  1. Katie...So sorry I'm late with wishes for a Happy Birthday but...just wanted you to know that I think you're the BEST and I hope you're birthday was every bit as special as you are to all of us!!!
  2. If you were eating at an All-You-Can-Eat Fried Chicken Dinner, how many pieces of chicken would you eat? ***This is a question that is going to be very beneficial to me. Our Legion Riders is cooking an AUCE chicken dinner Friday night and I'm in charge. I think I have enough chicken on order but just want to make sure, so I thought I'd get your opinion.

  4. THIS OR THAT Ham or turkey? Pretzels or crackers? Vanilla or strawberry? Green or blue? Northern or Southern accent? Tall or short? Digital clock or analog clock? Light or Dark? Musicals or westerns? Tired or anxious? Laptop or desktop?
  5. UNDERSTANDING WOMEN (A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE):I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.
  6. The first testicular guard "Cup" was used in Hockey in 1874, while the first helmet was used in 1974. It took 100 years for men to realize that the brain is also important.
  7. Grandma and Grandpa were visiting their kids overnight. When Grandpa found a bottle of Viagra in his son's medicine cabinet, he asked about using one of the pills. The son said, "I don't think you should take one Dad; they're very strong and very expensive." "How much?" asked Grandpa. "$10.00 a pill," Answered the son. "I don't care," said Grandpa, "I'd still like to try one, and before we leave in the morning, I'll put the money under the pillow." Later the next morning, the son found $110 under the pillow. He called Grandpa and said, "I told you each pill was $10, not $110. I know," said Grandpa. "The hundred is from Grandma!"

  9. This was taken at our town's little parade last year. My Ella looks so serious and so patriotic. I'm glad she and her brother are being raised to remember the really important things in life.
  10. Wow, Lil, it sounds like you have a great time coming up. I think the things you are doing to remember our brave servicemen and women are wonderful. I love the idea that people are displaying pictures of their lived ones that were in the military. And...I have no doubt that your potato salad will win! I have some of your recipes that you have shared with me and I know what a fantastic cook you are. I have yet to taste anything that a cajun gal cooks that I don't like!!! Now...for my weekend. Tomorrow morning, I will be working to finish a float that we will have in the Memorial Day Parade in Melbourne. Then, after working on the float for a couple of hours, we will be riding the bike to a Wreath Laying Ceremony to honor our veterans. The rest of my day will be spent doing the normal household stuff....grocery shopping, laundry, etc. Then, on Sunday, my friend is having a Memorial Day party at her house. She's a great cook and I always look forward to a party of hers. Monday morning will be a very busy one. I'll be getting up at 5:00 and heading to our Post to help cook breakfast before the parade. I'll be walking in the parade, helping to carry a gigantic flag that we have. Then, we're having a picnic at our Post after the parade. Sometime, I'll have to fit in time to make a couple of covered dishes to take to the picnic. So....looks like this weekend holds no rest for me.
  11. Yes, I'm afraid I recognize those "old ones" also!!! Clapton....I could really get excited about seeing Eric Clapton in concert again after all these years.
  12. Any special plans for Memorial Day weekend? Do you have anything in your plans that will help honor the brave men that lost their lives to keep us free?
  13. I actually can't answer this question until I go home tonight and count. I'll have to look on the rack, in the shoeboxes in my closet, on a shoerack on the floor of my closet and yes....maybe even under my bed. Tanner (golden retriever) doesn't chew my shoes but he does have this bad habit of laying on them when I kick them off and sometimes he scoots them under the bed. I'm not a shoe freak but I'm always looking for comfortable shoes and that's the reason I have too many.....comfort not fashion.
  14. Oh, Judy...we have to get you hooked on Idol. I didn't watch it for a few seasons but I have been hooked for four seasons now. There are parts, especially during the auditions, that get a little much to take sometimes but after the top 12 (it was top 13 this year) it really heats up! And yes....Rod Stewart was great! I have to admit that he does look older but the voice is still right on. I actually closed my eyes while he was singing just so I could travel back for a while!

    Idol....

Well, looks like I'm in the minority so far, as I was really cheering Kris on. Adam is very talented and has a great career ahead of him but there was just something about Kris that I really liked. Maybe it was that "southern" connection, as I'm from Tennessee/Florida and he's from Arkansas. I was a Gokey fan until he was out and then, my votes went to Kris. I have always liked Adam and have always thought he is extremely talented but I just thought he became too sure of his win and it seemed his attitude changed a bit. I'm sure losing was as big a shock to Adam as winning was for Kris. I too hated the silly awards last night. Hopefully those will go away by next season. The only thing I enjoyed about the awards was seeing Norman Gentle once again. I absolutely loved all of the entertainment during the show! Wow...seeing Rod Stewart singing Maggie Mae really took me back to some really happy times in my life. I also loved Allison's duet with Cindi Lauper and I really loved Gokey and Lionel Ritchie!!! What a great entertainment lineup they had. My heart also went out to David Cook (my favorite Idol ever) when he was singing. I know how he loved his brother that he recently lost to cancer and how hard it must have been for him to sing that song.
  16. HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE. George Phillips , an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me. Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available." George said, "Okay." He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them." and he hung up. In less than five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" (True Story?) I LOVE IT! Don't mess with old people
