  2. Since Doc is going to be out of town next week he gave me a week off from Chemo (big of him wasn't it???). Instead he wants me to get a CT Scan to see how things are doing. I will get the results on the 3rd just before I leave for MN. I know my lymphs have stayed about the same cause I can feel them but I am thinking my liver has gotten a bit worse because I am getting a bloated feeling more so now than in the past. He said we would look at another form of chemo if things weren't better sooooooooooo I guess we wait till the 3rd and see what he has to say.

Any spare prayers are appreciated as always!

Love you guys and God Bless,

    MO

  3. MO is still here, lol. I have had fluid drained several times and yes, it does feel better right away. They can do a talc procedure if it becomes a big problem ( I get drained every month and a half or so). Ask the Dr. about it when you see him.

    God Bless and best wishes,

    MO

  4. La. jury orders tobacco firms to pay $500M

Cigarette makers ordered to help fund stop-smoking programs

    The Associated Press

Updated: 3:01 p.m. ET May 21, 2004NEW ORLEANS - A jury Friday ordered the tobacco industry to pay $590 million for nicotine patches, telephone hot lines, advertising and other programs to help Louisiana smokers kick the habit.

Legal experts believe the class-action lawsuit is the first case in which a jury has found that tobacco companies should pay for such programs.

Lawyers for the smokers had wanted $1 billion — an amount tobacco lawyers deemed excessive. They said two to three years of programs, at up to $9 million a year, would give the state’s smokers time to get counseling and try various aids to quit smoking.

The lawsuit had wanted the smoking cessation programs to last up to 25 years, but jurors set them at 10 years.

The verdict came in the second phase of a lengthy trial.

In July, the same jury found that cigarette makers had deceived the public with an addictive product and schemed to market cigarettes to children. It rejected calls for medical monitoring for present and former smokers, but said the industry should provide free smoking cessation programs.

The current phase was to determine how much the industry should spend on the programs and what those programs should be. A third phase, without the jury, will be used to determine how the programs are run.

The jury heard about two months of testimony and deliberated for three days before returning the verdict.

The $590 million will also go toward supplies of nicotine gum and grants for anti-smoking programs in church groups and other organizations.

None of the smokers in the lawsuit can get individual damages. The plaintiffs include any Louisiana resident who smoked before the mid-1990s, when the suit was filed.

The defendants are R.J. Reynolds, Lorillard, Philip Morris USA and Brown & Williamson.

    Poor Babies  NOT!!!!

  5. Donna, Do you mean Big Sandy by McGregor? Are you staying at the Corps Rec. Area or do you stay someplace else? I will be close to that area on the 6th during the afternoon as I am going up 169 on my way to Duluth (starting in Buffalo). If nothing else, maybe we can all get together the evening of the 7th if everyone is back from week end plans? Let me know.

    Snowflake,

You and Ry are more than welcome to come stay at my place for the festival. I have already placed my order so they will be waiting for me when I get back! They are so much fun to watch in the microwave!!

Also, I have a 1/2 case of TP in the closet so you don't even have to bring your own!!

    God Bless,

    MO

  6. Watch out Minnesota folks, MO is on the way!!! Well , I WILL be on the way on the 3rd of June! I am coming up for a few days to visit some friends and do a few things that I have been wanting to do. I will arrive either Thursday night late or Friday morning early and would love to get together with those members who are able to! Friday night I am planning to get some friends together in Chaska for a mini - party that all would be welcome to also. Details can be PM'd if you think you might be able to make it. Saturday I am headed to my home town to take care of my Grandma and Grandpas graves and then I want to go to church in my old church Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon will find me in St. Cloud on my way to the North shore and then Monday I am back in the TwinCities and departing on Tuesday. All in all I will cover about 1000 miles of Minnesota but it will be so worth it! I have a girlfriend who will be traveling with me (she is blind so no help driving but she can call 911 if needed, lol) so I am sure we will have a good time. Saturday we are camping under the stars (I get back seat she gets front seat if it rains, lol) but the rest of the time we are staying with friends or family. This will be our adventure of the summer! I had hoped to drive up but a group of friends here has decided I can't drive that far by myself (oh yeahhh????) so they bought me a round trip ticket complete with a car rental while I was up there. They are so sweet!!!

Anyway, a heads up ( I forged a hall pass  ) that I will be off line from June 3 to June 9 or 10.

I will miss you all and you WILL be in my prayers!

Hope to get a chance to meet some of the Minnesota folks!!!!! Lets me know guys!!

    Love ya,

    MO

  7. I will be handing out information this week end at a Relay for Life Survivors "Pre" event. This is where we get a lunch (hot dogs??) and our tee shirts to wear in the survivors walk. Good chance to network with out having to do the actual walk, lol. Our walk is in Aug.

Wish I could have made the Dallas event though!! Hand out what you can and lets get our name out there!

    God Bless your efforts!

  8. Have a wonderful day and best wishes to your son on his graduation! Milestones are important to all of us wheather it be making it till Monday or graduating from high school! I am glad things are working well for you!

    God Bless,

    MO

  9. Sounds like your Dad has pretty common side effects. I have them also but have been lucky the numbness has been minimal. I have a hard time walking any distance and have found all kinds of shorcuts through the hotel, lol. I even use the lil motorized grocery carts now if it gets to bad. Used one to go to the St Louis Zoo with my grandson and it was wonderful!

Prayers of healing being sent your way!

    God Bless,

    MO

  10. Welcome to the family. I am sorry you have to be here but glad you found us. Chances are good someone here has gone through the same things you are so can answer any questions. The rest of us offer prayers and good wishes and they count too!

Don't belives the statistics, they are WRONG! Have your Dr. get you something to help with the nausea (Ativan helped me and it helps you sleep). Depending on the type of cancer they may do a chemo / radiation combo or they may do surgery. In any case you have us all in your corner.

God Bless and please keep in touch,

    MO

  11. This has nothing to do with cancer but I have to share, lol.

We have a new Oriental Buffet restaurant that opened about a month ago an it HAS to be one of the best restaurants I have been to in YEARS! It is $8.95 for all you can eat with about 20 entrees, rices, desserts, etc, but the big attraction is it includes peel and eat shrimp, 3 other types of shrimp AND CRAB LEGS!!!! My kids and I went there again tonight with my ex-in laws and I am SO FULL I am gonna splode all over the place, lol. It is amazing to find a place that good and that cheap anymore! Anyone who wants to come visit I will be happy to take you to dinner!!! We have been there 3 times in the month they have been open and I have eaten more crab in the past month than in the past 10 years! My grandson has decided HE likes crab also but he has a hard time "Crapping" the crab to get it out of the shell, lol. We are working on "Cracking" the crab but so far that isn't working either, lol.

Anyway, open dinner invite to anyone who comes to MO!!!

    God Bless,

    MO
