Mitchell, Great news that the chest x-ray came back good. Also great to see your mom trying to work, I find it good for the soul. I've been back to work as many days as I can get there. My problem is exercise..I'm not walking and I need to, I commend your mom for sticking to that. Lilly

I have had one cycle of cisplatin and was very ill. But the flu bug (norovirus) was going through my house at the same time so the doctors said most of my issues were related to the stomach bug. I will go through the next cycle in a week and a half. Lilly

Kasey, I've been too sick too read everything going on with everyone and just noticed this post that you have not been well. I'm sooo sorry... I'm praying for you that you will be better soon and can get on with your scans and good results. Lilly

Thank you for all the thoughts and wishes, I wanted to let folks know that I ended up getting more liquids via IV on Thursday especially Potassium as I was awfully low. Almost passed out walking into the clinic. They gave me more nausea meds and have kept me from vomiting since but they were all sure I had the flu. (I'm skeptical although my son is sick). Anyhow, my chemo was postponed, I'm to call Monday to see when my next weekly will start, probably based on how I feel, which is better today. I'm also noticing some really increased signs of neuropathy of the hands and toes from the first chemo. Lilly

Heather, I started to eat somewhat normally about four weeks after radiation but once chemo started again, my esophagus seemed to act up again. I so would love to have a cheeseburger too.. Lilly

I started chemo last thursday 12/28th (cisplatin and Gemzar). managed to get through Saturday okay but not feeling well by New Years Eve. Stayed in bed and managed to watch the ball drop with one eye with all the kids on my bed. Was supposed to go back to work on Tuesday and could not, lost ability to hydrate. My mouth is full of mucotitis, I'm trying to force water down now. Went to clinic for hydration yesterday and now trying to work from home today. Next chemo in two days and I just don't know how to stay strong through this. This morning I started vomiting so I'm hoping they can find another med to help. I'm just so tired, I want to crawl in bed and stay there. My kids don't want to be near me now as they see me as too sick. I know it will get worse before it gets better and I have to do this to stay alive, as you all know, it's hard some days. hope everyone else is doing well into this new year. Tanner, I'm sorry to hear your wife has to go through this with little ones at home. I'm in the middle of aggressive chemo now and I have three kids, (It is hardest to give the baby attention now). The fight is worth it, to stay well for them. Your family is in my prayers Lilly

Dina, I would check into a new doctor ASAP. Also, to get my original scan results from the pulmonologist during initial diagnosis, I had to call him several times. Don't wait for them to call you...you hound them. Lilly

barbara, We have to have hope and be positive as hard as that is on some days. I'm scared everyday but I still have hope. Hopefully, it will turn out to be nothing and you won't have to worry further. Lilly

Aaron, I think alot of mistakes are made by radiologists reading x-rays, ct scans and even Pet scans. the mistake I have made is not asked for my own reports and copies. I need to do that better. Lilly

Thank you all, I made it through chemo yesterday..It was tougher than before, I felt beat last night and also again today..I'm trying to do some work from home but very lightly. I took the kids to my mom's so I can rest. Thought I would tell everyone it is my 41st Birthday today. Never thought I would be excited about a birthday but I am. Birthdays have a whole new meaning to me. Lilly

Hi all, I updated my profile, chemo actually starts this thursday. Because of the Cisplatin, I need a hearing test and they could not get one scheduled before the holiday so my hearing test is tomorrow morning and Chemo on thursday. My husband now needs surgery to fix his shoulder from the ATV accident so he will be laid up for 6 weeks(he is in alot of pain and I have not been very sympathetic). I have to say he is really lucky his injury is not worse. What a pair the two of us make? Tonight both his mom and my mom came over (his mom to take care of cooking and my 1 year old while my mom took down the x-mas tree that was completely dried out). Lilly

Valerie, Thank you for posting....... as someone that is only 6 months from diagnosis and first an operable IIIA and the Dr.'s telling me 20-40 years and then going to stage IV with brain mets and the Dr.'s telling me that getting me to five years is going to be very important.......your post means the world to me. Well the kids and I made it through Christmas, they had fun but it wasn't the Christmas we tried for because my husband decided to go ATV riding with his friends on Christmas Eve morning and had an accident, the ATV fell on top of him and he dislocated his shoulder, tore tendons, etc. Suffice it to say after the Emergency Room, he stayed home for Christmas and the kids and I were on our own to go to the dinners and MASS and to exchange gifts. My 13 year old and I decided on the way home last night that I absolutely have to be here again next Christmas and we made a pact that I have to be totally strong to fight this beast into submission so we can do the Christmas thing all over again. Here is hoping everyone got everything they wanted for the holidays!!! Lilly
