  1. I have completed 6 rounds of chemo for SCLC, extensive, and dr. says no more b/c it doesn't seem to help. The tumor is almost gone, he said, and I will have CT scan in 3 months.

I don't have SCLC so I really don't know how to answer this but I don't understand. If it is shrinking the tumor and it is almost gone, how can it not be working? I think I'd get a 2nd opinion.

  2. Well, I am rambling and I know that I have so many blessings already that I feel a little "hoggish" asking for more help right now.

You are not rambling. You are just reaching out like we all do. That is what makes this board special. We can reach out at any time and someone will be there to hold our hand or pick us up, whichever we need.

You are not being "hoggish". There is enough love and support here to go around.

Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. Had my bronscopy done Wednesday. Pulmonary doctor said everything looked fine in my lung. He did not see anything out of the ordinary.

Still don't know what is causing my SOB tho. I am beginning to wonder if it is my new normal. I am almost 2 years out from surgery tho and the SOB has been worse in the last 6-8 weeks. I consider this something new.

The next step is an Echocardigram of heart to see if radiation did any damage there. But there again, radiation was 2 years ago and this just started. After the test, I see him again May 25. I say he will be getting a call from me the day after the test. :)

On a different note, I went to my favorite hidaway spot yesterday. I didn't see Dolly tho.:lol::lol:

I did well untill about 4 pm and started getting tired. Had a good time and did real well I thought.

  4. I am also nearing my 2 year mark. I still have pain now and then. I usually can't lay on my right side (left lung removed). I think it is because the nerves get touched in a certain way. Are you confused yet...I AM.

Anyway, boy do I remember the burning part around my back. Mine was linked to heartburn and indigestion. I thought doc was crazy but the way he explained it was that the indigestion would hit a nerve and it would travel around.

Back to your question. My pain did seem to all but diminish in about a year. I suppose we never will get back to old normal.

  5. Fay,

I know it is going to be a long week-end for you. Try to enjoy it. It is Mothers Day. Will be praying for good results and will be looking for your post Monday.

  6. The children were lined up in the cafeteria of an elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.

The teacher made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."

  7. For the past several weeks I have been more SOB then usual. Have been dizzy a lot lately. I saw my PCP doctor 3 weeks my yearly check up.He said dizzy spells could be ear trouble. Blood work was OK except HG was a little low. It has been for 2 years so nothing to worry about there.I had a Chest x-ray 2 weeks ago and it was normal also. Oncologist visit was the same as last time. He said I was still doing good. Talked to him about the ringing in my ears and dizzy spells. He said ear trouble or possibly lack of 02 could be cause. I mentioned my SOB and he said to be sure and mention it to my Pulmonary doct when I saw him tomorrow (yesterday). Also lost 15 lbs since Feb 2005. It did not hurt me to loose them but it does bother me though since I made no effort to loose weight. Pulmonary doc did blood work to check for blood clots. Don't know the results but he said he would call if anything was found. Am scheduled for a bronscopy Wednesday May 11. He said lungs were clear but he wanted to look down and see if he could determind cause of SOB. Also have some "ratteling" at nite time.

Anyway, this is where I stand and hopefully there are no mets anywhere else. Get CT in July...Chest/AB/Pelvis. Had Brain MRI in March and was normal. Will keep you posted if anything developes.

  8. I have had several infections Amy, but I have never had a coughing problem. I do cough some when I get hot etc. but not a lingering cough. I guess it might depend on how bad infection is and how irrated the lung/throat is. Does she cough anything up? Might be a good idea to run it by her pulmonary doc anyway.

  9. I have some suspenders Frank. You and Debi might fix your suspenders so they would break and then who would help you keep these women in line?

Also, Debi, I would have to wave at you as I passed your Explorer.

  10. I ran across this today and had to post it.

A hip young man goes out and buys the best car on the market, a brand new Ferrari GTO. It is also the most expensive car in the world, and it costs him $500,000. He takes it out for a spin and stops at a red light.

An old man on a Moped, looking about 100 years old, pulls up next to him. The old man looks over at the sleek, shiny car and asks, "What kind of car ya' got there sonny?"

The young man replies, "A Ferrari GTO. It cost half a million dollars!"

"That's a lot of money," says the old man. "Why does it cost so much?"

"Because this car can do up to 320 miles an hour!" states the young dude proudly.

The Moped driver asks, "Mind if I take a look inside?"

"No problem," replies the owner. So the old man pokes his head in the window and looks around.

Then, sitting back on his Moped, the old man says, "That's a pretty nice car, all right...but I"ll stick with my Moped!"

Just then the light changes, so the guy decides to show the old man just what his car can do. He floors it, and within 30 seconds, the speedometer reads 160 mph. Suddenly, he notices a dot in his rear view

mirror. It seems to be getting closer! He slows down to see what it could be and suddenly WHHHOOOOOOSSSSSHHH! Something whips by him going

    much faster!

"What on earth could be going faster than my Ferrari?" the young man asks himself. He floors the accelerator and takes the Ferrari up to 250 mph. Then, up ahead of him, he sees that it's the old man on the Moped! Amazed that the Moped could pass his Ferrari, he gives it more gas and passes the

moped at 275 mph. WHOOOOOOOSHHHHH! He's feeling pretty good until he looks in his mirror and sees the old man gaining on him AGAIN!

Astounded by the speed of this old guy, he floors the gas pedal and takes the Ferrari all the way up to 320 mph. Not ten seconds later, he sees the Moped bearing down on him again! The Ferrari is flat out, and there's nothing he can do!

Suddenly, the Moped plows into the back of his Ferrari, demolishing the rear end. The young man stops and jumps out and unbelievably the old man

is still alive. He runs up to the mangled old man and says, "Oh My God! Is there anything I can do for you?"

    The old man whispers...

    "Unhook...my...suspenders...from...your...side-view.......mirror''.

  11. Does anyone know how long it takes for any signs to appear after being exposed to EXTREMLY high amts of asbestos? My cancer is not asbestos related but am trying to find this out. Thanks.

  12. only a comment. I have all kinds of noises coming from my lungs on different days and weeks. When I go in to the doctor, invariably the noise that drives me nuts won't be doing it while I am there.

My lungs will whistle, rattle, wheeze, chortle, and guffaw! The noises that come out of there are strange.

I have this same problem. At times mine sounds like I am the "Kellog Rice Krispy" man. Mine goes ...Snap...Crackel...Pop.

I too can never get it to happen when seeing the doctor. It mostly happens at night while laying down. Is that when your's is Cindi?

  13. Hi Don, I also have the Acid Reflux. Never had any problems before surgery. I am thinking I read somewhere that it is a common thing after chemo/radiation. I also can not eat before going to bed. Oh how I miss my Oreo and milk.

I can drink milk during the day but not around about 2-3 hours beford bedtime. Also got hiatel hernia after surgery. Doctor said this was from the shifting of organs.

Mine seems to be doing better now so it gets some better after time. I was taking 2 Acifex a day and am down to 1. Hope this helps some.
