That's brilliant pam I know of a lot of people who have had that procedure and it's absolutely painless and it doesn't take long, I know it's frightening but it will do its job and you can get on with living your life as you should, all the best Take care Justin x

Hi pam I'm sorry I didn't realise you were going for gamma knife tomorrow, when I had it done in March I was given steroids to reduce the amount of swelling but I had 2 mets and one was a lot bigger, the smaller one has gone now so I don't think they'll have a problem getting rid of it and being small I wouldn't think you would need to be on steroids for long, my side effects never really went away since the seizure so I can't really make any comparison, Please don't worry about the procedure they will give you something to calm you and once you have the anesthetic for the frame to be fitted that's the hard part done, it shouldn't take very long to do,I did have a terrible headache when they fitted the frame and when they took it off but it didn't last long, I wish you all the best and goodluck tomorrow take care Justin x

Sallyanne Sorry I only just saw this post, i also had the same symptoms as you are experiencing after the radiotherapy but it did get better eventually they told me there was scarring and it might never go, I feel like I've lost some lung capacity with my breathing but they did tell me that would happen but it was a shock now it's happened, I really hope you feel better soon Take care Justin

Hi My mum has rheumatoid arthritis,copd and bronchiectasis and is on oxygen she tried methotrexate and it made her worse so she now takes leflunomide and it seems to work for her, I hope this helps and I really hope you feel better soon all the best Take care Justin

Hi I would definitely ask for a brain scan, I had one done when I was diagnosed and it was clear but unfortunately it was 2 months before I started chemotherapy and radiotherapy and they didn't scan me again by February I had a seizure caused by 2 brain mets so it is really important to get this done, goodluck with everything Take care Justin

Hi ljh I'm sorry you are going through this I know that the waiting is difficult but you will find the strength to come through this I went through exactly the same feelings as you are last August and the waiting for treatment was terrible but it does get easier, take care Justin

Hi lily Thanks for your message, I hope your doing well,I had to tell the cancer nurse I think I'm allergic to the contrast because everytime I have the contrast this happens,I'm seeing the oncologist on the 27th October so will bring everything up with him,the scarring and inflammation is from the gamma knife radiosurgery I had done for the 2 brain mets they found in march so I don't have another MRI scan scheduled until December as they said they wouldn't be able to see anything due to the swelling and inflammation,the ct scan I had last week was chest and body with contrast which seems to trigger the seizure activity the same way,I will tell the oncologist I'm not happy about having the contrast if its going to keep doing this, how are you feeling now All the best Take care Justin x

Hi Sorry to hear about what's happening to you, I had cisplatin and vinorelbine combo I didn't see much difference in my follow up scans so please don't despair, I hope you get some good news soon Goodluck and take care Justin x

Hi everyone Just to let you all know I've had no seizure activity since last Wednesday so what ever is happening only seems to happen for three days after having scans with contrast,the cancer nurse is now agreeing this could be an allergic reaction as its before with the previous two scans,they also said that there would be no point doing an MRI scan until December because there will be to much scarring and inflammation so I don't think I have any chance of changing there minds about that, I hope everyone is well Take care Justin

Hi I agree with lily just let her eat anything she enjoys I also had a complan drink everyday and it did help, I did lose some taste for things but it did come back and the chemotherapy will get easier I promise, its something unfortunately we have to suffer but it will be worth it Wish her well and take care Justin

Hi everyone Hope everyone is doing well, just wanted to let you all know I haven't had any further problems with seizure activity since going back on the dexamethasone even though it's the reduced amount so thats good news,I have a body CT SCAN on Monday and an appointment on 27th October for results of the test but they told me there is a problem with radiologists at the moment so expect a couple weeks delay so unfortunately going to be a long wait lol, All the best Justin

Hi lahalsa I'm really sorry you have to be here, as the others have said it's not the automatic death sentence it once was and we have all felt like you are in the beginning, please stay as strong and positive as you can it will help, I was worried about the chemotherapy and radiotherapy but it wasn't as bad as I had made it in my mind I was also worried about losing my hair but it just thinned out, you will get through this and everyone on this site is with you and praying for you Take care Justin x

Hi Karen I know it's worrying but my entire household caught covid the day i had gamma knife done we think, I had an antivirus infusion done the following day and I didnt feel to bad try not to worry about this on top of everything else you have going on Take care Justin x
