SherryNeedsToLaugh
Hello everyone, So I had chemo thursday. Taxotere. I know the side effects can include finger nail loss but I have been on it for 2 months now and this is the first time I am having nail problems. Is there anything I can do at home or do I need to call my dr? My nails are so red and hurt. I am doing so well with this chemo that I don't want to stop just because I am losing my nails. I know that they will put my hands in ice water next week when I get treatment but is there anything I can do at home right now?
alexan
Idd not have problems with my nails with taxotere, but change the texture. I wil tell you to call the Dr. or ask to one of the chemo nurses, they know a lotBest of luck bucky
Don Wood
My wife used something like lemon tree oil on her nails during chemo. Don
chloesmom
Ask your onc, or better yet, a chemo nurse. They've seen all this before and will know what you should do. Cindy
Connie B
I agree with Cindy, but I'm not sure you really can do anything to stop it. I know one of my LC Support Group members had this happen but she was unable to do anything about it. After she completed chemo her nails somewhat came back for her. Welthy
Tony was told to rub neosporin or a triple-antibiotic into the cuticles and nails every day (maybe twice a day) and keep polish on his nails. Well, that didn't happen and his turned an interesting purple with lacy lines denoting each cycle of treatment as they grew out. Also became very thick. All better now. Good luck Welthy
