  1. Yesterday was a slow day on the board. I hope that meant everyone was having a wonderful day. But I felt pretty lonely not seeing a lot of posts.

I could not connect to LCSC all day yesterday. I kept getting a message that website was unavailable. I tried since I got up at 5:30 AM but same response. I did manage to get on here about 3 PM today.

I saw a lot of post from yesterday and early today. Wonder why they could get on but I could not.

Did anyone else have this trouble?

The roller coaster ride continues. I am starting to feel a little silly worrying so much about this when most of you are going through bigger problems right now.

    Karen,

We are all on this roller coaster together. There is no getting off. What I am trying to say is this...your problem is our problem. we are not satisified until you get good news. Until then we will all keep our fingers crossed and continue our prayers for David.

Now in the mean time, and I know it is hard to do, but you and David stay busy and stop borrowing trouble by worrying. Now keep your head up and :):):) .

  3. I will be saying a prayer whether I hear a cricket or not. Hope you get the results you want from the biopsy. I remember laying on my stomach for three hours. Good Luck. Remember to :) .

  4. Congragulations Debi. I am always glad to see good news like this. I had my surgery 1 year tomorrow also. I quit smoking when I was dx in 3/03. Many times, a lot lately, I have wanted just 1 cigarette. I know if I do I won't stop at 1.

Look forward to your post and chat. Let's work on making it 2 years.

    Now :):):) .

  5. Tina,

You and Charlie are in my prayers for good results. we all know the agony of the wait. Stay busy to keep your mind occupied. Take a trip to Dollywood (if the rain stops long enough). Just relax and enjoy. Don't borrow trouble. Take care and God Bless. :):):)

  6. Hope this does not offend anyone. If it does, let me know and I will delete it. :):):)

    ICE FISHING

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was a Presidential election that was too close to call. Neither the Republican presidential candidate nor the Democratic presidential candidate had enough votes to win the election.

Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the final winner. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the [manly] way to settle things.

The candidate that catches the most fish at the end of the week wins. After a lot of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest would take place on a remote and cold lake in Wisconsin. There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately

on this remote lake and return daily with their catch for counting and verification.

At the end of the first day, George W. returns to the starting line and he has 10 fish. Soon, Kerry returns and has zero fish. Well, everyone assumes he is just having another bad hair day or something and hopefully, he will catch up the next day. At the end of the 2nd day George W. comes in with 20 fish and, again, Kerry comes in with none.

That evening, Bill Clinton gets together secretly with Kerry and says, "I think George W. is a lowlife cheatin' son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don't even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see if he is cheating in any way.

The next night (after George W. comes back with 50 fish), Clinton says to Kerry, "Well, what about it, was George W. cheatin?'"

"He sure was, Bill, he's cutting holes in the ice."

  7. David and Elaine.

I don't happen to think that either of you are demons. I don't know about the angel part tho. I read your post now for little over a year and have not saw a single post that would classify you as a demon.

I don't have any music talent but maybe I could do something to act like I could. :):):)

  8. Hi Don,

I had chemo and radation at the same time. I had very few side effects. Actually I had none. I am a bit younger than your mom tho. They could not operate on mine at first till the chemo/radiation shrunk it. Will keep you and your mom in my prayers.

  9. My brother was dx in 1993. He was a private person. I took care of his financial affairs etc because Social Sec felt he would blow his check. Anyway, I was the one that would help him with things etc. Our mother was alive at the time also. He had part of a lung removed in 1993. I never knew much about his medical affairs. He told no one. I felt he told mom tho. Anyway, as the years passed, everytime he went to the doctor or I saw he was feeling bad I'd ask what the doctor said and he would tell me that everything was normal. Normal to me then had a different meaning than now. What was normal to him? Cancer progressing at "normal pace" or "nothing wrong normal?" As I watched him loose weight and use inhalers I knew he was looking bad. Yet, his reply...nothing wrong...normal.

Last time he was in hosp he did tell his doctor he wanted him to talk to me (his choice) and that I was going to call. The conversation was that

he had cancer in the medistien (sp) area and that he was not as lucky as before. He just did surgery on his stomach area a few days before. It was prob a met I don't know. The surgeon told me he saw a small spot on his liver also. When I ask if he removed it while there he said he was not concerned about it. The lung cancer would take him before that spot could grow.

Anyway, while he was in hosp, the reason my brother wanted me to talk to doctor was to get my opinion on chemo and radiation. The doctor told me he could give him little chemo and/or radiation but that we were talking of adding days not years to his life. Didn't know if he would make it out of hosp or not. This was an option to get him through Christmas. This was Dec 4. I left it to my brother and he wanted the extra days for his daughter at Christmas. He wanted to go home and not the hosp. He went to mom's house but I took him to my house. She was 80 years old and I knew if something happened she coild not handle it.

He never got the chemo or radiation. He passed away 3 days later at my house.

This turned out long and a little off your orig post Debi but my point here is that as close as we were I never knew his real condition. Often wonder now what type cancer he had etc. I wonder if I could use some of his medical history for my self. I had no clue that a few years later I would be fighting cancer.

Also my mom passed about 9 months after he did. You know what the cause was...you guessed it Lung Cancer. She never was staged or really dx except for doctor saying he felt like it was LC. At her age he said if he done some poking and probing and all, what could he do at her age. She had fluid that kept coming back. Test on fluid showed no cancer but he felt it was. Wish I knew of a board like this back then.

  10. Good question Karen. I am going to expand it a little further if you don't mind.

Of all the tests we go through with lung cancer, do we need seperate test for things like prostate, colon and others. For you ladies, breast and female cancer. If we are told NED does that mean "lung only" or does that include all types.

Again good question. Now I hope I did not create a mad rush if someones tummy growles. We already know what it is like to hear the least little thing that doesn't sound normal. My wife called my pulm dr one night cause I had a fever and coughing. He was not on call but his on call doctor said "well a person with one lung can catch a cold too." Point here is here don't start panick and say "oh I need this done or that done.

I will try to ask my onc this but don't see him for 4 more months so if anyone knows the answer , please post it. :):):)

  11. I pray for EVERY member here daily. For the ones that I see going through hard times I pray for by name. That is one reason I check the board 3-4 times daily. I am sure you will be fine. Snowflake had some good advice too. Stay busy to get it off your mind. Get tired before you go to bed...you will sleep better. Also do this a lot...:):):):):):):)

    God Bless.
