Hi to all- Hope you are having a good weekend. Went to onc. thurs. to discuss recent scan. Report no inprovement of left lung tumor did not shrink but did not grow small plural effusion lower left lobe area of lung. Of the four liver lesions only one remains and it is very small. Swelling on left adrenal glad has not changed in a year they ae calling it volume. perhaps the barium that takes me awhile to get rid of just guessing no one seemed concerned.And finally stable disease. All ggod news so why am i so depressed? Just thinking of doom. Last few days just can't get with it thinking so negative. Does this sound like anything any of you have had? Thanks Carlton

Hi Was just reading your reply to a post and you mentioned you and lucie had a trip planned. Does she use oxygen? I contacted the air lines and they will not allow oxygen to be brought on board or the use of a nubulizer that has to be plugged in. Wanted to go up north to visit family and friends. Have you checked any of this out with the air lines? Thanks for your reply. Carlton

Hi Becky Happy Birthday and many many more. I too celebratedmy 67th birthday on Jan. 4th and i am still celebrating. Was diognosed with lung cancer july 2nd -o2 and was told i had about a year. I guess they were fooled i am still here and celebrating. Hope you do the same. There should be a birth week not just a birthday. Have a good one. Carlton

Hello to all of you and a Very Happy New Year. Have not had many happy days lately but today was a good one . Went to my oncologists had cbc and all counts are good will not have to go for daily shots as i had been doing for the last 30 days but the best news was the brain scan was perfect no lesions no cancer is this great or what? Still no explanation as to the swelling of the left eye . Am on oxygen at nite and one thought was that perhaps it was blocking the sinus. But i'll take that. Just wanted to share the news with you all. Thanks Carlton

Hi Katie b--- Thank You for sending me the flyers. I will make copies and get them out everywhere i can. I went for blood work yesterday and put some out on the table and saw them being picked up and read and taken. This is a good thing, and as long as we have some energy to do these things we should as every little bit helps. What a wonderful thing to do to help others is The Donation Classifieds.I to experienced the same thing with my mom waited so long for a whell chaiir but when she passed they were right there to pick it up. Hi Christy--- I to am on coumadin, had some edema in lower legs and doc thought it best to start coumadin. It doestake awhile to get the right dose that wouldbe effective for him. Know it is a pain but he will have to keep getting it checked. It is a good preventitive against blood clots. You don,t need that problem. So hang in there. Carlton

Hi I just asked my oncologist if i should have a flu shot or shot for pneumonia and she said no while on chemo one should not have a shot of live vaccines. wonder why opinions differ. Carlton

Hi Norme- So glad i read your post wish i had you come with me to my oncs apt the other day. I seem to be having the same problem all the ct scans are being read by different radiologists and differ in opinions.Pet scan said no big uptake for the liver ct scan says two new lesions to the liver so onc is going with the ct scan opinions and starting new chemo for it. It is so frustrating not to truly know who to beleive. Have this terrible edema also and no one has a answer as to what is causing it i have heard it is from the chemo to lymph nodes in the abdominal are ato i really don't know what is causing it mean time i go on suffering with it every day. Hi I have never heard of any adverse reactions to the ports when i was suggested that i have one put in as chemo is hard on the veins and does need large veins and after all the poking and discomfort i decided to go for it i can honestly say i should have done it sooner . I have no problem at all as a matter of fact i had it put in on a monday and had chemo on friday. Just make sure after use it is flushed out as to not get infections.hope this helps you with your decision. Calton

Hi Rinksgal and Norme, Thank you so much for thereply on scans etc. It is so frustrating when one has the best doctors in their fields and there is so many different opinions. But i will make sure i am satisfied with the explanations. I have extensive edema from my knees down to my toes and again all kinds of explanations but no results. The oncolagy nurse who programs the chemo says it is from the chemo gemzar which i was on for 10 treatments one every other week for the lesions to the liver which they have now stopped and next week i start on taxatere one treatment every three weeks i beleive it is for 9 weeks or so. the oncologist says it is frim the chemo also, my pulmanary doc says he beleives it is caused by the lymph nodes in the abdomen being compromised by the cancer ( i have nsclc ) He set me uo with a apt with a vasular doc as pet scan showed uptake in upper left thigh. Will see him on tues for the second time. First visit he did not have copies of the scans and i had to sign for him to reveiw the actual films. This new privacy thing i guess. I kinda feel it has something to do with the lymphs as after two different rounds of durietics that did nothing at all now on a third . On and on it goes but when one does not get any answers it is frustrating. But enough said for now thanks again for you responce. Carlton

Hi everyone ---I just had a ct scan of the chest and abdomen after finishing chemo. Had a pet scan in june and went to get my records. They seem to differ in the lesions in the liver. Has any of you had this happen and what did your onc. say as to what to beleive. Thanks Carlton

Hi All Ha posted a few days ago about the results any one had while on gemzar. Had been on it for 3 months . Went today for another session and the onc. cancelled will start next week on taxatere as my scan of 2 weeks ago showed 2 new lesions to the lungs. they felt gemzar was not doing me any good. My tumor in the lung is stable. Any one who has been on taxatere find any problems with it i just looked at some of the side effects seems like it is a potent drug. Any help will be much appreciated. Hi Cheryl -I wish you well with your upcoming surgery. Hope it is super glue also. When you can please let me know the name of this glue and any info that you can find out. I had surgery where they put in that tack to seal the lung last July but it was not a success. I had a malignant plural effusion and am doing chemo for the second time .
