Would you (or have you) take time off from work to care for a sick pet? Is (was) your boss understanding about this or did you have to tell a little white lie and say it was you that was sick?

I have taken time off to take a pet to the vet but for scheduled appointments. Have never really had a sick pet since I've been working.

Didn't lie, just took the time.

So far I have been lucky enough not to have a pet

that sick, however, I would take the time off if

necessary. The good news is I would not have to lie

about it. I work for a great boss

I took time off for a sick dog. She spent two nights at the vet's and continued to fail - I visited her and then had to have her put to sleep. I held her paw and watched the light leave her eyes... Not the way anyone wants to spend their hours of vacation.

I have and would again take time off for my loving canine friend....I also took time off to put our 14 year old Chesapeake down...I think my boss thought I was a bit nuts when I took a week off...but Chelsea was family!
