I just joined LUNGevity and this is my story

Recommended Posts

I am a new member of LUNGevity. I was misdiagnosed with asthma in February of this year and in July a lung tumor was found in my upper right lob. I had surgery in August and the biopsy came back Stage 1 Lung Cancer. I am one of the fortunate ones due to the fact that I never smoked and that my cancer was found early. I am married to a wonderful man, we have six children and four grand-children. Thank goodness my family is very loving and supportive. I started a team and will walk the best I can for the 8th Annual walk and Rally on November 6, in Naperville IL. My team name is "Marie Jean", in honor of my mother-in-law, Jean who died of lung cancer in 1997 and for myself, Marie. It will be my first walk for LUNGevity and I am very excited to meet many members from this organization. Having lung cancer has been an eye opener about life, pain and what really matters to me in life.

I hope to hear from some of you soon. Take good care of yourselves, Marie

Welcome Marie. Too bad you got misdisagnosed but I'm glad your dx didn't see you advance beyond early stage. Your attitude is great. Glad to hear you are participating in the walk. Your family must be so proud. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Thank you so much for your warm welcome, I really appreciate it. Today was a difficult day for me, my coughing doesn't seem to subside and there is a soreness within my rib cage. My children are coming for a visit with my grand-children this week end, I am really looking forward to it. I love them so much. It also helps to have them around, since I don't want them to worry about me I put on a very happy face and try not to show them that the coughing is bothering me. Take good care of yourselves and thank you again for your warm welcome. Talk to you all soon. :D
