  1. Hi Antoinette Pain is probably the one thing I am not having while on Tarceva. I've got the rash (getting better), reflux, dry skin, dry eyes, and dry mouth. My biggest problem is diarrhea from C-diff (non-Tarceva related) which we are still trying to get under control. It's always something. Trish
  2. Hi Shirlie: Your face is probably red from Decodron, a steroid given to help you tolerate chemo more easily. I would turn red as a beat the day after chemo. I found that taking a couple of Benadryl helped; it also made me very drowsy, which was a good thing, because the Decodron also caused tremendous roid rage in me. Good luck with the treatments. Trish
  3. Praying for you and your mom. Trish

  7. Hi Shirlie: Ginny's right -- lots and lots of water. Bring some food with you too, you'll probably be there about 5 hours and you will get hungry. Good luck and I hope it goes well. Trish
  8. I had mine inserted in time for my first round of chemo. Mine is just below my shoulder bone and hides underneath my bra strap. I find it to be very inconspicuous and, like others have said, it makes chemo a breeze. Much better than digging around for vein. I highly recommend it. Trish
  9. Glad it went well today and hope the final decision is in your mom's favor. Trish
  10. I had my port inserted before I had my first chemo session. Have had it since August '05 and have had no problems with it. Trish

  16. Hi Antoinette I'm on day 13 (I take 150 mg once a day)of Tarceva and started getting the rash on Sunday. I started minocycline (1 pill daily) on Monday and I can't really tell if its doing anything yet. My rash was limited to my chin and nose, with the chin being the worst, before I started the antibiotic. I'm getting some new outbreaks, but the white-head looking things that were there before appear to be drying out. I'm hoping the worst is over. My oncologist had no hesitation in giving me the antibiotic; in fact, he warned me that if I got the rash I should just call the office and they would phone in the prescription. If you find something that works, please let me know. Trish

  21. Hi Jim, Today is day 8 on Tarceva for me and so far the rash (pimply, gross white-head mess) seems to be confined to my chin, with red patches on my nose and cheeks. Lovely!!!! I'd bet we fellow users would be able to recognize each other as users by the tell-tale markings on our faces. Why not a scarlet T? Sigh. Trish
  22. Teri, I'm truly saddened by this news. I wish you peace and comfort in this next phase of the journey. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Trish
  23. Jamie, I'm so glad you'll have your husband home with you again. Really good to hear that he's doing better and that treatment can start soon. Stay strong. Trish
