wondermom Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 Has anyone taken Megace to increase their appetite while recieving chemotherapy? My mom has absolutely no appetite so at her last appointment I had asked about Megace as I heard it was used to stimulate appetite. Her onc. gave her a prescription for it. That was last Wednesday. As far as I know, she hasn't seen any results yet. I forgot to ask how long it would take to see an improvement. Can anyone tell me how long it took? Thanks! Connie B Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 I did, and it worked. Many of us LC Survivors have had to do that. It's a pretty common precedure these days. I was also on it because I had hotflashes and it stopped the hotflashes for me too. That was a happy day!! Good Luck and Keep Us posted. dadstimeon Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 I had it and it worked to beat the band. I was on it for fatigue not my appetite so had to stop it. Michele Bellinger Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 I was put on magace in Dec after my surgery, I noticed within a few days it increased my appetite. I put on over 10 pounds, My appetite is the first thing to go when I get sick, I have always been that way.
