  1. Good afternoon, everyone!

I didn't find time to stop by this morning, then the server seemed to be down at lunch time.

It was 60 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 82.

I know what you mean about the pre-smoking weight thing, Lily. I put on a lot of weight quickly after I quit, and that is what got me started trying to figure out how to improve my diet and what kind of exercise my aching back would let me do.

I'll count down with you, Ann. 25 1/2 hours and counting, here!

    Have a great day, all!

  2. Good morning, everyone!

It was 64 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 84.

Everyone around here has baseball fever these days, as our local team, the Texas Rangers, are in the American League Championship Series for the first time ever. I have been watching them play and Rose, who doesn't follow baseball at all, is totally into this series.

I get up at 3:55 am, so not too long after 9:00 last night, I gave up on the game and went to bed. Rose stayed up and watched the entire game, and as I kissed her goodbye this morning, woke up long enough to tell me the Rangers had won....LOL.

    Have a great day, all!

  3. Good morning, everyone!

It was 64 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 84. There's a chance of storms, but it's starting to look like they're going to miss us.

Lily, I noticed that Texas has outrageous prices for non-resident fishing licenses, too. I'm not sure why states do that.

Enjoy group tonight, KW Judy. Have a great day, all!

  4. Good morning, everyone!

It was 61 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 86.

I enjoyed myself on the lake yesterday, brought home some crappie, and daughter Marie and granddaughter Chloe came over and joined us for a fish dinner.

Not much happening here. I'll check your photos when I get home, Eric. Congrats, Becky!

    Have a great day, all!

  5. Good afternoon, everyone!

It was 47 degrees this morning, with a forecast high of 85. I got up and rode over to the start of a club ride just 7 miles from me in Burleson, did the ride, then rode home. I ended up with just under 65 miles, at a 17.7 mph average, a fast pace for me. That gives me over 190 miles for the week, a good mileage week.

I'm thinking I'll get up and visit my crappie again at Lake Granbury tomorrow. It's supposed to be another beautiful day, with a high of 84 degrees in the afternoon.

Becky, I also use photobucket. It is among the easiest to use. Have a great weekend, all!

  6. Good morning, everyone! TGIF!

It was 45 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 85. It was cool enough this morning that I wore leg warmers with my shorts for the first time this fall. I rode to work all five days this week. Today was my 135th ride to work of the year.

Dang, Bruce, that sounds like a serious accident. I hope you're healing well. That makes my trips to the pavement from the bicycle seem pretty minor. Note to self: Don't get on Bruce's horse.

Yes, KW Judy, I wish there were more Rice Dream products here, too. I'd try the ice cream. But at least Walmart carries the drink, so I don't have to go somewhere like Whole Foods (Whole Paycheck, I call it). They've just opened a new HEB nearby though, so Rose may start shopping there more than Walmart now. At least with rice milk, you can buy ahead. Unlike regular milk, it has a six month expiration date.

    Have a great day, all!

  7. Good morning, everyone!

It was 48 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 77.

Actually, KW Judy, Daylight Savings Time is about to end, and yes, it will start getting dark very early.

Eric, you're not the first to find an argument on all sides after bringing up too much science in a church group. I've made that mistake, too. I agree with you on health care. Doing it as a private business so long after all the other industrialized countries instituted public health care doesn't make sense to me, but I can tell you that a lot of people here don't agree with me.

As to the rice milk question, I don't know about your dairy industry there, but studies have shown pretty convincingly that too much American dairy product comsumption brings health concerns. One striking statistic is that men who eat lots of American dairy products are 5 times more likely to get prostate cancer. I still probably consume more dairy products than I should, but Rose and I have cut down on them. Two years ago, we stopped buying milk completely and switched to Rice Dream.

    Have a great day, all!

  8. Good morning, everyone! It was 56 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 80.

So we'll soon be hearing about Eric, the professional bowler? That sounded like one serious breakfast you had yesterday. On the rare occasions that I get up on a Sunday and don't go anywhere, Rose will cook a big breakfast. The rest of the time, it's just oatmeal, with honey, raisins, cinnamon, and rice milk.

KW Judy, I'm sure you really don't like things piling up on you, but just pace yourself. It will get done soon enough.

MI Judy, I hope you slept well last night and are feeling better today.

    Have a great day, all!

  9. It was 58 degrees this morning as I rode to work. Forecast high is 83.

As always, I slept like a rock last night, only waking up once, at 2:00 am, with Pixie licking me on the nose, her way of saying she wants to go out. As soon as my head hit the pillow afterward, I was out again.

Ann, I do truly enjoy my time on the water. There's nothing else quite like fishing.

Katie, yes, besides posting about the walk in my local rbent forum like I do every year, I also added a link to the walk in my signature on a fishing forum and other cycling forums. I don't know if it will bring any donations, but figured it was worth a try. In the 50+ cycling forum, my adventure was followed by other posters. I even started a thread in the 50+ forum about riding while getting chemo.

    Have a great day, all!

  10. Good morning, everyone!

It was 66 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 80. It may be one of those rare days when I have a tailwind for my ride both directions as we have a front coming in this afternoon that's supposed to change the wind to the north.

I rode 50 miles from home Saturday morning. When Rose got home from work, she and her sister drove to Midland to visit their mother. So it's just been the dogs and I at home since. She's supposed to be home tonight.

I went crappie fishing on Sunday, and brought home some really nice ones again. It's surprising how much bigger they seem to average in the fall.

    Have a great day, all!

  11. Good morning, everyone! TGIF!

It was 47 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 87.

The computers were down here at work this morning, so I'm later stopping by than usual. My countdown is at a little less than four hours, Ann.

    Have a great day, all!

  12. Good morning, everyone!

It was 45 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 88.

On the ride to work, I was blocked by a train that stopped and still hadn't moved 15 minutes later. I've changed my afternoon route because of getting blocked so often then, but this is the first time I'd gotten blocked at this spot in the morning. I had to just ride a route that I'd never done before to get around it. I've never seen as many trains as I have in the last month. Is this all Christmas stuff being transported here or what?

Best wishes for the scans, KW Judy. Have a great day, all!
