  1. Hi everyone~ Thank you so much for the prayers and advice. God was listening (of course). She called her pulmonary doctor because her ankles started to swell and she had a hunch that she was retaining water as she had done in the past. He prescribed Lasix and the breathing improved and the ankles went down and she spent a lot of time in the bathroom! Thanks again! Kelly
  2. Just an update need some prayer. Mom very tired, short of breath and WON'T CALL THE DOCTOR!!!! Any comfort or advice would be great. Kelly
  3. Pat, I am sorry that this is all going on at once! I'll pray for you.

  6. I have not seen the stomach get mets but I can't say that it can't happen. An excellent question for Ask the Experts. Blessings.
  7. Thank you for responding. I did talk to her onc. about on 9/20/05 but since the results of the scan are ok, we spoke in generalities. I want to be as informed as I can so we can be ready if we need to be. I'll keep researching!!
  8. My mom has no rash but very dry skin on her face, ears, arms and mild diarrhea. She just had a really good scan too!!! I freaked out too when I didn't see the rash!!! I was convinced it wasn't working but it is. Ry is right about people having the rash and it not working for them! The rash is like the statistics- can't be trusted!!! Keep me posted!!
  9. How awesome for both of you!!! Keep kickin' it's butt!!

    Question

I haven't heard of it but you could post the same question on Ask the Experts. Good Luck!
  11. Great news!! She's an inspiration!!! If she can keep up with a 15-year old the mouthwash is miraculous as well as magical!!!
  12. Hi all!! I really didn't think I would have good news for you! My mom's onc. appointment was yesterday and he was very pleased with her scan! The small growth shrunk a lot!! He showed us the scan before Tarceva and the Cyberknife Radiation (beginning of July) and the scan taken last week and you could see the difference!! He is not recommending any further treatment other than Tarceva. I was expecting more chemo another, Cyberknife treatment- something!! She'll be getting scanned in December- 3 months away!! I would rather have 2 monthss but he felt confident with 2. He stressed to her that if she felt anythingsuspicious to call him asap. He even told her that she looked healthier! She was a HAPPY camper! We all were!! The song below by Matt & Beth Redman has helped immensely!!! Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful Where Your streams of abundance flow Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name when I’m found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness Blessed be your name Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise And when the darkness closes in Lord Still I will say Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be Your glorious name Blessed be Your name when the sun’s shining down on me When the world’s “all as it should be” Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering Though there’s pain in the offering Blessed be Your name You give and take away You give and take away My heart will choose to say Lord, blessed be Your name. Kelly
  13. I am trying to research clinical trials just in case that is route we want to go in the future but I am having a hard time. It is so overwhelming- 107 LC trials out there right now!! Can someone who has been,is in a clinical trial or researched them for someone give me some guidance?? Did you talk to the onc. first? Did you print the ones off that you thought looked good and take them to an appointment? What about insurance? Cost? Travel? Thanks!!
  14. Praise the LORD!!! I'm sorry that I didn't see this sooner and get my congrats to you!! It really is whooohooo!!

  17. Thanks for making some noise! LC needs "cheerleaders" out there! I do think that Dana and Peter and their unfortunate experiences will assist in getting the spotlight to be more focused in this diease. I have felt more compelled to do more in the activism side but am not sure how. I like that you saw an opportunity and took it!!
  18. I signed and will be asking others too as well!! Thanks for letting me know about it!!
  19. Glad to hear that she's doing well! The side effects can be so varied from person to person. Stay positive and also her good attitude will make all of the difference! Again glad that you are here getting support. Blessings.

  21. Missy, I know how you feel. A few weeks ago someone called this a roller coaster experience- how true!!! I am sitting here now shedding tears! Things are going well though- nothing specific to cry about just in general crying about the whole mess! HAPPY to hear that things are going well physically and emotionally!
  22. Keep praying. It is keeping me sane and not a basketcase. That reading God's Word is getting me through and able to help to give hope, peace, strength to my mom!! Thank God you are there to be present for all of this. God Bless you!
  23. Family Lung Cancer Study / University of Cincinnati College of Medicine The study of families with lung cancer, led by the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with other study sites, is still accepting participants. Recently reported results show that some close relatives inherit genetic material that increases their lung cancer risk. To participate, please contact research associate Adrienne Perez by email or call her at (513) 558-3120. If this is a long distance call for you Ms. Perez will call you back, so the study will pay for the call. She will send you a short questionnaire asking about your family history of lung cancer.
  24. Special Notices from ALCASE Family Support Study Researchers at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine are evaluating a comprehensive support program (psychological/social) for families of people with lung cancer. If your relative has lung cancer, and you are seeking support, they would like to talk with you. People in the study receive free counseling and support or informational services. Services can be delivered by phone and through the mail so anyone in the United States can participate. Study results will help researchers learn more about how best to support families dealing with lung cancer. 25. I read the 8/22/05 Newsweek article with Peter Jennings on the cover. New CT scan called Spiral CT "can illuminate even the tiniest lesions in lung tissue". It can see growths that are two millimeters instead of two centimeters!! Also checkout great website http://www.lungevity.org/site/epage/15390_447.htm Their mission: to find a cure for lung cancer. It was founded by survivors.
