Smfj
I’ve had two clear chest X-rays in the past few years for phlegm that builds up in my throat. Very little coughing, but clearing my throat often. I’ll especially lose my voice while talking until I clear it. I’ve been prescribed various things including neti pot rinses, antacids and nasal steroids. It has progressed and now the phlegm is persistent all day. A chest CT has now been suggested. Has anyone had these symptoms?
Tom Galli
Smfj, I'd press for a chest CT. It could be nothing but chronic sinusitis but the extent of the symptom is concerning. Stay the course. Tom LouT and BridgetO

Stay the course. Tom Thanks Tom That is what I find strange, that I don’t have any nasal or sinus symptoms, despite the doctors treating it like the cause. They haven’t taken it seriously because I haven’t been coughing, just clearing phlegm. I will press for the scan. Thanks again, Sue BridgetO
RJN
Absolutely - get a CT as soon as possible. Most likely nothing, but even if it is, sooner is definitely better. X

RJN
Probably no cause for alarm, as phlegm isn’t all that typical for LC. No need go panic, but nevertheless, many of us wish we would have had a scan sooner after niggly coughs (both dry or wet), so it really is best to get it thoroughly checked out. Let us know how it goes. Tom Galli and LouT
