Getting to Know You - July 12

I had several children's records... The big ones whatever those are called.

And my favorites were the 45s that Mom gave me. There was a Creedence Clearwater and a gospel rock one, and a few others....

As for when I was old enough to buy... I don't remember. Could have been a cassette of The BEach Boys. (My first concert. ;))

My first album that I bought with my own money was "Rubber Soul" by the Beatles. My favorite song was "In My Life." I almost wore that album out, I played it so much. Ahhh...1965!!! I think my mom and day bought be a Beach Boys album before that..."All Summer Long." I also had several 45's that my mom bought me. The really strange and uncanny thing is that the first album Dennis bought was also "Rubber Soul." His favorite song was "In My Life." He used to tell me that song described how he felt about me. We played that song at his memorial service....oh, how I loved that man!!!

There are places i'll remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends i still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life i've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When i think of love as something new

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

In my life i love you more

Kasey- thank God for Fred. I used to buy 45's as a kid when we'd go downtown every Saturday. I don't remember what the first one was but I do remember having Otis Redding's "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay," Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, etc.-- it is after all Motown. If nothing else I was a geeky kid with good taste in music.
