  1. Geri,

I am so sorry about this booby news. Not fun I know. But you did make it through some touch treatments before ..hoping this will be a piece of cake. Thank goodness for you insisting on the MRI. I never would have thought of it.

One question...is this awful stuff on the same side you had radiation before? AT least I think I remember radiation in your profile.

Keeping you in my prayers Geri. This will work out.

  2. Jimbo,

Glad you found us but sad you had the need to look us up. Keeping my fingers crossed for good results on your last test. If you have questions there is almost always someone here that has been there done that. Again, welcome.

  3. Aaron,

Glad to see your response. Keeping my fingers crossed that this week goes by with no fever and that next week you feel like having some fun. Praying that this trial is just the ticket for you.

  4. Pot's Active Ingredient Halts Lung Cancer Growth, Study Says

April 19, 2007 - Los Angeles, CA, USA

Los Angeles, CA: The administration of THC significantly reduces lung tumor size and lesions, according to preclinical data presented this week at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Los Angeles.

Investigators at Harvard University's Division of Experimental Medicine reported that THC inhibited the growth and spread of cells in vitro from two different lung cancer cell lines and from patient lung tumors. They also reported that THC administration reduced the growth of lung tumors in mice by more than 50 percent compared to untreated controls over a three-week period.

Researchers noted that THC appeared to block a specific cancer-causing protein in a manner similar to the pharmaceutical anti-cancer drugs Erbitux (Cetuximab) and Vectibix (Panitumumab).

Results of a large-scale, case-controlled population study published last year found that smoking cannabis, even long-term, is not positively associated with increased incidence of lung-cancer. Investigators in that study noted that one subset of moderate lifetime users had an inverse association between cannabis use and lung cancer, leading them to speculate that cannabinoids may possess certain protective properties against the development of lung cancer in humans.

Separate preclinical studies indicate that compounds in marijuana inhibit cancer cell growth in animals and in culture on a wide range of tumoral cell lines -- including human breast carcinoma cells, human prostate carcimona cells, and human colectoral carcinoma cells, among others. Most recently, investigators at Madrid's Complutense University, School of Biology, reported in the British Journal of Cancer that THC administration decreases recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (brain) tumor growth in patients diagnosed with the disease.

  5. I had an upper left lobectomy and slept in a recliner for 4 weeks. I walked some, did a few very light things around the house and rested. At 4 weeks we went to Los Vegas but I was NOT 100%. I am still not 100% but I think most of my breathing problems are from the radiation and chemo I had after surgery. Take your time...rest....rest....rest.

Becky had some good advice about the movies. It feels good to laugh even though it hurts..know what I mean? And use your spirometer that they gave you at the hospital. It really helps.

  6. Randy this makes me so sad. I have a "baby" named Prissy that is also sick but not at Daisy's point yet. My heart aches. Hug Daisy for me and give her a wet kiss from Prissy.

  7. Congratulations Ernie. I think its great that you are airborne again and that you plan to use your talent for the Angel flights.

  8. My little shihtzu is in early stage renal failure. The vet says she is not in pain. We tried to put her on a "kidney" friendly diet but she seemed allergic to every brand we found. She now eats anything she wants or I should say anything I will cook for her. She is 13 years old and has been with me through many of life's troubles..including my surgery and chemo etc. She sleeps with us and is always happy to see us, even though she will not give us "sugar" when we first get home. Its like she is showing us her displeasure at our leaving her for a few hours. I love her with all of my heart and am greatful for every day I have with her. That tail wagging and her little wet nose against my face is one of the special times for me each day.

The vet told us around Thanksgiving that her time was very limited and that it was not too early to think about putting her to sleep. I took her to our Episcopalian Priest and asked him to bless her and she has been better since. I know she is not cured but she is happy and still with us. I believe that prayer helps us accept our lot in life and make the most of each day we have. That is my prayer for all of us here. Greet each day the way my little dog does. Happy to be here and glad to see her loved ones. No grudges, no dislikes, no fear. Just glad to be alive.

This is way longer than I meant to write. I am sorry about Crystal and dread the day when either Prissy or I have to make the decision to end her life. I hope it is Prissy that decides for me, but if not, that I have the courage not to let her suffer any longer that she must when the time comes.

I seem to go on and on....sorry...

Much love to all of you,

    Nina
