  1. Lori,

From what I know about you, you're not a quitter by any stretch of the imagination.

I certainly can understand how you're feeling right now. And, that's ok, cause we have to let this stuff out sometimes. But, it's only a matter of time before you'll pull yourself together and reach deep down and do what needs to be done.

When I get down, which we all do, I always think that somewhere there is someone who has it worse than I do. I'd rather help that person than worry about myself. I guess that's my way of dealing.

I wish I could help in someway, but I have faith that you'll do it and wish you and your family the best.

  2. I was a financial planner.

I loved my work because (in theory) gave me the freedom to plan my days however I'd like. I loved the people I met and worked with.

I would have only changed jobs to be able to make the same money or more, but LESS hours.

My hours felt like 24/7, but I worked approximately 11 hours a day. I did enjoy my own schedule. That means I worked more.

I'm currently on Disability, but still correspond with clients that had become good friends.

  3. Hi Mary,

I finished my 10 day radiation on Wednesday of this week. Yes, I'm still tired. I never nap and this past week I've napped every day. The docs said the radiation will still be working for up to another 2 weeks and I may still feel tired.

Mine was also on my spine somewhere and also sacrum. I'm too tired to remember.

  4. Tracy,

This just stinks. I'm just so sorry to hear this, but I have such faith in you and your strength. I was on the same protocol of Carbo/Taxol/Avastin since May of 05. It is certainly doable and there are really great wigs out there. My husband thought I never looked so good.

If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me any time.

  5. Oh Kasey,

So sorry to hear this news, but the good news is that it's anything but LC.

I'm also so confident that you will be able to handle this and be there for your Fred.

Anyway I can ever be of help, you know where I am.

  6. Hi Marie,

I really don't like what your onc said about your shoulder pain. First of all, Tylenol has been found to cause liver problems and you should be very careful with that. I recently had shoulder pain and was sent for an MRI. They were able to tell that there was no cancer, and it was blamed on arthritic changes.

I would start calling every large cancer center or hospital to see who takes Aetna. Someone must.

As far as Sloan, they are probably the toughest hospital as far as insurance goes. Maybe some of the other NY hospitals accept it. Many are excellent.

    Best wishes,

    Joan

  7. Hi Shirley,

Yes, definitely call your doctor. I have experienced a lot of leg pain which was actually coming from a bone met on my sacrum that was pressing on a nerve. Anyway, I'm just about finishing radiation for it and its made a huge difference.

    Always check out pain.

    Take care,

    Joan

  8. Hi Bill,

So sorry to hear about this new wrinkle. Stage IV isn't fun, but it is doable. I agree with the many who said, new stuff coming along all the time. We've just got to stay around to benefit from it.

    That's my plan!!

I wish you only the best and if anyone can do it, you sure can.

  9. Oh boy,

I hate to say that I know that feeling, but I unfortunately do. You've got to rise above it and get the boxing gloves back on!!

We are so close, both in proximity and in terms of our LC. I was dx in May, 2005.

Wishing you only the best. Ya gotta believe.

    Joan
