    New one!

Thanks for all of the advise and help! I am feeling better after getting off that ride. The camping was fun too! Thank you so very much again for everything! Love you all! Darrell
  2. Hi Marco Jo! Sounds like your sis is doing great! I too have SCLC and have placed it in remission after 6 months. You let her know that she can do it! She may want to look into a great diet. I'm avoiding all sugars and red meat. I'm taking protene supplements to help build my muscle mass back so that's an option if she enjoys a healthly lifestyle which I think she does. Since she's not working, encourage her to take a look at the thread at the top of the SCLC forum from one of the members who wrote a note on how he beat SCLC. It's very informative and inspirational. She needs to make sure she's exercising to keep away the blood clots. There are alot of people here to help you and your sis. Whatever you need, just drop a note. Much love, Darrell

I guess I'm going to have to take a trip to Cedar Point because the roller coasters are about the same as my cancer docs can make one! Second opinion is completely different. Doc says is not cancerous but we'll have a look at it in a month to be completely positive! I'm back to NED! Thank you for all of your positive thoughts!!!! love you! Darrell

fightfordan, I know exactly how he feels sweetie. I had it on my hip and back. No matter what i did I couldn't get comfortable. The more pain, the more pain meds. I firmly believe that the pain meds actually made things worse. I told them to reduce everything. I felt so much better and stronger! Not saying that the case with your FIL. You need to get your post out in the open forum so more people can respond. There are alot of people out there who will be more than happy to help you (including me!). Keep your chin up. Get those boxing gloves out. He can beat this. It's doable. Love, Darrell

If there was ever the most beautiful cyber flower garden to come to, this is truely it. I have an appt set for Monday for a 2nd opinion. I'm not going to let this stop or even slow me down. I'm heading to the mountains to go camping with my old dog Jessy. Love you all! Darrell
  6. Hello Jay! Sorry to hear about your mother. I'm glad that she has someone as devoted as you are looking after her. I spent a week at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion Illinois. It's the same regiment you could expect in OK City. They offer not only the traditional radiation/chemo, but a more advanced radiation called tomotherapy. Additionally, they introduce you to homopathic medicine, religious intervention and physical therapy. All of this, combined with a diet designed for your mom will make her feel tons better when she leaves there. I did! And I met alot of new friends who are going through the same there. There are also group sessions for caregivers. As far as the t7 tumor goes, I had one of those puppies. Radiation took care of it. Quick and simple. Tell her to keep fighting and don't give up! It's all about attitude and how badly she wants it!! We're all here to help. Darrell

    New one!

Wow! I've been riding along this NED wagon for a few weeks now and I could have landed on the moon if you asked me. I've been flying that high! Unfortunately, my ONC let me know today that the cancer has spread to my pelvis bone. He told me that I had all the radiation to that area I could have. The chemo that I just finished isn't going to work either. Has anyone had this happen to them? My god, I can't believe that I don't have an answer to this. I'm calling Chicago tomorrow and asking them. But can someone please tell me if they had or know of someone who's had this effect their pelvis? Please help me. Love you all. Darrell

    sclc question

Because lung cancer is a cancer that's self inflicted. It's not politically correct for them to divert research funding to the #1 killer because we bring this upon ourselves. People are discovering however, that you don't have to be a smoker to get LC. Additionally, most folks don't survive LC long enough to give congress a good fight or vote! There are organizations on the 'Hill' that lobby for us everyday. I encourage everyone to find them and help support them through donations or whatever means possible. Darrell
  14. Hi Kim, As Denise and all the others have said, this is the place to come for advice and comfort. We all understand how you feel. The new diagnosis is so incredibly hard to soak in. I don't remember anything the doctor told me after the word cancer. My mind was racing too much. Thank heaven that I had my family there to help me through it. Yes, she is going to lose her hair with VP16 and Cisplatin. I had the same chemo treatment. She'll also have to take a TON of meds and she'll lose her appetite. Having both radiation and chemo at the same time will wear her down. She'll need to drink LOTS of water each day regardless if she wants to or not. It will be a struggle for her to get anything down because she won't want to. Keep us posted on how she's doing. We're all here to help you! Darrell
  15. Hi Deb! I hope that you find everything you are looking for. There are some awesome people here to help. We're all thinking about you and hoping for the best! Darrell
  16. Hi Susan! I'm hoping that you get some good news from your dad's treatment. Don't think this is a death sentence! It's not! Help him keep his attitude positive. You're a wonderful caregiver. Darrell
  17. Tiffsmom, I'm so sorry to hear about Tiff's struggles at such an incredible age! He age is her most valuable asset when it comes to this battle. Sounds like you need the right kind of chemo to make it all happen. Have you had her looked at by another doc? Please keep us posted! We're all here if you need us. She's in our thoughts and prayers! Darrell

AWESOME! I love a great success story!!! You're awesome Rochelle! You're mom is a very lucky lady to have you as a wonderful, loving daughter. Pat yourself on the back!! NED is the best ever!!! Darrell
  21. Do you get frustrated at the person who drives slow while you are in a hurry? Since I've been NED, I'm that person who drives slow. I'm soaking in everything. A friend of mine told me last week that I'm like a kid seeing things for the first time. I'm new to NED so I have no worries or fears. I wonder how long this will last? I hope it lasts a lifetime. I never want to lose this feeling. I've never been happier in my life. Darrell
  22. Hi Gina! Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us, but we're glad that you did. As you already know, this is the place for encouragement.
