  1. I'm tired of calling a local company and being directed to someone in another country. I'm tired of people who don't take responsibility for their actions, their children or their pets. I am sick and tired of businesses that don't really appreciate your business, ship jobs out of the country, and will try to take advantage of employees who need their jobs. I am tired of cell phone junkies walking/driving with no consideration for others. Weaving across lanes, driving eratically, walking in the middle of an aisle while jabbering is inconsiderate, and probably the conversation is not that important, anyway. I'm tired of people that seem to think that smokers "deserve" to get cancer without doing their research and finding how many cancer patients don't smoke. Whew...I feel better already....more to come.
  2. OK...today is our day to rant and rave and get it all off our chests. TOday's question can have as many answers as you have time to type. WHAT ARE YOU TIRED OF???

    Another June 17

(((((((((((((((((((((((((Pat)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Although I know exactly where you're coming from, it's so hard for me to find words that might possibly ease your pain and offer comfort. I have always loved reading your posts, because the love you and Brian shared was always so felt, by others, through your words. Like you, I would give anything to have Dennis back in my life, whole and healthy. I would love to have one of those days when we did absolutely nothing but being together was more than enough. In an effort to "make everything alright in my mind," I constantly tell myself that Dennis was truly an angel that God sent to me for a while to protect me and get me through the tough part of my life. I try to imagine that he is now helping someone else to become a strong and independent person. Pat, my heart absolutely aches for you. I will keep you in my prayers, knowing that God will make things better.
  7. This was written by a 90 year old lady, Regina Brett from Cleveland, Ohio. She still writes a column for a local newspaper there. What an awesome lady...GOd bless her and God bless "our" lady that posted it on our MB.

