  1. Hey Everyone!!

As most of you know, I am hosting this fundraiser in March. I was wondering if any of you would be interested in submitting your story concerning your Lung Cancer journey. It doesn't matter if you are a caregiver, friend, family member or survivor. I am planning on having posters around the school so the kids can read them. Pictures would be great also. Let me know if you are interested in doing this. You can pm or e-mail.

    Thanks, Jamie

    P.S.

Honorariums and Memorials can also be made. If this is of interest to you, please let me know!!!

  2. Laurie,

Hi and welcome to our site. I wanted to let you know that my particular cancer was locally advanced when diagnosed (Stage IIIB- inoperable). My treatment waas cisplatin/ Etoposide and Radiation---after that I had quite a few treatments of Taxotere. I am now taking Tarceva and have found stability each scan. After the initial treatment with the cisplatin/etoposide and radiation my tumor had shrunk 75-90% and the lymph nodes had shrunk at least 50%. Much success. It was a very hard treatment. They were very aggresive with me because of my young age. Fatigue, pain from radiation mainly, nausea (the worst side effect for me), no appetite were things that I dealt with on a daily basis. The most important thing is that during treatment your dad has to eat and stay healthy. You may want to contact a nutritionist that can assist you with a high caloric diet. I ended up getting a feeding tube to keep myself nourished. It was a lifesaver. The radiation burned the mylar sheaths on my nerves in the back of my neck (so I couldn't eat or drink anything without alot of pain.) I tell you the truth--the treatment was the hardest thing I have ever gone through, but I would do it again and again. I feel great now and normal again. I hope this helps and please feel free to pm me if you have any more questions.

    GOD BLESS!!!

    Jamie

  3. Carol of the Bells

    Hark how the bells,

    sweet silver bells,

    all seem to say,

    throw cares away

    Christmas is here,

    bringing good cheer,

    to young and old,

    meek and the bold,

    Ding dong ding dong

    that is their song

    with joyful ring

    all caroling

    One seems to hear

    words of good cheer

    from everywhere

    filling the air

    Oh how they pound,

    raising the sound,

    o'er hill and dale,

    telling their tale,

    Gaily they ring

    while people sing

    songs of good cheer,

    Christmas is here,

    Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,

    Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,

    On on they send,

    on without end,

    their joyful tone

    to every home

Dong Ding dong ding... dong! Bong!.

  4. Sam got on a plane, and finding himself seated next to a cute blonde, immediately turned to her and made his move. "You know," he began, "I've heard that flights will go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger. So let's talk."

The blonde, who had just opened her book, closed it and looked at him warily. "What would you like to discuss?"

"Oh, I don't know," said the guy. "How about............... nuclear power?"

"OK," the blonde agreed. "That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff-----grass. Yet the deer excretes little pellets, the cow turns out a flat patty, and the horse produces muffins of dried poop. Why do you suppose that is?"

The man was dumbfounded. Finally he replied, "To be honest, I haven't the slightest idea."

"So tell me," said the blonde. "How is it that you feel qualified to discuss nuclear power with me, when you don't know s**t?"

  5. Colonoscopies are no joke, but these comments during this exam were quite humorous ... A physician claimed that the following are actual comments made by his patients (predominately male) while he was performing their colonoscopies:

"Take it easy Doc! You're boldly going where no man has gone before!"

    "Find Amelia Earhart yet?"

    "Can you hear me NOW?"

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

"You know, in Arkansas, we're now legally married."

"Any sign of the trapped miners, Chief?"

"You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out..."

"Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels!"

"If your hand doesn't fit, you must quit!

"Hey Doc, let me know if you find my dignity."

"You used to be an executive at Enron, didn't you?"

And the best one of all...

"Could you write a note for my wife saying that my head is not up there?"

  6. A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.

She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl.

She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity. Boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

  7. Nelson,

I am sorry you are having to deal with this. I have never dealt with mets. But, I wanted you to know that I am here for you whenever you need anything. Prayers for you.

    GOD BLESS!!

    Jamie
