Kelvin, My right upper lobe nodule was SUV of 8.7 and right hilar adenopathy was SUV of 13.4. Pam
  3. Hi Diane, I am fairly new to this forum having been diagnosed with LS SCLC in Nov 2021. I have read your previous posts and so sorry for the loss of your husband. The cottages are looking nice and what a beautiful spot. Pam
  4. Hi Justin, I also had difficulty swallowing after my 30 radiation treatments. My radiation oncologist prescribed BMX ( benadryl/Mallox/xylocaine) or as some people call it magic mouthwash only I was told to swish it in my mouth and gargle then swallow it as it was only a tablespoon. This numbed my throat so it was easier to eat or swallow for about 30 minutes. I also had the acid reflux so took famotidine 20 mg twice a day. Both helped immensely. I finished radiation in beginning of Feb and stopped the bmx the end of March. I still take the famotidine as I still get the acid reflux. I have CT scan next week so will see where I am at. Hope your symptoms resolve soon. Pam
  5. Hi Kelvin, I drank a lot of smoothies (blueberry/banana/almond milk - yum!) , fruits like watermelon, apples, cantaloupe and grapes, and vegetables like steamed broccoli, spinach, carrots and celery. I also ate multi grain bread and drank green tea. This helped my immune system and kept me strong for treatments. I also ate six small meals a day. This also kept me from getting constipated or diarrhea and helped fight nausea. Hope her treatments go well Pam
  6. Hi Jack, My son wants me to try the Rick Simpson oil regimen. It sounds a little dangerous to make to me, plus you need a lot of marijuana. I would like to know how you make out if you do start it. Please keep us posted. Pam
  7. Glad it went well Phil…now hoping and praying for a good MRI report for you
  8. Phil, I agree with everything Karen said about receiving chemo. My experience was basically the same. As far as the MRI, I was really nervous but it wasn’t that bad. The noises can be a little unsettling but I just closed my eyes. Hopefully you are not claustrophobic and the entire procedure was over with in about 20 minutes for me. Best of luck and keep us posted.
  9. Hoping that your biopsy goes well and that it is just an infection. Keep us posted.
  10. I’m sorry to hear about the return of your Dad’s cancer. Did he do chemo when diagnosed last March or just the lobectomy? I was diagnosed in Nov 2021 with LS SCLC. I had 4 rounds of chemo ( 3 days straight with 21 days in between) and 30 radiation treatments. I lost my hair with the chemo but that was my only side effect. Halfway thru the radiation I had some trouble swallowing and was prescribed BMX ( Benadryl, Maalox, xylocaine) solution which numbed the throat for a short time. I also used cough drops. I agree with Tom on marrying now and a reception later. Stay strong and know we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated.
  11. Hoping and praying that you will good news from your scan.
  12. Kelvin, I had 4 rounds of chemo with carboplatin and etoposide and 30 radiation treatments. My hair started to come out in clumps so I had my head shaved. It is starting to come back now, different color but coming back. I guess it will depend on the chemo drugs she receives. Hoping for the best for your Mom.
  13. K. Hillham Congrats on your one year anniversary! kelvin, Hoping that your Mom’s treatment goes well. Will be praying that it does.
  14. Hi Val, Keep up the positivity! I too was diagnosed with SCLC. I had chemo and radiation which shrunk my nodule and lymph node tumors. I am currently in a clinical study to see if MRI of the brain alone is as good as PCI of the brain to watch for metastasis. There are many clinical trials and I hope one will be available for you. Keep living life to the fullest! Praying for you.
  15. Hi Justin, Your journey with cancer has sure been a rough one but I’m glad to hear that things are getting better for you. Keep the faith. I will be praying for you.
  16. So very sorry to hear of her passing. I am so new here that I didn’t know her, but she sounded like a wonderful and compassionate woman. Very nice tribute Tom.
