Has anyone ever had a doctor tell them that they only had so long to live? My dads doctor is giving him that perception and I dont think thats right. He is making my dad lose all hope its terrible! Or is the doctor right? Praying for you all

Anyone here on Iressa? If so is it working? And did you have to ask your doctor for it or did he just give it to you? I want my dad to try it but the doctors havent even offered it to him.. i dont understand why.. He gets his scans done in a week to see if the cancer has spread to his bones. Im getting really scared as the days get closer.!

No he has only had radiation to the lungs. This spot on his vertebrae has just shown up. They think it is cancer or a crushed vertebrae and if its grown during the next test than that is how we will know. My dad hasnt seemed to have received any drug from his doc. I think living in nebraska is the problem! Not enough studies or something.

My dad did chemo and radiation and close to the end of the treatment he started having trouble breating. He had it checked out and went to the hospital because it got so bad and they put him on an oxygen tank. The result was from scar tissue on the lungs from the radiation treatment. They literally fried his lungs. I hope that is not what happend to you but it is rare and unfortunate that it happend to my dad.

You poor thing I can understand how that feels. I have a book that I have read in my times of being down and even if you dont believe it or not there are somethings in the book that make you feel at ease. Its call the other side and back by silvia brown. I would find that book and read it. First it will help you put your mind on other things and second even if you believe in her or not some things make ya go hmm... I recommend it to everyone.

Could you all pray for my dad.. He is going in a couple of weeks to see if this spot on his vertebrae has grown or not. Please pray that the cancer has not spread. Ive read that new cancer drugs are closer than ever and I need him to make it for a chance at them some day. Before I found this site I prayed for my dad every night. And now that I ve read your stories I included all of you because im not alone and the power or prayer is amazing. WE will OVERCOME!

I think my dad got something like that from his chemo? Im not positive if that is what it was called. But he was in the hospital for awhile and we had to cover up ourselves to go visit him. Best wishes to you and your family. God bless.

Hi this is my first post here. I have been just reading everyones stories and I wish the best for everyone. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer 8/02 stage IIIb and shown to be inoperable. When I heard the news from his biopsy I just bawled there in front of the doctor and thought my world had came to an end. I am supposed to get married in June but my dad had just had another test done and found something on his 8th vertebrae. My dad had told me if it was found to be cancer that he would have 6 - 8 months to live. I cant imagine him not being there to walk me down the aisle. Is there really any hope for inoperable cancer? And is these clincal trials hopeful? God Bless you all!
