  5. Hello and welcome Coltrane914, I am so terribly sorry for all that you are going through. My Dad is also stage 4 and is fighting. I know how very dificult this time is for you, but please, please, pleeeease... read the stories of long term stage 4 survivors on this board. There are many amazing people here to help you along the way with advice and inspiration. Avoid looking at statistics on the net. They are old and out date, not to mention... based on large numbers. Your Dad and my Dad are most certainly NOT numbers! Wishing the very best to you and your family, Stay strong, -Rod P.S: Is your user name Coltrane as in John Coltrane ?
  6. Hi Mike, and welcome, So sorry about the stress you are going through. I will hope that your Moms results are Non cancerous, but, if they are... Please understand that it's not even close to a death sentence. As you can see on this board there is a wealth of information, advice and much better than that - Long Term Survivors to help you with questions and much inspiration. Try and relax until you know what you are, or aren't dealing with. Very best regards, -Rod

Hi Jill, welcome, I'm so very sorry for your loss, it must be very difficult for all involved especially Joes son. My heart goes out to you and your family. It's so tragic to lose such a young person to this horrible desease! Please try and let go of any guilt. Nobody knows how to handle these situations. We do the best we can and trust in those who have expertise. Each person affected by this disease is different... there is no hand guide for dealing with these situations perfectly. My guess is you did all that you could by loving and caring for Joe. Sometimes the blessing is not in the cure, but in the teaching and touching of a life lived and shared. Joe was young, but he accomplished love and the creation of a wonderful life to carry on his legacy. Thats a wonderful thing! I pray that you find peace and that time starts to heal you and give you strength. My very best wishes and thoughts to you and your family, -Rod
  9. Hi Bill and welcome, Glad to see you have already received a heep of good advice from these amazing folks. My best thoughts to you and yours, -Rod
  10. Hi Steven, I'm just shocked by this ! I don't know what to say or think. I feel rage at this Doctor.... It's hard to imagine a professional person being so irresponsible! I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I commend you for sharing your story so that others may learn to be more proactive, however... How can one be more proactive when you are doing everything your Doctor tells you with the exception telling you of the cancer ?!!? I'm just deeply shocked and sorry. I'm glad you are in "check" You are young and appear to be of strong mind and body, this will serve you well through your treatment and recovery. It's my wish that this "Doctor" if you can call him one, is held accountable for compromising your health. My very best thoughts and wishes to you and your family, -Rod
  11. Hi Joe, Wonderful to be inspired by you ! May your side effects subside, and may you enjoy MANY more Thanksgivings in good health and good spirits. Best regards, -Rod
  12. Hi Donna, So sorry the your Dad and your family have to go through this again. I don't have much in the way of advice, but I do know that anxiety can certainly contribute to shortness of breath. It sounds like your Dad is in good hands. That mixed with getting through this successfully before gives me a good feeling that you can all get through this successfully again. 72 isn't that old and it sounds like he is a pretty determined and active guy. Your Dad is the same age as my Dad who is batteling L.C. He isn't taking it laying down either, in fact - he's mad as hell and determined to fight this b*stard and win ! I wish the very best for your family. This must be such a knock to have to get up and fight again, but you will ! I will hope and pray the the second time is just as successful as the first. Hoping your Dad feels much better soon, -Rod
  13. Hi Tina, Thank you for all that you do ! Best wishes, -Rod
