  1. Aliboo,

You do need to call the doctor. The percoset obviously is not the right drug for your boyfriend. There are many others that will control the pain. I am on oxycodone, but there are others also.

  2. Hi Aliboo,

I would call your doctor immediately and ask for a prescription for some kind of pain killer. There is no reason your boyfriend should be in so much pain.

  3. Charlene,

I was also dx with stage IV LC. Just hearing that is a tremendous shock, but there is hope and life out there. It may help your mom to speak to other stage IV survivors. It's possible to live for a long time with stage IV.

I don't know where you live, but there also may be support groups available, even through a nearby hospital. I would ask your doctor. I would look specifically for a LC group.

By the way, her expectation of looking like a "freak" may be far from the truth. People that don't know would never know I'm sick. Even my friends and family look at me and can't believe my dx.

I would be more than happy to speak to you or your mom. You can PM me any time.

    All the best

    Joan

  4. Has your dad tried Emend. That did wonders for my nassea. Also, please make sure that he is drinking water, or any liquids he can get down. It will make him feel better and prevent dehydration which can just overwhelm you even after chemo, very easily.

This is so hard, but you're right, keep his eye on the "prize".

Wishing you both the best, and you've certainly got my prayers coming.

  5. Hi Lori,

I had six rounds of taxol/carbo and avastin. It worked very well and I've continued on with the avastin since then.

Ditto Don M with the WATER. Sooooo important.

I'd be glad to answer any questions you have as you go along.

    Best wishes,

    Joan

  6. Hi Donna,

I'd first just like to welcome you and wish you luck in your battle.

I'm also claustrophobic and cannot get into an MRI without medication. I would strongly suggest asking your doctor for something because now it doesn't even bother me.

As far as being cumulative, it really depends. My last chemo turned out to have the least side effects, so Who Knows???

  7. Shirley,

My reaction to your same drugs were very similar. I don't believe that the effects are cumulative because when I was going for my last treatment, I was really nervous about that, and it was my very best one (no reaction at all).

Just be very sure, even if you're not hungry, to DRINK lots of water, juice or whatever you can get down. I liked the ensure and it also filled me up, but whatever you like, liquids are imperative!

Its very easy to become dehydrated while undergoing chemo.

Just don't worry, you'll be fine. Stay positive.

    Joan
