  1. Laura,

Im SOOO happy to hear that your moms surgery went so well! My dad had his in June, and although he didnt have any complications at the hospital, he did end up with a few at home (nothing serious). Tell your mom were thinking of her, and wishing her the speediest recovery!

  2. Cindy,

I wouldnt worry about your daughter, I was in her place back when I was that young. I did change and now my kids are going to Catholic school, and we go to church every week. Im sure its just a phase.

  3. Dawn,

First off, the dr. is not the most sensitive guy is he?? True, the dr.'s never want to say cured, but there is a thing called NED. My dad is NED right now. Your mom is so lucky to have limited stage that I would think he would be more optimistic!?!! My dads chemo started less than a week after dx. His onc. was really agressive and i dont know if that had anything to do with his good outcome of surgery and all, but Id like to think it helped! Keep your head up, and if you guys are not comfortable with this guy, switch dr.'s. You want someone who BELIEVES that he can help your mom live, not just "buy her some time".

  4. Hi everyone,

Just got to wondering, now that my Dad is NED, how long will he stay that way? I know everyone is different, but were SOOO worried b-cause of the high reoccurance rate the first 2 years after surgery...just wonderin how long you guys stayed Ned! Of course were hopin for FOREVER!!!

I was trying to do a poll about it, but cant figure it out!

  5. Frank,

As Im sure you already know, surgery is the best chance a person with Cancer can have. My dad had his surgery in June. He also is a lifelong smoker, and moderate drinker. Now, 2 months after surgery, hes starting to feel pretty good. Its been a rough 2 months, but things seem to be calming down. I think if you and your mom have the right additude about this, SHE CAN BEAT IT! I think anyone offered surgery should at least really think about it, I mean, you never know what may come out of it... my dad is cancer free right now! I hope this helps you somehow!

  7. Ginny,

PRAYERS FOR A BETTER WEEK! Im so sorry to hear about your friend. I think I told you before that my grandpa just died from ALS this May, and I personally know what a horrible disease that is. I couldnt think of a worse on (of course except lung cancer). Take comfort in the fact that your friend is no longer in pain. I know that disease takes its toll. I meant it when I said IM Prayin for better days for you!

  8. Mary Ann,

Hello! First off, I think David would have LOVED that name! How are you and the boys? David talked about you guys SO often, I was wondering how you guys were with all that was going on in your family. I know its been a ROUGH ROUGH road for you. We all miss him so much, even though we never met, I still feel the loss. Good luck with that puppy, how bout a picture!

  10. Well, over here in cloudy cool Chicago, I havent had my AC on in over a month. Its been a very mild summer, so I think were in for a mighty cold Chicago bone chilling winter! Glad to hear your chillin', wish we had some of that heat here...

  11. Kim,

I dont really have an answer for you, but I do think its a good idea at the very least to call the dr. and alert him of your moms symptoms. Your mom says she dosent feel right, and I firmly believe that a person knows their own body better than any old dr.

Urge her to call. Its better to be a worry wart, then to wait and see what happens...

    Let us know kid...

  12. I think the best advice is to find out what is going on. My dads dx came just in time. If he would have waited, I dont know where he would be right now. Either way, he caught it in time to be able to get treatment, then surgery and is now NED. I hope your guy gets his info soon, it could make the world of difference...

    Welcome, and keep us posted!

    Jamie
