Stephanie, thanks for all your emails I really enjoy reading them,re-"I went to Qi Gong and pushed some clouds around" correct me if I am wrong, but this is obviously this is a reference to a mountain range in Cambodia, that you climbed-pushing the clouds about at the summit-Iam I correct?.Maybe you hurt your elbow during the climb, hope it gets better soon to get back to the sink-poor hubby!. See you soon-Bye.
  2. Good Morning Everyone, Aw,the suns gone, gray overcast sky, still its warm and dry, yesterdays weather made second page in the newspapers here,65 degrees, which was on par with Spain, this global warming must be true. Had a great day with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend,he is so polite didnt even critcise my for not doing Lesson 2.He helped me get the table and chairs (and parasol)out of the garage and set them in the back garden,Jen and Chris prepared the al-fresco lunch and even cleared up and did the dishes-despite my vigorous attempts to dissuade them-leave them I shouted from my chair-Sally will get them later when you have gone.Wonder why she drew me a nasty look? Just going to the docs now 10.10am appointment, then an appointment with my oncologist at 1.35pm to discuss my CT Scan results and anything else he wishes to raise.Hope it all goes well catch you up later, have a really nice day
  3. Good Morning Everyone, Its your friendly 9.30 am wake up call,Iam enjoying being on board first due to the difference in time zones,It will be different next week when I am back at work, less time on my lap top.Again its a bright sunny morning-Wow-three days in a row,its my Daughters birthday to-day and she is coming to spend the day with us,shes bringing her boyfriend Chris along, he is a computer whiz-kid and has set me up with an online computer training programme to develope my skills-I have completed Lesson 1,Lesson 2 sent two weeks ago remains unattempted,I think I better come up with some sort of excuse. Ideal weather for a barbie ,except my daughters a vegan.Bruce thanks for your replies, much appreciated,I enjoy hearing about the local environment of the homes of buddies in the world,I may not get the chance to visit these places, but it is a way of getting to know them better.Loved the golf last night, well done Phil, isnt Augusta just beautiful. Bye for now.
  4. Hi Bruce, I just had to locate you at Yellowknife, hey would you believe I have my large times atlas on my lap at my laptop,I can see the Great Slave Lake-Yellowknife with the airport symbol.Glasgow is 55 degrees north so you beat me at approx 63degrees north, although Scotland is kept a bit warmer by the Gulf stream. If the farm is a hobby, where else do you have a home?.Gosh isnt Canada HUGE.See you later.
  5. Hi Everyone. Just came indoors for a break from the sunshine in my back garden-phew its so hot-I do believe its nearly sixty degrees out there,Ill go back out when it cools a bit. Judy good to have you back from your short break, sounds like you really enjoyed yourself.I am intrigued with the fish your grandson caught a "mutton snapper" and at sixteen pounds thats a biggie,my best is a 3lb brown trout, well done grandson. Randy it is a shame we gotta work to bring the pennies in,particularly since you are going to doing pt and ft over the next couple of weeks, never mind it will pass quickly Iam sure, hurry back. Bruce hope the snow thaws asap, and you get the farm dried out,I am a total alien to farm life, regretably so,for I am sure it would be a great life, particularly,if you had the experience as a child growing up on one, rather than the urban alternative. Can you tell me where in Canada ,Yellowknife is?(brilliant name by the by)and what kind of farm you run?
  6. Good Morning Everone, Its 9.30am here in Scotland(well it was when I started to write this)Its a beautiful sunny day,I am listening to all the birds chirping away for all they are worth in my garden, this weather is to stay with us for a few days, got to enjoy it while we can before the rain returns, dont know the outside temperature but it is comfortable enough to be sitting outside.Iam off to church shortly ABC (Airdrie Baptist Church)not really a member, but I enjoy going anyway-love the singing.Afternoon-hopefully peace to sit in the garden and read the Sunday papers, and best bit is this evening , watching the US masters final round from Augusta-I have been a avid viewer for years, last night though I fell asleep in my easychair missing probably the last hour-grrr. Phil Mickleson had just overtaken Lee Westwood in the leader board, its going to be an exciting final day-is Tiger down and out or can he make a return? dont miss to-days thrilling instalment. Catch you later folks.
