    Taxotere

Hi Jenny I've been taking Taxotere (both weekly and 3-week cycles) since October and have had great results with it. I don't experience any of the peripheral neuropathy I had with Taxol, nor do I have any of the swelling I had with Taxol. I'm losing some hair with Taxotere, but I haven't lost it all like I did with Taxol. All in all, I find Taxotere pretty easy to tolerate. Hope your mother has good results with it. Trish
  7. Hi Barbara, welcome to the site. I had a port-a-cath inserted in August '05. I was knocked out completely for the procedure and never felt any pain. It does make getting the chemo much easier and I highly recommend getting a port. Good luck to you. Trish

  12. I smoked for 30 yrs. and it was a 4-day hospital stay (diagnosed with lung cancer) that helped me quit. Once I got home, I knew that I could go at least 4 days without a cigarette. I also promised my doctors that I wouldn't ask them to do everything they could for me if I wasn't willing to do everything I could for myself -- quitting smoking was the biggie. I've stayed quit for 7-1/2 months now and only on very rare occasions do I have cravings any more. Good luck with the treatment and with the cigarettes. I'm sending positive energy your way. Trish
  13. Beckie My prayers are with you and your mom and family. Hope mom's treatment goes well. Take care of yourself -- you sound like a wonderful daughter. Trish

  21. Hi Barbara Sorry you had to find us. Like you, I was dx'd IIIB. After many rounds of chemo and 25 rad treatments, I was told that surgery would not be possible for me. 10 more rad treatments and chemo, I was downstaged to IA. I have 1 more chemo treatment to go and then will, hopefully, be declared cancer-free. Stay positive and hopeful, chemo and radiation work wonders. Trish
