Alternative Treatment??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading on here for days now and it's really helped a lot. Thank goodness there are places like this to go.

My friend Joe wants to do some alternative treatment. He has sclc in the extensive stage, both lungs and lymph nodes. He was diagnosed on June 11th and has only had 3 days of chemo and doesn't want to do that again.

I know it's illegal in some states, but nonetheless, I would like to know if anyone has any experience with using hash oil for thier cancer. He's pretty willing to try anything at this point.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless Everyone here!!

Sorry I haven't a clue. I'm sorry your friend took so badly to chemo, since small cell responds so well to that. They gave me Emend and other anti nausea meds before starting my chemo. Some people start out horrible and it gets more tolerable, others like me start out not to bad then the chemo reactions got worse. I hope that your friend talks to his oncology team before he completely gives up on chemo all together. His choice and his right.

Hash Oil.. Interesting and never heard of it though. I did a quick search adn come up Zero hits here for this item..

Have you read through the Alternative treatment Section Yet?????? There are even clinical studies for alternative treatments being done.

And those are weight related for Hash oil. Not cancer related.

The biggest danger comes from the actual smoking, like tobacco, cannabis has a high tar factor, so smoking it can cause bronchitis and lung cancer. There is now some evidence suggesting that cannabis may cause some own cancers in its own right. Anxiety and possible mental disturbance are possible, some forms are opium based dipped in opium oil which makes the cannabis very potent and even addictive. Illegal to have, sell or give away, it is a class b drug and the police and the courts will prosecute people in procession of it. Stiffer sentences or fines are given if found with large quantities for supplying purposes.

There are options out there to Traditional Chemo treatments but I wouldn't put my life out there for this one!!

My mom had a bad time with the first round of chemo. She was so sick, I came to this board and started screaming that I couldn't allow her to go on anymore....it was pretty emotional and painful for her and for US to see. But, I have to say, it got rid of the cancer for a while. It's almost two years since diagnosis. Unfortunately, it did come back and she's started chemo again. She seems to be tolerating it well for now. But, your question is funny to me. I think your friend could get some relief from hash or pot. I actually told my mom to try it, if she thought it would help with the nausea. She laughed. But she didn't But I though it was a fine idea.

Your friend has to weigh his decisions. If he doesn't treat the small cell it WILL grow quite quickly. And that is scary. He can get thru this. I fhe wants to try some hash, I would think it couldn't hurt. Not doing the chemo might hurt more. I wish you and him the best of luck. Hang in there.

I am so sorry for your friend. I don't know a lot about small cell as I have NSC, but chemo is chemo and some people tolerate it better than others.

I think what you might be referring to is medical marijuana (MMJ). IF this is something he wants to look into, PLEASE make sure that he gets it from a reliable source. I do believe some docs will actually prescribe it in some states. You DO NOT want to get regular marijuana from off the streets, as you don't know what else might be in it.

Good luck and I hope he talks to his onc about all of his options. Please keep us posted.

Hugs - Patti B.

I am so sorry that the chemo didn't go well. We were so lucky with the chemo as dad responded well and we have been in remission for three years. He did find that keeping something in his stomach at all times was a huge help and drinking lots and lots of water (sometimes in the form of eating a full watermelon) would help.

Blessings to you and may you find something that will help.