  9. Since Judy may be traveling right now, I thought I'd go ahead and get the "AIR" circulating today and hope that she'll jump in later. It's so hot here on Florida's Space Coast. It's been in the 90's for a week or do now and the heat has been helping to work up some pretty good afternoon showers. My grass is greener and healthier looking than it's looked in several years, so it's either really good fertilizer or all of this rain. Not sure where to give the credit. I'm sure that Lynn, Judy and I all saw some of the same lightning last night, as we had some pretty good storms rolling around the area. I was so late getting to bed, as I have a problem taking a shower when there are lightning strikes all around. There's just something about pipes, water and lightning that make me nervous...LOL. Finally, the storms settled down a bit and I jumped in the shower. Next weekend, I'll be in Orlando Friday and Saturday night for the state American Legion convention. It will be so nice to just get away for a couple of days and have someone else make the bed!!! Oh, forgot to tell you about a co-worker's latest incident at an upscale hotel. She and her S/O were traveling in Texas, on business, and stayed in a really classy hotel. She woke up and her entire back and sides were covered with these big red whelps. She first thought mosquitoes but after visiting the doctor, confirmed they were bedbug bites. She has been back in the office a week and is still itching like crazy. Makes me a little nervous about staying in a hotel right now. Hope everyone has a great day in your corner of the world!!! Let's have an active posting day today, as things have been dragging a little bit. I miss hearing from everyone!!! Ann
  10. I don't think I ever remember hearing my dad sing anything solo but I do know that he would always sing hymns with the church congregation. But, my mom was a different story. She was always humming a song and sometimes found one that she loved enough to sing, over and over again. There are two songs that come to mind when I think of her singing....Ramblin Rose by Nat King Cole and Silver Threads and Golden Needles....not sure who sang this. Although I don't hear either of these songs often, I do think of my mom when I hear them.
  11. It seems like a lot of people posted yesterday in response to songs that take you back to a happy time in life. So, today's GTKY question will have to do with songs. What is a song that you remember your mom or dad singing when you were a child?
  12. Thanks for sharing this with us. There are some really good points to ponder in this list!!!
  13. 1. Retirement - (Still have years to go) 2. Friday - ( I live for the weekends) 3. Fourth of July - (Extra day off work) Can you guys see a pattern here???? LOL
  14. Just had to share these with you guys..... ne day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very Sexy nightie. 'Tie me up,' she purred, 'and you can do anything you want..' So he tied her up and went golfing. ************ ********* ********* ********* ** A woman came home, screeching her car into the driveway, and ran into the house. She slammed the door and shouted at the top of her lungs, 'Honey, pack your bags. I won the lottery!' The husband said, 'Oh my God! What should I pack, beach stuff or mountain stuff?' 'Doesn't matter,' she said. 'Just get out.' ************ ********* ********* ********* ***** Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is a husband. ************ ********* ********* ******* A Polish immigrant went to the DMV to apply for a driver's license. First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test. The optician showed him a card with the letters 'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.' 'Can you read this?' the optician asked. 'Read it?' the Polish guy replied, 'I know the guy.' ************ ********* ********* ********* *** Mother Superior called all the nuns together and said to them, 'I must tell you all something. We have a case of gonorrhea in the convent.' 'Thank God,' said an elderly nun at the back. 'I'm so tired of chardonay.' ************ ********* ********* ********* ***** Fifty-one years ago, Herman James, a North Carolina mountain man, was drafted by the Army. On his first day in basic training, the Army issued him a comb. That afternoon the Army barber sheared off all his hair. On his second day, the Army issued Herman a toothbrush. That afternoon the Army dentist yanked seven of his teeth. On the third day, the Army issued him a jock strap. The Army has been looking for Herman for 51 years.
  15. Without a second thought....Our House....Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young I'll light the fire You put the flowers in the vase That you bought today Staring at the fire For hours and hours While I listen to you Play your love songs All night long for me Only for me Come to me now And rest your head for just five minutes Everything is good Such a cosy room The windows are illuminated By the sunshine through them Fiery gems for you Only for you Our house is a very, very fine house With two cats in the yard Life used to be so hard Now everything is easy 'Cause of you And our la,la,la, la,la, la, la, la, la, la, la..... Our house is a very, very fine house With two cats in the yard Life used to be so hard Now everything is easy 'Cause of you And Our I'll light the fire And you place the flowers in the jar That you bought today
  16. Name one song that takes you back to the best time of your life.
  17. Saying prayers and sending positive vibes for your friend.[/b]
  18. Name three things you are looking forward to.
  19. The last reunion I went to was my 10 year reunion. In 10 years, people had changed a bit but not enough that you couldn't recognize them. I moved to Florida before my 20 year reunion rolled around. I do keep up with some of my friends online and yes, it is remarkable how some of them have changed. It seems all of the "ugly duckling" kids from high school are now very attractive and many of the "swans" have gained a ton of weight and aren't as dazzling as they were way back then. And, like Ginny, I am not about to tell you how many years it has been since I graduated!!!
  20. Just what I needed, Bruce!!! Something else to drive me completely nuts at work...LOL. You're right, it's impossible for me to do!
  21. Poem to MOM My son came home from school one day, With a smirk upon his face. He decided he was smart enough, To put me in my place. 'Guess what I learned in Civics Two, that's taught by Mr. Wright? It's all about the laws today, The 'Children's Bill of Rights.' It says I need not clean my room, Don't have to cut my hair No one can tell me what to think, Or speak, or what to wear. I have freedom from religion, And regardless what you say, I don't have to bow my head, And I sure don't have to pray. I can wear earrings if I want, And pierce my tongue & nose. I can read & watch just what I like, Get tattoos from head to toe. And if you ever spank me, I'll charge you with a crime. I'll back up all my charges, With the marks on my behind. Don't you ever touch me, My body's only for my use, Not for your hugs and kisses, that's just more child abuse. Don't preach about your morals, Like your Mama did to you. That's nothing more than mind control, And it's illegal too! Mom, I have these children's rights, So you can't influence me, Or I'll call Children's Services Division, Better known as C.S.D.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mom's Reply and Thoughts Of course my first instinct was To toss him out the door. But the chance to teach him a lesson Made me think a little more. I mulled it over carefully, I couldn't let this go. A smile crept upon my face, he's messing with a pro. Next day I took him shopping At the local Goodwill Store. I told him, 'Pick out all you want, there's shirts & pants galore. I've called and checked with C.S.D ... Who said they didn't care If I bought you K-Mart shoes Instead of those Nike Airs. I've canceled that appointment To take your driver's test. The C..S.D. Is unconcerned So I'll decide what's best. ' I said 'No time to stop and eat, Or pick up stuff to munch. And tomorrow you can start to learn To make your own sack lunch. Just save the raging appetite, And wait till dinner time. We're having liver and onions, A favorite dish of mine.' He asked 'Can I please rent a movie, To watch on my VCR?' 'Sorry, but I sold your TV, For new tires on my car. I also rented out your room, You'll take the couch instead. The C .S...D. Requires Just a roof over your head. Your clothing won't be trendy now, I'll choose what we eat. That allowance that you used to get, Will buy me something neat.. I'm selling off your jet ski, Dirt-bike & roller blades. Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights', It's in effect today! Hey hot shot, are you crying, Why are you on your knees? Are you asking God to help you out, Instead of C.S.D..?' Signed, MOM (Mean Old Mother)
  22. Some of these are familiar and some are new to me! One of my friends e-mailed them to me and I thought you might like them as well. Some Of These Tricks Are Very Good Advice: ** I am not sure if somebody said the dryer sheet in pocket would or would not work to keep misquitos away. I think I read it on this forum. ** Be sure and read the last one even if you don't read the rest of them. DID YOU KNOW? Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off of it. That's how the primates do it. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold! Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking. To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up. For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic. Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm! Reheat Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works. Easy Deviled Eggs Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up. Expanding Frosting When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving. Reheating refrigerated bread To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster. Newspaper weeds away Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for- get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers. Broken Glass Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily. No More Mosquitoes Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away. Flexible vacuum To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings. Reducing Static Cling Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... ta da! ... static is gone. Measuring Cups Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out. Foggy Windshield? Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the window s fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth! Reopening envelope If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily. Conditioner Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair. Goodbye Fruit Flies To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever! Get Rid of Ants Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed! INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material ... I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well .... the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free ... that nice fragrance too. You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box ... well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new everyday! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share! Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it ... the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman knew what he was talking about!

    Turtle Shell

Judy, I know all too well about those emotional shells and how hard it is to come crawling out sometimes. Every single married couple that I know has those "fights" and we usually have a hard time figuring out what they were really all about in the first place. So...it's Monday....come on out and play!~!!
  24. Have you attended any of your high school reunions? If so, when was the last one you attended? Were you able to recognize most of your classmates?
