  2. Elaine, I have told them about the fever and they feel it is a bug that is going around here also. Taking a couple of different meds and ready for a nap NOW!!!!, lol. I am just happy that it is an illness rather than the alternative cause I ain't READY for that yet!!

I actually get more "rest" at work since I sit at a desk and work on the internet and telephone all day, lol, so as long as I can stay awake I am probably better off here.

    Thanks guys for the support!

    God Bless,

  3. Ok, how silly does THAT statement sound????? I woke up this morning feeling like I was on my last legs. Had to take a break brushing my teeth, getting dressed took 20 minutes, had to rest after walking to my car. EVERYTHING hurt, hips, shoulders, eyes, hair (what little there is of it). First thing I did was take my temp and it was 98.8, now I am scared. My short term "goal" is to make it to my birthday (5/24/04) and I had the distinct feeling I wasn't going to make it. I went to hospital to get my morning neupogen shot and when they asked how I was feeling I was honest and said like cra*. The nurse looked at me cause I am always feeling good and always joke with them. She gave me my shot and it took 5 minutes to do a 2 minute walk back to my car. After "resting" in the car I was able to continue on to work (yeah I know I should have gone home but I had a travel writer to meet this morning so I came in).

Met my travel writer and his wife and took them to breakfast (yummy). Spent an hour with them going over a portion of the property (in a golf cart!!) and actually had a nice time as the weather is PERFECT!! After the visit I came back to my office with the intentention of getting in my car and heading home. WRONG!!!!! I had a voice mail that my daughter had come and taken my car as hers had to go in the shop for a repair and she hoped I didn't mind! I am giving away a 24 year old to the FIRST taker!!!! I called her and she said it would be about 2pm before her car was ready. I hate to have her drive all the way over here to pick me up (almost 30 miles round trip) when we have to come get her car just 2 miles down the road. I told her I would stick it out in my office but to ask if they couldn't hurry, lol. In the mean time, I took my temp again and it is 100.2!!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhhh I am actually SICK!!!!!!!! (In more ways than one I think, lol).

Anyway, I have taken some meds and I am taking it easy and as soon as my daughter comes back I am going home to go to BED!!!!!

Hope you are all haveing a blessed day!!!

    God Bless,

    MO

  4. Peg,

There are no words that can take away the pain. Please know that we are praying for you and only time will lessen the terrible pain you feel right now. Please vent, cry or what ever it takes to help you deal with the day.

You and your family are in my prayers.

    God Bless,

    MO

  5. Addie,

Welcome to the family. I am sorry you have to be here but I am sure we can help you deal with this beast! My suggestion would be to consult with another oncologist at the EARLIEST possible date. SCLC can double in size in a months time and you sure don't need that! I don't know what part of the country you are in or how close you are to a cancer center but I would try and get someplace asap and get treatment started.

Prayers for healing and strength being sent your way.

    God Bless,

    MO

  6. Welcome Kelly. I have not heard of anything that can test for the possibility of getting cancer, sorry. In most cases it is found by accident when looking for somethig else. As Katie said, there are few symptoms.

  7. I had chemo and radiation at the same time so I don't know if my info is what you are looking for. I also have sclc and the combination killed the original tumor (I have since gotten mets to the liver but the original tumor is DEAD). Side effects from my radiation were fatigue, problems with my esophogus (went away after treatment was done). I continued to work all the way through treatment (am still working) so it wasn't toooo bad, lol.

You have to decide what you think is best for YOU. For me, the decision was to be as aggressive as possible the first time around. The combination did put me in to remission (stability) for several months while I did PCI also.

Prayers for strength and healing being sent your way.

  8. Rick,

I also have been "tapped" a couple of times and I guess I have been lucky since they have not hit a nerve! The pain I feel is gone 15 - 20 minutes after the procedure is completed. Both times they have taken almost 2 liters of fluid and now have said the next time they want to do a talc procedure to close off the "sack" so I don't have to do this again.

I would be happy to give any other info to the newbie that I could. They can feel free to PM me if they like.

    God Bless,

    MO

  9. This was reported on Sunday. They don't say what type of lc he had.

King, who also was host of the New York Friars Club's celebrity roasts, died at a Manhattan hospital, said a son, Robert King. He died of lung cancer, his assistant Miriam Rothstein said.

    God Bless his family.

  10. I am on Carbo / Taxol and have had 3 rounds now. I have started to notice some pain in my shoulders and they have told me to take percocet for the pain. The main side effect I an having is weakness. Doing anything other than sitting makes me feel like I have run a marathon! Doctor says it is because I have had "a lot" of chemo. I am adjusting to it and hope it goes away!

I will add your Dad and your family to my prayers.

    God Bless,

  11. Welcome and I also am sorry you had to find us but glad you did.

There are a lot of treatments available to your Mom. You need to get a medical team in place that will aggressively treat this beast! As long as your Mom is breathing there is hope so do NOT pay attention to statistics cause they are WRONG!! Your Mom is your MOM not a statistic! Ask questions, be sure she has given permission for you to get information so you can stay on top of what they are doing.

Your family is in my prayers.

    God Bless,

    MO

  12. I had PCI but was first dx'd with limited stage. However, almost as soon as I was done with PCI, I ended up with Mets to the liver and lymph nodes. Would I do it again? If I thought it would give me more time to be with my family I certainly would. Side effects were mainly fatigue and short term memory loss, both have gone away since PCI was completed. Each person has to decide for themselves what they want to do.

Prayers of strength and healing being sent your way!

    God Bless, MO
