  1. Fellow Survivors, Tomorrow, October 5th, Martha and I depart to attend my 50th year high school reunion. Then following the reunion, we are traversing the Saint Lawrence Seaway to take in the fall colors by cruise ship. I left Havertown, Pennsylvania in 1968 and after attending college in Ohio and an Army career, I rarely returned to my hometown. Although we have no close friends among my high school alumni, we have a shared experience and thus celebrating this life milestone is important. Treatments and outcomes have vastly improved since my diagnosis. Sadly even with improvement, my disease remains the most lethal of all cancers. Today Martha and I live by looking forward to a calendar filled with things we enjoy. We do that because joy is the gift of life. So if you are looking forward to a sea cruise in the winter or a boulevard cruise of your hometown tomorrow night, find the joy in life. We'll return on October 22nd. Till then.... Stay the course. Tom

  2. Hi all, just checking how your all doing, sincerely hope your all ok, things still very raw here , my daughter in law and 4 four grandchildren have fallen out with me and Micky (Jus’s sister) and her two children, it’s heartbreaking 💔We’ve been denied any of his ashes so have nothing to show he ever existed for 52 years except photos and memories , still that’s not why I’ve posted, I check up on you all regularly as Jus would have wanted me too as this place was very special to him as you all were too, I hope life’s treating you all as well as it can, I’m hoping that we will both feel better one day but I’m not holding out much hope, he was such a special person to us as we were and are a very close unit, the hole we now have in our hearts is immeasurable but the love carries on and will never die, take care of yourselves and keep those loved ones close, love and hugs to you all and keep up that wonderful strength you all have, catch up again soon Xx love Izzy xx

  4. Hi everyone, not posted for a while but just wanted to say that Jus’ my son is doing really well, it’s been such a difficult road to travel but I feel we are definitely getting somewhere now, he has had some really good results with the tumour shrinking and the gamma knife doing it’s job, and I feel he is in a better place than he was, but it is still very difficult as the stress fear and pain never leaves you. I follow your posts and am so proud of you all and the way you deal with this terrible card you’ve all been dealt, we are a very close family and Justin’s pain is our pain but together we can get thro this, it’s strength in numbers I say !! I am so very proud of you Jus, couldn’t ask for a better son than you and I love you very much, we will beat this together, Best wishes and hope you all get some good positive results, lots of love Isla xx

  6. Hello Tom. Yes, my friend's situation is very sad. I purchased your book, Scanziety recently because I want to learn as much as I can to help my friend. Even though your experience is different, it still was of great value because of all the great insight you share that is beneficial to someone in his situation from a psychological, emotional, and spiritual level. You give people hope and support a fighting spirit, and that is what my friend needs right now. It's giving him a sense of peace within his turmoil. It's one day at a time, and he is staying the course! Blessings to you and keep up the good work!

  9. Hi Tom, thank you so very much for having so much information for all of us going through either cancer, or maybe becoming cancer! Your journey helps all of us and I am so appreciative of your knowledge regarding how to deal with what is coming ahead of some of us! Thanks again......!

  10. Susan, It was so encouraging for me to read that you are a Stage 4 adenocarcinoma survivor. You are the first person that I have connected with who shares this diagnosis with me. I know there are others out there, but I have not crossed their paths. I have had my lower left lung lobe removed (VATS) and my upper right lung lobe removed (open chest surgery), and then three rounds of chemo. My follow-up CT in March was clear. I will have CT's every 3 months for two years. I would really like to connect to other survivors and also people who have had the thoracotomy surgery. Thanks for being willing to share your knowledge and encouragement.

  13. Forum Members, Tomorrow, my wife and I are leaving on a long vacation. We are attending my niece's wedding then cruising across the Atlantic and attending the second celebration in Ireland (she is marrying an Irishman). We'll also take an extended driving vacation along the wild Irish west coast and spend a long weekend in Edinburgh, Scotland before returning home on June 2nd. I'll try and read your posts as the WIFI gods allow and respond if my I can convince my thumbs to hit the impossibly small keys on an iPhone. LaurenH will help with moderator functions so if there is a problem with the forum or site, message her. I've asked skmcornett (Susan) to reach out to new folks and help them get acquainted. Stay the course. Tom
