  1. I'll show these to mom tomorrow.

    Thank you so much!

oh, and is there anything to do for her head being so sore and tender?

    thanks again!

  2. Lori, I'm so sorry for your loss and no, you're not selfish, you're normal.

And yes, I know MANY others have had similar experiences with their dying loved one talking to loved ones who've already passed away. I think that's very common. I don't think they're hallucinations, I think they're very real. My husband's best friend died last April of pancreatic cancer and near the end, every night, he talked to his brother, who had already passed away.

((hugs)) and prayers for comfort for you.

  3. Would you consider Tulsa, the cancer treatment centers of America? It's a wonderful place, but unfortunately out of my dad's ins. loop too, so his ins. doesn't pay like it should/could. But they have all the latest equipment and treatment options. The people are great too.

    you're in my prayers.

  4. My mom is receiving treatment treatment there and in my opinion there IS NO better place. Five years ago, my mom had stage IIIb lc, she got chemo and radiaion there five days a week, so she and my dad stayed in a room there. They have a healthy foods in the cafeteria, they have classes in nutrition, church services for your spirit, they are just awesome. They treat you like you're their only patient. You can tell you really matter to them. You can PM me if you want to talk.

You and your family are in my prayers.

  5. Lori, I wish I could take away your pain and offer words of advice, but I can't add anything to what these wonderful people have already told you. But, I will be praying for you, and your brother and dad. My friend told me once (after her mom died from breast cancer) that dying is like birth... so hard and painful, but once it's complete, so beautiful and peaceful... I can't imagine that pain you're feeling right now...

    God bless you

    ((hugs)), prayers, and love,

    Christy

  6. An effusive client brought a litter of golden-retriever puppies to my veterinary clinic for inoculations and worming. She loved them so much, she couldn't keep from remarking about their cute habits.

As the look-alike pups squirmed over and under one another in their box, I realized it would be difficult to tell the treated ones from the rest. I turned on the water faucet, wet my fingers, and moistened each dog's head when I had finished.

After the fourth puppy, I noticed my hitherto talkative client had grown silent. As I sprinkled the last pup's head, the woman leaned forward and whispered, "I never realized they had to be baptized."

  7. Peggy, you and your hubby are in my prayers. I'm praying He'll give you peace and take away your worry. Scan time and waiting is the absolute worst. Let Him wrap His loving arms around you during this icky waiting game.

    love and ((hugs))

  8. I just had to share this daily devotional with you all too.

The Holy Spirit Will Help You

    JOHN 14:16 NKJ

16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another

Helper, that He may abide with you forever,

If you allow Him to, the Holy Spirit will guide you in every

area of life; from the words you should speak, to the spouse

you should marry, to the investments you should make.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity of God. It

is difficult for humans to understand how there can be only one

God, as the Scriptures teach, yet He can reveal Himself as

three persons. So do not let it be an obstacle for you, or be

    drawn into fighting about it.

The Holy Spirit is a person, not just a force. He should be

treated with the utmost respect and gratitude.

I have personally found the Holy Spirit to be a wonderful,

wonderful Helper -- in so many ways. Even in simple, practical

things, like reminding me of things, or helping me to find

misplaced items. The Holy Spirit is truly interested in

everything that affects you, and desires to help you -- if you

    will allow Him to.

No doubt, the Holy Spirit has been helping you, too. You just

may not have recognized it. You may have called it "a hunch" or

"it just came to me" or "I just had an idea." Start giving

thanks to the real source of your help -- the Holy Spirit of

    God.

The Bible mentions several ways the Holy Spirit helps: teaching

you all things, bringing the Word to your remembrance, telling

you of things to come, revealing to you the things of God,

comforting you, encouraging you, empowering you to be a

witness, and bringing life and healing to you.

You are not facing life all alone -- as an orphan would. The

Holy Spirit is with you continually -- living with you. When

you need help He is never far away, but always right with you,

waiting for you to call on Him for His help.

SAY THIS: Holy Spirit, I appreciate your help. Thank you for

guiding me in life and helping me in every way.

Now, I feel the need to share something very personal with you.

One night at church, I had several people gathered around me in prayer for a loved one. Then an elderly man, affectionately known as 'the candy man' at church, came up to me and said he felt the Holy Spirit telling him to come over and speak to me. He said the Lord wants you to know that "help is on the way." Then he shared some of his own personal testimony with me. THEN, the next wed. night at church, one of the guys who had prayed with me the previous wed. night, asked how my loved one was doing. He then said, "don't give up, help is on the way." Of course I'm just sitting back in awe at the Lord and His confirmation, and still trying to figure out exactly what it meant. Then, a few weeks later, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, while praying by myself at my home! My Help had come. God is good!

I know there are differing opinions and such on this subject. This is my personal testimony. I know the Holy Spirit had been dwelling in me since the day of salvation, almost seven years ago, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in other tongues, helps you to be even stronger in Him and for Him.

  9. A man was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane stopped in Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind.

The man had noticed him as he walked by and could tell he was blind because his seeing eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the entire flight. He could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him, and calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?"

The blind man replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs."

    Picture this:

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

    True story...

Have a great day and remember...

...things aren't always as they seem.

  10. I'm so glad you gave this to your friend. It's so easy to let our eyes stray from God, we have so much going on, too much sometimes. It's nice to know He's always with us and that He's in control, and that we're not going through anything He doesn't already know about.

I know your boys are blessed to have you, as I am to have my momma. Yes, I've always told her, since I was little, that she was the bestest momma in the whole wide world. :) and she is. :) She so strong and courageous, but she doesn't even see it..

This board has a tendency to make me very emotional... But that's a good thing.

Prayers and ((hugs)) to you and your family and friend.

    Christy

  11. Shellie, my heart aches for you. I wish I could just give you a big hug and make it all better for you, but I know I can't. Your feelings are normal and you have every right to them. I do know Someone who can ease the pain, who can provide you comfort, and yes, even give back that joy again. I'm praying that the Lord would just wrap His loving arms around you and give you such peace and comfort. He loves you so much and will never leave you. I'm praying for you. Feel free to pm me to 'talk' whenever.

    Love and ((hugs))

    Christy

  12. Got this devotional today and thought if very appropriate for us all. :)

    1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 The Message

13 No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the

course of what others have had to face. All you need to

remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let

you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help

    you come through it.

All of us have been tempted to lose hope and give up. But we

always have a choice: focus on God and stay in faith, or focus

on the problem and give up.

Problems -- no matter how huge they seem to us -- are no

problem to God. Nothing is too hard, or complicated, for God to

solve. But God wants us to trust Him.

So what should you do when you are being tempted and feel like

    giving in and giving up?

    Refuse!

Just keep your focus on the Lord and rejoice in His

faithfulness. Remember that God cannot lie, and will never

fail. God will see you through.

    HEBREWS 10:23 NKJ

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without

wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

When the devil tries to steal your faith, he tries to get you

to quit speaking in agreement with the Word of God. Don't let

it happen! Hold fast to speaking your faith! Keep on saying

what the Word of God says about you and your situation. Don't

    be moved by the circumstances.

    GALATIANS 6:9 NIV

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time

we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Don't grow weary. Keep your eyes on the Lord. His Word will

work and produce a harvest of blessing in your life. Don't

    doubt it!

SAY THIS: I will keep trusting in God and never give up!

  13. A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger."

He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then....." he sighed,

"...let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.
