    Cat scan results

Hi everyone, Got the results back from my cat scan I had friday, there doesn't appear to be any cancer growth, the midddle lobe of my right lung(which is now my upper lobe as they removed my upper lobe, hmmm confusing) is collapsed and causing me problems, had a rigid bronchscopy yesterday and I guess the surgeon sucked up some of the gunk that was inmy lung, he told mt wife I need to have a flexible bronch to clean the rest out. It is great to be posting in the good news thread!! Not feeling so great right now, take care everyone and thanks for your words of comfort and prayers and such.

  15. Hi Again Dawn , I have severe shortness of breath, much worse then before, still fight fatique somewhat, and pain often in my chest area.Best of luck
  16. HI Dawn, Yes I think the surgery is a serious surgery as they have to go in to your chest cavity. I was stage 3a, I had chemo 1st, then surgery 6 weeks later, the about 6-8 weeks after that I had 30 rounds of radiation, this has all taken place in the last 11 months of my life, I'd be lying to you if I told you it was easy. I'm having complications from the surgery and radiation and numb toes from chemo, but it is much better then the alternative. There is a lot of hope and seat of the pants advise here hope you find some peace here.

  18. Welcome Sarah, I also had sqamous cell lc 3 a/b and was told I wouldn't be a candidate for surgery, after two chemo treatments had another mediastinascopy and the surgeon decided to operate so there is hope for surgery for your mother. I was treated at the U of M hospital in Ann Arbor. It sure hasn't been a cake walk the last 11 1/2 months, but it is better the the alternative. I hope you find this meassage board as helpful and hopeful as I and many others have, there are many mant great people here. Praying for your mother and family.
  19. HI Veronica, I'm taking anti-deppresants also the 1st on I was on didn't help much, I switched and the new one seems to help me more paxil. This is scary business, I try to grasp the good and not think about the doom and gloom anymore it happens sometimes and I wallow in it sometimes, but I know I don't have to stay there I have a choice I'll say a prayer for you , hope you find some way out of your depression. Know that you have a lot of friends here , who have been through real similar things as you. Take care

  22. I have to agree with the comments in regard to my radiation oncologist, my chemo oncologist was great, told me I had a serious condition and they would do all they could the rest was up to God and me, I wish I was seeing him for my follow ups. The title of the book about The Doors lead singer Jim Morrison "No one get out of here alive" keeps popping in my head. Don't know if I've made any sense. Praying for everyone here and George W too. Hair loss

I was told that I looked like Jesse Ventura that helped me as I am a big man also. Don't think that would help your mom much though. There are so many beautifulk scarves and wraps people make for cancer patients I also believe there are some places that give cancer patients wigs for free. I was having radiation with a woman who never lost any of her hair due to chemo, she had the same cocktail as me too carboplatin and taxol. Possibly check witht he american cancer society in regard to wigs I think that is where I may have seen the free wigs. Good luck to you and your mother. David A