  7. Hi All, Thanks Murial,oh were it in my power to send you some of the rain thats fell in Scotand recently-you would soon be saying enough!,enough!. Ned,good to see you getting up and about,I am so pleased you are making good progress following your op.Now its chemo to look forward to-you really have come through the wars, what an example you are to others, who should be counting their blessings,I of course wish you well for your next hurdle, and please God, leave you in peace now in good health. Jennifers play is called "The Libertine"based on the life of the Earl of Rochester, but she is ill at ease at the thought of Mum and Dad coming to see it because its a bit "risque" The weather here to-day has been lovely-spring certainly has sprung,I am sitting at my dining room table with my laptop looking out my window to see a beautiful sunset, isnt life wonderful?. Catch you later.
  8. Hi Kay, Welcome to LCSC,glad you found us,your mum and I just about mirror each other for dx,only difference is ,my upper right lung was removed, but I do have some problems in the breathing stakes, fortunately is restricted to walking uphills, definate dis- advantage if you live in Scotland.Wish I could advise you on your mums situation, but I just dont know, why dont you visit our link with cancergrace and ask the excellent oncologist Dr West or Dr Wiess for an opinion, theyll be pleased to give you a prompt reply. Best wishes, your mum is blessed with having such a daughter.
  9. Hi Bud, Just about filled the skip yesterday from the small bedroom and the garage, had to buy some more plastic storage boxes for my daughter gear-she was using the small bedroom as a study for her Uni course, she has now moved out into a flat-I didnt want her to go-well I suppose she is 25 now-as the minister told me when we got married-children are gifts from God,but they are only on loan. Shes just been told that a part in a play she auditioned for,has been given to her,so as they say in Scotland-shes fair chuffed.Gosh can I remember the name of the play, she would say typical-you dont listen to a word I say.The play starts in the Ramshorn Theatre in Glasgow in the week of my 61st Birthday on May 8th so it will be a nice birthday treat.I always worried since my dx I wouldnt be here to see her hit the big-time.I did tell her from the outset Jennifer only one in a million make it-her reply? Dad Iam one in a million, you know what I may be biased, but I think shes right. I have taken a day off to-day from DIY-well we dont want to rush things do we ?. Bye for now.
  10. Hi SueLiz, Welcome to LCSC,I share your husbands dx,my treatment was different though,I didnt have radiation or as we say in Scotland-Radiotherapy, I was aware though, that the side effects of your husbands treatments you have described, match exactly with with my understanding. We all appreciate the rollercoaster of emotions you and your husband are going through just now, lean on the buddies here for a while, sharing your concerns with them will lighten your burden.Looking forward to getting to know you.
  11. Hi Susie, Welcome to LCSC,great to have you on board,I kinda new here myself, everyone here is so supportive and friendly not forgetting having a wealth of knowledge and experience-so no matter whatever anxieties or concerns you arrive here with, they will soon be dispelled.Looking forward to getting to know you-look after yourself.
  12. Hi Joppette, Good to hear from you again, hope you are well, nice someone else here shares a similar climate to Scotland,I get so jealous of Ned in Hawaii and Judy in the Florida Keys,God bless them.Gosh hasnt this site transformed my understanding of the geography of the United States and Canada,I guess one year from now I could become an expert and enter T.V.Quiz programmes with North America as my specialist subject. You know something I think they should set up a web site for elementry school children,to communicate with each other in an international scale, maybe help stop all the wars that take place.I have large Times World Atlas I could refer to in placing each buddies location in my mind, but thats too easy,if I am stuck I would rather ask the buddy, bear with me please, hope Iam right-West Michigan-well known name to me I can mentally see the Great Lakes,Chicago down at the bottom,Wisconsin up a bit to the left(my college has a educational link to the college there and I have played host to one of the acedemic staff on a visit to Scotland)I digress, where was I,(stalling for time)West Michigan-snow in April?must be up near the border with Canada-OK is it on the banks of Lake Eyrie ? I can hear you laughing at my ignorance, put me out of my misery, was I close i.e.within a 1000 mile radius,OK I know,I am not yet ready for my tv quiz appearance.Think you have suffered enough Joppette, nice talking to you,bye for now.
  13. Hi Bruce, Thanks for your reply, certainly makes sense in the breathing stakes.Sorry about your English Heritage,it could happen to anyone and also nobodys perfect (you better not read my reply joke to Ann)bye for now.
  14. Hi Bud, Great to catch you online,I dont have an accurate handle yet the time zone differences,Iam currently at 5.55pm BST(British Summer Time)I guess you are 6/7 hours behind me,I have a indoor bowling tie at 6.30pm,(no not the ten pin type, but the carpet type season finishes in a fortnight)then its outdoor on grass. Thanks for your reply good to hear you manage so well,I am now convinced I can buy a bike,be good for producing endorphines in my brain as well as improving my fitness levels, only bit concerned about local volume of road traffic until I get into a bit of countryside. Thanks again for your reply,I enjoy reading your mailings.
