  1. Hi Snappy, I had allergic reaction to taxol and the other stuff too. Those nurses are so darn busy too. Concurrent chemo and radiation is not easy. I felt just a gradual slow down in energy. I started feeling shorter of breath on walks. I was only 46, but I took afternoon nap everyday. I had increasing trouble swallowing acidic or scratchy foods. By the end of 6-7 weeks, I was thoroughly pooped out, but hadn't lost a pound. It is easy to become discouraged because treatment makes us feel worse. I remember that. Is he taking an antidepressant? Depression can cause loss of appetite. He needs to keep up his weight, or they might stop chemo. Barb
  2. Congratulations Becky! You are too young to go through this, but your doc is right. Keep monitoring. Barb
  3. Hi Snappy, I used to make a giant ice green tea for the ride to radiation and then had a vanilla milk shake right after radiation. I did this everyday. I only had small problem with my throat toward the end of treatment - cranberries, orange juice, tomato sauce burned my throat and crackers/chips were too scratchy. I brought along big bag of red grapes and cantaloupe to chemo. The drugs during chemo gave me major munchies. Hope this helps. Barb
  4. But you know he is a non-smoker too...so this helps our cause when people see non-smokers get lc. Also on Days of our Lives - Bo is being tested for a variety of serious cancers, maybe it will be lc? Barb
  5. I think because his case is advanced and he is seeking high quality care, he is going to a cancer treatment center and they told him it would cost $90,000. Since they are out of HMO, it is not covered. My guess he is shrink wrapped to hold him in place while they zap him or maybe it helps the skin from burning? What was with those three green dots? Barb
  6. Hi Randy, Yes, the hubby and I have been watching faithfully and I really like it. He's facing problems with health insurance and issues with fear of treatment. Also the wife was being pushy that he needed to go to treatment, and he made a stand and said he would make his own decisions about treatment. His perception of chemo was extreme doom and gloom. The show ended with him on the radiation treatment table wrapped in plastic. Why did they wrap him in plastic sheeting? I don't remember that? Barb
  7. I got this from Hillary's site. Barb http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/rele ... w/?id=3035

    Today In History

So sorry this happened to you Randy. I'm sure Deb is watching over you. Barb
  9. Hi Thelma, I had two lobes on right side removed, followed by concurrent chemo and radiation. I had a tiny tiny margin, is that what happened to you too? Barb
  10. Yes, by 9pm west coast, you east coast guys have already gone to bed! Barb
  11. Hey Judy, Yes I think that Marshmallow Fluff is the most fattening of all food, if you can call it food. I think it's nothing more than whipped corn syrup, but it sure packs on the pounds fast. Barb
  12. Thanks Connie, I love it. barb
  13. After the debates Wednesday and Thursday, does anyone know who has the best health care plan for cancer survivors? I used to think Edwards had the right perspective, but it is all so confusing to listen to these candidates. Barb
  14. Thanks KC. I can't handle pain meds too, so that made my lobectomy pretty bad. This is good advice. Now that I'm feeling all better, it sounds like tonsillectomy pain is something I want to avoid - especially since I'm about 20 years older than you were. Thanks again. Barb
  15. HI Mendy, I missed the first show. I think I'm missing some understanding of the plot. Why did this guy decide to start making drugs? Does he have a plan to make $$$ maybe seek an expensive treatment not covered by his health insurance or what? Did the hubby see first show? Barb
  16. Oh Randy, what a show. I don't think he's told anyone he has LC yet. The wife doesn't know. He's still teaching chemistry everyday. It is definitely twisted. Not believable as he has inoperable LC and yet he is terrified he might get caught for making crank and murder. We all know this would not be his primary concern.....but I think I'll keep watching anyway. Barb
  17. Thanks for all the great info so far. Lots to think about. You guys are terrific. I woke up feeling much better today. Plus my GP called to check up on me. He sent in an antibiotic prescription to pharmacy. I told him I got scared and probably over-reacted. He said it was completely understandable given my medical history and that I should have a bottle of antibiotics stashed away in medicine cabinet just in case anyway. I like my GP. I will talk to him about tonsils at my next visit. I get so disgusted with my body sometimes - it has let me down majorly twice. I get all wound up when I feel crummy. I see onc next week for yearly check up. I will ask about tonsils. See what she says too. Hopefully there won't be anything more important to discuss. You guys had lots of good advice and I will think about it all. Barb
  18. Welcome Roberta. As Connie said, we are here to help anyway we can. Barb
  19. Not to mention the silage Connie. That stuff was wicked. My mom never let me near that. But I think there is a lot of ammonia in the cow waste...and that would burn the lungs. Plus the tractor exhaust hits you right in the face when you drive. No, this article is full of horse crap. Barb
