    I am sad to hear this news. Dean has always been an inspiration to me. His posts describe the real Dean. As bad as he felt at times, he always had a few words of encouragment for us. He has picked me up many times. To this I say "Thanks Dean."

    I carried newspapers for 7 1/2 mile a day after school at 13. I had no bicycle to ride. I delivered through all the weather...rain - sleet - snow.

    Taught me lifes lesson early in life. I saved for my first car. It was a 295.00 car but to me it was top of the line.

    My next job was in a nursing home. I helped with the elderly...bathing and feeding etc. Pay was 1.63 per hour and I worked 35 hrs per week.

    Katrina Survivors

    I would like to start this topic so that any/all of our members that were in Katrina's path can post and let us know they are OK. I relize that it will be a while before anyone in the area can post. If anyone hears from one of our members, PLEASE post for them. You can use it for your family members that are in the area as well. Prayers going up for each and everyone.

    Then I counted our membership list. I figure we have at least 30 in those 3 states (La.,Ms. Ala. ).

    I imagine that some of the 1132 that do not claim a location must be from that area also.

    Hope all check in with us when they get electricity back.

    Thanks Donna. I was just getting ready to check the list and post the results. If anyone hears from any of these 30 plus, please post that they are ok.

    Am glad to hear that Lil and Don's family are accounted for.

    I just hate it when an employer throws a question at you like that. Had one ask me one time why I felt like he should hire me. Anyway, I am sure you will do fine on the second interview. Good Luck.

    First of all let me say "Welcome." Smoking is a very tough habit to break. We had a very lenghty discussion on it a while back. Do a search and you will find the post for it.

    Second, and I'm not taking sides here, 30 plus years is a long time. I smoked for 35 years also. Yes, there is no question that he should stop now. You must remember tho, you can't live his life for him no more then he can live yours.

    There is no question. Cancer is a deadly disease. The only advice I can offer you is to accept what he chooses to do. Life is short. Cherish every moment you have with him. Don't waste it trying to change him.

    Altho I have never lost a spouse, I know it must be hard on you. You are a strong lady and have proven it many times over.

    Let me add that I am glad you have stayed with us here. I always look forward to your posts.
