bluemax14
I would like some opinions on exercise from People who have recieved Chemo and radiation or are still recieving treatments. I have gotten downright lazy and blaming it on the treatments. but don't know if I shoud push myself the way I did before coming down with cancer. Frank Lamb
It is my belief that the more exercise the better, but during treatments most of us get badly fatigued as it is.Probably need to exercise in moderation during treatment so as not to get too wore out.(need all the strength and stamina possible to contend with the txs.) dadstimeon
Everyone is different, with different circumstances. I found exercise to be very helpful for me. Fatigue has been my main complained since day one and I know if I did not do it I would be worse. It has helped me greatly exercising. I walk or ride my stationary (while watching tv) bike an hour a day most days. On that day or two I can't because of fatigue I take a break. I myself would fall into the same trap if I let myself, it's so easy. Start out light, built up. Every bit helps. Hope this helps. Good luck. teresag
Numerous studies back up what Frank and Rich have said. Moderate exercise, avoiding over-exertion, is crucial to fighting cancer-related fatigue.
Don Wood
I agree with all above -- moderate exercise, but do some exercise. Actually, the exercise helps strength and stamina and makes one less tired. As a caregiver, I make sure I go to the gym at least 2-3 times a week, to keep up my health, strength and stamina. I try to get Lucie to use the stationary bike in our home when she can, and then on better occasions, go to the gym for water aerobics. Don M
Exercise for me was an important way to stay focused during my treatment. When I did chemo, I still walked a mile a day, but I also napped a lot. I am retired now and probably exercise more now than when I was working.
