  1. (((((Cheryl))))),

Sounds like you will have the same course of treatment I did. It can be a bit much at times but as long as you can rest and eat you will get through it. My Dr. gave me Ativan to ward off any naseau (sp) and it worked the best. They tried to give me Ethyol for the radiation but THAT made me sicker than a dog, lol.

Prayers for cure and God Bless.

  2. ATM,

I am sorry to hear about your Grandmother. There is no sense in guessing what it COULD be. I would ask the Dr. and get their opinion on what it is. I would think that they did a biopsy on what they found and should be able to give you the answers you are looking for.

Prayers and good wishes for your Grandmother. God Bless.

  3. (((((Cheryl))))), I know hearing the words "You have Cancer" is probably one of the most traumatic things a person can go through but I also know that there is ALWAYS hope for a cure.

My hair came out 2 weeks after my first chemo treatment but I had gone in and had it cut short before chemo so it wouldn't be so traumatic. Mine was long enough that I was able to send it to Locks of Love which provides wigs for children who have lost their hair due to chemo or illness.

I will be praying for you and for your Dr. that they have the knowledge and the wisdom to get you on the right treatment path. God Bless you.

  4. Dean,

I was told when I started this journey that attitude played a large part in a persons recovery. I am a firm believer in that! I have seen people who have been dx'd just give up and it wasn't long till they were dead. Me on the other hand, I am fighting all the way because as you said, there is to much living to be done to give up now! I am also a firm believer in God helping us get through each day of this battle and of his leading us to do what we need to do to fight it. Prayers and best wishes to you and your Dr's. God Bless.

  5. Ok, I asked my rad tech today about the smell and he said most people do experience it. He said it is a flash of ozone when the machine starts as they run 6 MILLION volts of electricity throught the machine!! He doesn't know what causes the light flashes but he did know about the smell.

  6. Cherbut, As long as you are drawing a breath there is hope. Don't let your Dr. get you down. Seek a second opinion or at least a more caring Dr. Remember, he/she is working for you. If you don't like they way he/she is taking care of things, fire them! Statistics like rules are made to be broken. Prayers and best wishes being sent your way. God Bless.

  7. Faye,

I am sorry you have to continue with chemo. Keep a good thought about what you will do NEXT NewYears Eve! I too lost my eyelashes and eyebrows but they came right back as soon as I was done with chemo. I got pretty good with eyeliner and a brow pen though, lol. Best wishes to you and God Bless.

  8. So I am NOT Crazy, lol. I had the distinct smell of bleach both yesterday and today when they started the machine and I have seen red and green flashes! Ewwwwwwwwwww, this is spooky!! I hadn't said anything to my Dr as yet but I will tomorrow and let you know what he says.

  9. Sounds like you have some great Dr.s. I was also dx'd with limited sclc and mine have said the same thing! I am done with chemo and have started PCI. Prayers being said for you, your family and your Dr's. God Bless.

  10. (((((Shelly))))),

Sometimes we just have to get it off our chests before we explode (or implode). God Bless you sweetie in getting through the holidays and beyond. I will be praying for your daughter and her Dr.s that they can get this under control quickly.

  11. Thanks Karen. I got another headache today after tretment so I guess it will be a side effect. I told my onc. nurse about the headache I got yesterday and she said the same thing but she said they tend to taper off somewhat once the brain "gets used to" the treatments. I am going to try and not take the steroids unless I really have to. I have been so very lucky so far (thank you God) and not had to take many drugs (besides chemo). Never was a drug taker other than the occasional asprin and I just can't get used to taking them now, lol. I have made one concession however and have taken off my wig at work, lol. Of course, I have my own office and have the door shut but it still feels better, lol.

Hope things are going well for David, he is in my prayers.

    God Bless.

  12. I started PCI this morning and about 1pm I started to develop a major headache. I have taken Tylenol and the pain seems to be getting worse instead of better. I have a hard time believing that 1 treatment could cause a headache this bad but I don't know. Did anyone else experience terrible headaches when undergoing PCI? What did you do for them??

  13. Cathy,

I know it is hard to make it through the first few months. The first holiday, first Fathers Day, first birthday without them really sucks! I lost my Mom to cancer 11 years ago last month and my Dad 10 years and 6 months ago so I know the feeling you are having. As has been said, there are so many times when I want to pick up the phone and call Mom or Dad and tell them what is going on in my life. When my Grandsons were born, when I divorced, when I was DX with cancer.............. then it dawned on me.........They KNOW what is going on in my life. I am sure they are watching over me and waiting for the time we are together again.

Give your self time to go through the greiving process, it is different for everyone but one day you will wake up and it will take an hour or two before you think about your Dad and then it will be a day or two and while you will always miss him it won't always feel like it was yesterday. God Bless you and hang in there sweetie.

  14. Kate, My Dr. has told me that once it starts in the brain it is MUCH more difficult to erradicate. Better to get the jump on it and kill any nasty little cells before they get a chance to take hold. I started my PCI today and I agree, lol, the mask is a bit much. No real problems but a bit of a headach this afternoon. Don't know if it is JUST a headache or if it is a side effect. Will have to wait and see if I get one tomorrow.

Good Luck Wenna and God Bless.
