  1. Kate,

You do have alot on your plate. My advice??? Just Breathe. Sit and Breathe. Everything will still be there after youve sat... but your going to pop like a balloon if you dont slow down. I know it sounds impossible, but you need ot rest every now and then. Noone can take all that stress with out going bonkers... Just breathe...

  2. Beth,

My dad is on Taxtore, but does recieve both steroids the day before and after chemo, they say to keep his white blood cells up, and benedril the day of before chemo cause he had an alergic reaction to Taxtore the first day. I dont think it is at all uncommon, and he gets both through IV...

    hope this helps...

  3. Ray,

Dont worry about the surgery. True we lost our DavidA, but I dont think that will happen again. My dad came out of surgery just fine in June, and boy let me tell you what a relief it was for him to get the alien (tumor) out of his body. That alone eased his mind 200%. Currently my dad is NED, and is going through preventative chemo, which his dr.'s say is the best way to go. I think you have the best plan.

  4. Thanks everyone for your replies. Im not freaking out or anything, just kind of curious of whats in store for us now. I think after my dads preventative chemo is over (3 more rounds-9weeks to go), Ill be freaking out cause we just have to wait  . I know those scans are going to be nerve racking! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks!

  5. Jane,

I know what kind of makeup your talking about, but I do not know if it may be harmful... I do know that I think about that kind of stuff all the time. Weve been remodeling our house for 2 years now, and Ive been inhalaing all kind of stuff, insulation particles, spackle dust, paint and sanding fumes, and I wonder all the time what this stuff is doing to me. I think the bottom line is if it will make you feel better, then stop. If you can get over it, and you dont hear anything about this stuff, keep it up. Sorry I didnt have more infor for you.

  6. Jim,

I am SOOOO happy to hear your good news, and yes I think it will be a well deserved break. I do know that they say all the chemo keeps working after chemo has ended, but I can understand your concern.

After my dad's surgery they had to postpone his chemo cause of complications and we were SOOO worried about the same thing. He was supposto have chemo 4 weeks out of surgery and ended up having to wait for 9 weeks. All in all, so far it hasnt made a difference, so try not to worry.

Again, congrats...and Im SOOOOOOOOO happy for you!! :D

  7. Dani,

SO sorry to hear this news,,, but.... I do hope they can give the chemo orally cause I think being happy about what your doing NOW is just as important as getting treatment in this battle. Sorry I have no answers for you, just hoping things turn up

  8. Herman,

I second the "second opinion" advice. I think its always wise to seek the knowledge of others, and not depend on one dr.'s advice. I dont have any answers for the emphesemia thing... Sorry...