  15. Hi Bruce, That a fine Scottish name ye have there laddie, dae ye huv any Scottish connections? Thanks for the informative reply, excuse my ignorance-what is COPD ? Well done on your lung capacity tests, gives hope to me in successfully pedalling my bike, might even be able to give old Bud a run for his money-aye pigs might fly.
  16. Hi Bud, Iam on holiday from college for the next two weeks(shh-I am not supposed to be on my laptop just now-my wife has arranged some bedroom makeover work for me and filling a skip with junk from the garage-but Rome wasnt built in a day)Wow 42 degrees-thats not spring here in Scotland-thats high summer. However, there are some compensations living in Scotland,we do not have to self-access ourselves for tax purposes, which is just as well with my accountancy skills I would end up in jail. I am interested in your fitness level in maintaining the capability to cycle long distances,I was a keen cyclist in my youth and with your example, I was thinking about buying a bike myself, I do not know if this feasible as since my lung surgery,I get a bit breathless walking uphills(on the flat seems ok)I wonder if my breathlessness is more due to lack of fitness or missing a bit of lung?Did you have any breathlessness problems?
  17. Hi Ann, Brilliant as ever, should change this to Thursday morning laugh, did you hear the one about - Young man trying without much sucess to chat up a woman in a bar, finally she says to him-look you are wasting your time -I am a ****,whats that he replies, puzzled, well she says, see that young woman over there in the corner,I would like to take her home and make mad passionate love to her all night.Gosh says the young man I must be a **** also, cos, thats just what Id like to do. Young bull to old bull-I say, why dont we run down this hill and make love to one of the cows in the valley? Old bull to young bull-Why dont we just walk down to the valley and make love to all of the cows. Gabriel to God at the beginning of time- Ah! God I am just back from a meeting with all the angels about your plans for Scotland What about them says God Well we think youve been a wee bit too generous to the Scots. In what respect says God Look at generous areas of outstanding areas of natural beauty you have given them, the wildlife, eagles, deer, salmon and ptarmigan to name just a few. Well says God smiling wryly-just wait to you see the neighbours Iam giving them.
  18. Hi Tracey, Welcome to LCSC,we all can appreciate the rollercoaster of emotions that you and your family are going through. The buddies here have such a wide experience and knowledge,so lean on us for a while, sharing can lighten your burden. Can I make a suggestion, read the buddies stories, their staging and treatments,Iam sure you will begin to appreciate that there is good evidence for a firm foundation for hope.Shortly after my dx,I lost over a stone in weight, due to over-anxiety, now look at me,over 18 months later,I am now a stone OVER my"normal" weight, think I need to diet. I do hope your Dads scan to-day has a good outcome, please pass on to him and your family my good wishes.

Hi Dawn, What a great idea! would love to participate,I am on holiday for the next two weeks and do have more time for emailing,Wednesday pm my wife and I ,my wee sister and her granddaughter are going to the cinema ,I think I have to add 6/7 hours onto your local time to syncronise with you,so Ill probably miss out,but will try when I come home, please keep me informed about future live chats-love reading your mailings. 23. Now thats what I call funny-thanks for my smile
  24. Phone answering machine message- If you want to buy marijuana- press the hash key. A guy walked into a psychiatrist wearing only clingfilm for shorts. The Shrink says "Well,I can clearly see your nuts" I went shopping the other day to buy camouflage trousers, but couldnt find any. My friend drowned in a bowl of musli-a strong current pulled him in. I went to a seafood disco last week and pulled muscle. Two eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly-so they lit a fire in their craft ,it sank, proving once and for all,you cant have your kayak and heat it' Police interviewing the teller of the bank that has just been robbed by a slug and a snail "Oh where do I begin-it all happened so fast" Doc I cant stop singing "The Green Green Grass of Home" Hmm That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome. Is it common? Well-Its not unusual. Doc to patient, go over to that window and put out your tongue. "Are you checking to see if its coated?" No-I just dont like the guy who lives across the street. A man takes his Rottweiller to the vet "My dog is cross-eyed is there anything you can do for him? The vet picks the dog up and examines his eyes ,then checks his teeth,Finally he says "I am going to have to put him down" "What" says the man "Because he is cross-eyed?" No,because he is really heavy.
