  1. Sending congratulations to one of my favorites here.

    Wow, 3000!!!

You are one of a kind, Cindi and definately "needed" here :D

    And many more................... :D

  2. hahaha....loved all of your stories.

We still have two in the chicagoland area but I haven't been to either.

When I was younger, we lived right next to a drive in. It was a rental property and I'm not sure how, but we had speakers on our back porch.

I don't even wanna think about how many times I saw at least a portion of Ghostbusters that summer!!

  3. Hi Lillian,

Everyone has given you such good advice. Please listen to them and give yourself time to adjust to the news you've just received and then get ready to fight. My Mother was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer and is still here as a perfect example that you can beat it!!!! You, too can DO THIS!

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  4. Wow, sounds like one heck of a guy to me!!!

I'm with Carleen on this one, it is the thought that counts.

After working outside I think any type of COLD beer would bring a big smile to his face. I'm thinking you'd be safe with either Bud or Miller Lite.

    Good luck!!!

  5. Linda,

Crossing my fingers (and toes) that this little break will build up your Moms strength and that the Tarceva will begin to work it's magic as it has for so many here. Hang in there :D

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  6. I just wanted to say hello....and let all of you know that even though I don't post as often as before, I do check in daily to see how everyone is doing.

I also wanted to give an update on my Mom.

Although we got the great news, NED, a few months ago, she is still receiving Avastin every three weeks.

Her doctor is continuing this until her PET scan scheduled in July.

Because the Avastin is so new, he is taking it one appointment at a time. We have complete trust in him and will go along with whatever he thinks is best.

She does get very tried and out of breath when she tries to do any type of physical activity. I wonder if part of that will go away when/if her doctor decides to take her off of the Avastin??

Like so many here, we are taking things one day at time.

With each passing day she seems to get a little bit more energy and getting back to her old fiesty self!

It is truly a miracle that she is still with us and I still believe it is from all the prayers, faith, hope, and refusing to never give up.

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  7. Hi Don,

I must admit, I'm happy to hear that Lucie is going to try Avastin next.

My Mom started the Avastin/Taxotere combo. After the drastic results, my Mom's oncologist decided to take her off the Taxotere and only give the Avastin.

If I remember correctly she only took three treatments of the combo.

She is now receiving the Avastin only in three week cycles.

It pretty much knocks her off her feet for about a week. But, no other side effects to really speak of.

Please let Lucie know that I am praying for great success with this new combo.

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  8. Lori,

I'm so happy to hear the news about your Mom.

Your Mom is one heck of a fighter....you must be so proud of her!!

When the goin' gets tough....the tough get goin'.

I hope her confusion subsides soon and she can again remember how lucky she is to have a daughter like you!

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  9. Hi Ry,

I'm sorry to hear the Alimta has been so rough on John.

The darn side effects are SO hard sometimes!!!!

I'm praying that this little break will get him feeling better and you'll be able to get approved for Avastin. It has been the miracle drug for us and I'm hoping it will be for you too.

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  10. Hi Tracy,

It is nice to see your post.

As you know....hearing the words lung cancer can be extremely tough and it helps to have somewhere to go with questions and support.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this.....it has to be so difficult with your children's anger of the unknown.

You have a wonderful Aunt and I'm sure you are just as much a fighter.

Stay strong and never give up!!!!

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  11. Hi Shanna,

I know how difficult it is to see your Mother's health deteriorating and know there is absolutely nothing you can do for her. All you can do at this point is to take each day as a gift...and try not to think to far ahead. Let your Mom know how much you love her and that you are there for her.

Hopefully the radiation will bring her comfort for the days ahead.

Please keep us posted on how both of you are doing. We are here for you when you need us.

    Warm Hugs,

    Melinda

  12. Kasey,

I'm so happy to hear the great news again about NED!

I'll continue to pray for Tracy.

When will she be having this procedure to determine her staging?
