  7. Thank-you both for your replies it's not really a problem with soreness when swallowing it's more like a spasm in my throat that won't allow me to swallow properly and a feeling that my glands are up in my neck it's only happened a few times, the Dr said it could a number of things great help lol, the cancer nurse said it could be a side affect of coming off the dexamethasone steroids, goodluck with your scan next week pam I hope everything is good news, Many thanks Justin
  8. Hi everyone I just wondered if anyone has experienced what I seem to be experiencing lately, every now and again I have a real difficulty swallowing it's only happened a few times,I also feel like my the glands are sore in my neck but more under my jaw area, the Dr said it could be a reaction to the keppra or possibly a side effect of stopping the dexamethasone steroids they told me to start taking omeprazol again for a week to see if it helps as it could be an acid reflux problem, I'm not sure what it is and just wondered if anyone had experienced the same thing I have got scarring on my lung due to the radiotherapy could the esophagus have scarring also as I had radiotherapy on the lymph nodes, many thanks for reading Take care Justin
  9. Lizzy I'm so sorry to hear your news I hope you can enjoy some great time with your family Justin x
  10. Hi Sorry your mum and you are going through this I know how hard it is as does everyone else who is dealing with cancer, I'm 51 and last August I was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy which seemed to work on shrinking the tumor and lymph nodes, at the end of February this year I had a seizure and the Dr's found I had 2 brain mets which I had treated with gamma knife radiosurgery I'm now waiting for an MRI scan on my brain at the end of june and hopefully some good news, The chemotherapy isn't as bad as we all think and the radiotherapy doesn't hurt, you should encourage your mum to fight this disease and once she starts fighting she will feel better about it all, its very stressful and depressing times but you will both get through this, all the best Take care Justin
  11. Lily, Honestly it won't be as bad as you think and it will be over before you know it goodluck and take care Justin x
  12. Hi lily I had cisplatin and vinorelbine for 2 months I was supposed to have 3 months of treatment but they were happy with the results after 2 months I also had radiotherapy alongside it, I didn't find it to bad to be honest, it was a bit tough when you first take it but it does get better over a couple of days, I didn't lose my hair but it did thin out a little, I hope you cope and respond to the treatment well, goodluck with everything and keep us updated all the best Take care Justin x

Hi everyone, Just an update I had a chest abdomen and pelvis ct scan done ten days ago, I rang the cancer nurse yesterday to see if I had an appointment to see the oncologist or if the results were back, I was told I would probably have appointment next Thursday or possibly the Thursday after, this does seem a bit long to wait for results as it's very worrying but I had a phone call today to tell me I have an appointment with the oncologist tomorrow just hoping for some good news I will let you know how it goes Many thanks Justin

Hi Kamoto I'm really sorry to hear about your news it is frightening but I'm glad you found this forum there will be a lot of help and support from the members, I was diagnosed last August with lung cancer in my right upper lobe and 2 lymph nodes involvement, I also went to the Dr's with a pain in the left hand side of my chest but that side was all clear, I have had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and hopefully the tumor and lymph nodes are still shrinking, unfortunately in February the cancer did spread to my brain and cause a seizure, I've now had gamma knife radiosurgery done and I'm starting to feel almost normal again I know the worry, stress and depression is terrible but once you get a treatment plan in place you will feel better about everything, try and stay as strong and positive as you can keep us updated on your progress, I wish you goodluck on Monday, all the best and take care Justin
