  1. Natalie, My husband had brain surgery and then 14 whole brain radiation treatments. I have never seen brain rad more than 14/15 times. Good luck.

    clean scan

Marie, How wonderful. It seems that most of our Pennsylvania people are doing well. Let's start a fad.
  3. Rocco, We are also at Fox Chase. Our drs. are - Dr. Melvyn Goldberg, thoracic surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Movsas, radiation oncologist and Dr. Roger Cohen, medical onc. Who are your drs. By the way welcome to the board.

    Hydrocephaly

Jennifer, I have no info to help you but hope the neurologist does. Good luck.
  5. Dear Ada, I am so sorry to hear that you got somewhat bad news and somewhat good news. You have been so very helpful to me and I really appreciate it. I will say a couple of extra prayers for Iressa to work and for the cyst to disappear.
  6. Nancy, Welcome to our board, wish you didn't have to be here. My husband finished radiation April 18th. He was already TIRED from his previous treatments. He is still tired but each week he gets a little stronger. Make sure your Dad is getting enough nutrition. Good luck
  7. Another opinion - you bet your life I would.

Jonathan, I would also check the Natl Cancer Institute and any other charitable org that may have funds for uninsured people.
  9. Estelle, I am so verrrrrrrrrrry happy for you.

Big congrats for shrinking little tumors.
  11. Dear Karma's Dad, Welcome. I hope that they find a treatment for you. Many good things are happening in medicine right now - there will be one for you. You are in my prayers as are all of the wonderful people in our group.
  12. Cindy, You go girlfriend. Each and every LC patient needs a STRONG ADVOCATE.

    We got GOOD news !!!!

Yippee Hip hip hooray PS to Don: Hey Don, you found font and color, oh boy are we in trouble!!!!!
  15. Sam, So glad to hear GOOD NEWS, YEP I LOVE GOOD NEWS. I think you should do like the military pilots and get your wife's name painted on the O2.
  16. Terry, Welcome, but sorry you are here. If you read my profile, my husband is very similar to yours. He also does not ask the drs. about the stats or survival rates. Albeit, the drs told us from the beginning that there was a 40% cure rate with his type of cancer and because he was young and healthy. He turned 61 in Jan. I only research the treatment options and side effects. If I accidentally get to a site that preaches gloom and doom I am gone. The stats only put me in a deep funk and I do not want to be in any kind of funk when I am with him. Why are they not talking surgery?? It looks like my husband will have some long term problems from the whole brain rad. They think it damaged his inner ear, so he has balance and vertigo probs. They told him he will learn to compensate, since the meds to help this only make you sleep. Also, his concentration and short term memory leave something to be desired. But these are constantly improving and our onc. said other parts of his brain will continue to take over for the cells that were damaged in radiation. Glad you are here, it has been infinitely helpful to me.
  17. Beth, Dr. Cohen said that Megace can cause blood clots with NSCLC. Better to be skinny.
  18. As Don says second opinions help cement that you are making the right decision for care. Also, the rapport you feel with the dr. can help or hinder this journey. We had two exact treatment plans, but my husband felt more comfortable with the second doctor. BUT do not let the second opinion slow down the treatment schedule.
  19. Yeah Bob, I hope you are pooped today from all the celebrating last night. Good news, I love good news.
  20. Beth, Now I know that you are Laura's Mom. You go to the same onc. as my husband, Dr. Roger Cohen. We have been going to FCCC since the beginning of November - so ask me any questions you may have. We have dealt with both FCCC and U of P and have found Fox Chase to be an equal medically but far superior attitudinally. Good luck on this journey.
  21. Shannon An apple a day keeps the doctor away. You can quote me if you want. So glad for Mike. (And you)
  22. Dear Beth, Welcome to our group. I wish you did not have to be here. While my name is Ginny, my husband calls me the Food Nazi and it is in his charts just how obnoxious I am about him eating. I kind of believe that the stronger you are the better you will be able to tolerate the treatments. And, to me anyway, food is the fuel that the body needs to be strong. I am sure that eating (with tastes and smells being so bad) is very difficult. But maybe if you think of food as just another medicine that in the long run is going to help you, it will be easier. My husband has an Ensure Plus (more calories than plain Ensure) with 3 scoops of ice cream every night. We do this in the blender. It is very cold and goes down very easily. Again welcome and let us know if you have any questions or whatever.
  23. Add my name to the Don Wood's Fan Club. Will we get T-Shirts and autographed pictures? Hey Don, I also think you are pretty lucky to convinced Lucie to marry you.
  24. Sam, Don't know much about fishing except that it is a good idea to fish where the fish live. Heehee Have fun - you deserve it.
  25. Welcome Donna, You must be very proud of your daughter, she is certainly very concerned about you and loves you very much. We are sorry you need to be here but hope you find help and joy here.
