  1. I feel like I know a lot of the people who come here. We share so much that we don't share with IRL (In Real Life) friends it just makes it easier to talk to them. I know I am addicted to the board as I have gotten caught a couple of times at work typing messages and when I travel I always end up spending $10 to get online from some hotel room to check the board, lol.

I find myself thinking that Snow is going to get a kick out of this or Donna is going to think I am nuts or whatever, lol.

You are certainly NOT alone in your feelings!!

  2. Not only can reading your own scans drive you nuts but a "new" tech can also drive you nuts. I had one look at an x-ray and come out to ask me if I was missing a lung! I actually had a major pleural effusion where the entire lung was "hidden" but it set be back a few minutes when she asked the question!

Let the "Big Boys" do the reading cause thats what we are paying the "BIG BUCKS" for!!

  3. Shar,

Only you can decide what is best or you. Yes it hurts like hades when your esophogus is involved but it goes away! I haven't noticed any SOB since radiation since they radiated a limited field. I would check in to it again as it really does seem to offer the best chance of stability or remission. Best wishes headed your way!

  4. Shar,

In my case I wasn't so worried about pallitive care, I just wanted the tumor GONE. I think there are actually very few cases where the tumor returns in the same spot once it has been treated with chemo and radiation. In most cases there is an amount of scar tissue left aftet treatment (may diminish with time). What is it that you have heard that is keeping you from getting the treatment? Everyone I talked with before and after radiation has had some side effects but they we basically "minor" when compared with the destruction of the tumor. Esophogus pain is the BIG side effect but it goes away.

Prayers for strength and healing being sent your way!

  5. Congratulations Ray on a job well done!

Our Relay for Life is in August and I just spoke with the coordinator yesterday about setting up a booth. She was all for it so I hope to be able to contribute that way. She also invited me to an event on the 22nd of this month for survivors which I hope to be able to attend.

  6. I am marked as a donor on my license also. They said I can't donate "major" parts but my eyes and some tissues can be used.

Heck, once I am done with them I would hope someone else could get some use out of them.

  7. I like the part about being able to eat what I want , when I want! I still have the dang pantyhose and heels and wear make up to work but not as much as I used to. I make more time for family things than I used to. If it comes to doing dishes or playing Spiderman with Kayden you will find this grandma on the floor with Spiderman (course someone has to help me UP off the floor but hey)!!!

(((((Shelli))))) Just like a parent, sometimes God answers No to the prayers we send him. It is ok to get mad at him (he's Dad after all) because no matter what he will always love US. The only thing I can offer is to talk to God. Tell him what you are feeling and how much it hurts and then LISTEN to what he has to tell you. He may have something special in mind for you.

You are in my prayers sweetie!

  8. I "smell" my grandmother sometimes also. Her house had a very distinctive smell when she did laundry and the other day I was walking through a part of the hotel I don't usually visit when THAT smell hit me so hard I almost had to sit down. I found out later that the laundry area vented close to where I was so it was a laundry smell but it was just like being at Grandma's on laundry day.

I also have "smelled" my other grandma once or twice (her combination of perfume and powder). I don't seem to have dreams of my parents but I do know they are always with me and I still talk to them when I need to. I am sure that your Dad is in a better place Berisa and he is smiling on you and the love you have for him.

  9. I had major problems with swallowing (lost 70#) but they went away a couple of weeks after treatment was done. Carafate and the Majic Mouthwash helped some but I mainly ate room temp soups, mashed taters, jello, soft foods. I made sure to drink at LEAST 2 liters of WATER a day (usually 3 or more) to avoid the dehydration.

Prayers of healing sent your way.

  10. Welcome to THIS family! I am sorry you have the need to be here but glad you found us. First off, throw the statistics OUT the window cause they don't mean cra*. As long as your step Dad is breathing there is HOPE! New drugs come out, new treatments, clinical trials, there are many different options out there. If you want to go see him.....GO. I have found that this is the time to do the things you may have put off in the past. Live each day like it is the last and LOVE those around you like you will never see them again! No one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

Prayers for strength and healing being sent your way!

  11. Good Morning All! I feel 100% better this morning! I think it was just a quick case of who knows what! Left work about 2 yesterday, went home and slept for a couple of hours, went to a church council meeting last night and came home and went back to bed, lol. Slept like a rock all night (with the help of a sleep aid) and woke up this morning feeling wonderful!

Thank you all for the prayers and good wishes (thats what made me feel better I am sure!!).

    God Bless,

    MO
