I been called lots names in my day but Yoda is not one of them.😁 Now i do like the statement your Doc made  Said I'm in alot better shape than I think I am. Got to love female doctors I am biased as i have two😎.One other thing you mentioned I am NOT typical for Durvalumab! It works wonderfully for most people! But  you were the norm rather than the exception but who is going to refuse a excellent drug even with the percentages.
Now that you have given up studying Oncology you can enjoy the summer between treatments.

Bob....you were right!😏 You called it! My onc won our little battle. and she basically told me I was being an idiot. 🤣 Said she is revoking my doctor's license, and having my google/internet cancelled. I tried saying...but the immunos all target the same thing that I don't even have...why bother? durva didn't work for me! She said that they are all entirely different drugs...using different pathways...and she really thinks this combo will stop my head stuff. Said I'm in alot better shape than I think I am.
I said...but it's so toxic...you gave me 2,766 mg of drugs in 8 hours. Her eyes got real big and she said...you mean you actually sat there and added up the milligrams?!! Geeez. 😁
    Yes I did. LMAO.
Anyway...she's reducing my chemo doses since I really haven't any active cancer in the lung- and chemo is what makes me feel so crappy....so I'm gonna try it again.
    Bob was right....he's like Yoda.
And as said by tomm here.....I am NOT typical for Durvalumab! It works wonderfully for most people!

If this makes sense please let me know😎
    Atezolizumab (Tecentriq®)
Atezolizumab (Tecentriq, Genentech USA, Inc, San Francisco, CA, USA) is a monoclonal antibody that binds to PD-L1 and blocks its interaction with PD-1, thereby enhancing T-cell activity against tumor cells.21
    Durvalumab (Imfinzi®)
Durvalumab (Imfinzi, AstraZeneca, Cambridge, UK) is a human IgG1κ monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction of PD-L1 with the PD-1 and CD80 (B7.1) molecules.25

Yes Rower Michelle!.... This is the new protocol now....just as the durva was.
Gotta wonder..... how similar are Tecentriq and durvalumab considering they target the same thing? Just like Keytruda and durvalumab….🤔

I’m willing to sell tickets to that show down tomorrow!  Anyway, I’m looking at the June 2019 American Society of Oncology Association. (ASCO) abstracts.  It appears as if your medical team is humming along with the new chemo immunotherapy protocol. Typically administered when there is no PDL-1 or targeted mutation.  Early studies suggest good results in PFS.
Ask the doc to show you which abstract is most applicable and have them provide you with a copy.  Sounds like this is going to be worth it in the long run.
    Good luck-lock and load.

Thanks to all of you I feel so much better having people who are going through the same/similar treatments.  It is such a relief to be able to express view/have discussions etc. with people who are experiencing similar issues.  Thanks to you all I don;t feel so alone.  My family is great and are very supportive but just hearing from you guys makes the fight worthwhile.
    Take care everyone.
    Kind regards

    Hi Barb
The reason I will have to stop is that being on the Durvalumab is part of a clinical trial.  Otherwise the cost is $180,000 (Australian per year). Because it is a 12 month clinical trial, stoppages don't count in the 12 month period.  It is not 26 treatments (i.e. 26 fortnightly treatments) it is a strict calendar year trial.  So the researchers can't afford to have people stopping and starting on it as it could skew their results.  It is all the government was willing to fund so I guess to some degree I am in their hands and have to be grateful for small mercies.  According to the research thus far, there has been two deaths because of patients who have had pneumonitis and been on predisone who have also been on durvalumab.  So over here they are very cautious about patients having predisone when they are being treated with durvalumab.  They also don't know when is the optimal time to stop the durvalumab i.e. is it six months, nine months, or 18 months. I hope this clarifies it a little more, I;m not a doctor so I hope I have explained it Okay.  Given my partially collapsed lung I am concerned that on Wednesday the oncologist may put me back on the predisone but I am praying he won't.
How are you feeling any way?  I hope your feeling better.
    Kind regards

    Hi Charles
My understanding of the predisone and durvalumab mix is that the two drugs counteract each other, hence neither work well together. (I'm not sure exactly how that works) . However my Onc. has told me that the Durvalumab stays in your system for up to six weeks.  Whereas the predisone leaves you system very quickly.  Because the predisone is an anti-inflammatory it is often better to get whatever that it is being used for under control in the first instance.   The issue is that the predisone is a steroid  and is so addictive.   I've been told that if I have to go on the predisone again that the Durvalumab will cease completely.  I don't know what happens after that.  I am going to fight tooth and nail against ceasing the Durvalumab as I am fully aware that the Durvalumab is actually working for me at present so I don't want it to stop.
    Kind regards

Sorry to hear about your condition it was about the same time infusion#8 or 9 that i had to go to ER major cough and they could see inflammation on the lung, They held off on predisone and i noticed on my next blood work my white bloods cell count went off the charts.Still have chest infection that shows on the CT the doctors are aware..
    Stay the course

Tomm…..The cannabis route is just not for everyone. All I believe is that it does help with eating and/or nausea if you get it bad. But if anyone wants to try it...go for it I say. Anything that makes ya happy!

    Tomm,
While THC may provide pleasant sensations, I’ve not found scientific evidence that it effects lung cancer tumors. In fact the claim is THC kills all kinds of cancer and that would make it a miracle drug. Sadly there are no miracle cures.
    Stay the course.

Well they are starting me on Taxol, Carbo, Tecentriq, And Avastin. I mean...that's ALOT! they say chemo can't get to the brain supposedly because of the blood-brain barrier. And the immunos all work with PDL1...which I apparently don't even have.  Soooo....am I taking all this just for fun or what!?? LOL
Bob I'm soooo glad you are doing good on this durva! I think it just all depends on what markers ya got... or don't. 😉
Eagle...I can see the pathology report so I see where they actually tested for the genes...BRAF and EFGR and ALK and all that......but I still can't find the part about PDL1. Doc just TOLD me I don't have it...I haven't actually seen it. I'll ask tomorrow.

I guess you were kind of busy with a little Craniotomy  on the side and you were concerned about needle biopsy😀 .I have no idea about my specific markers bit late to find out now as i go for #22 on Wednesday this week and finish Durvalumab on August-14 then scan late August now the proof of the pudding is it working will come clear in the next six months. Did they say what type of  chemo/immuno  you will receive. ? There is always  some type of setback in persons cancer treatment and as long as your getting treatment you will handle it.
