  6. Hi Janis, Welcome to our website. So Sorry you have the need to be here, but glad you found us on the web. There is a great group of people here, survivors and caregivers, folks who have been through a lot of the same things you and I have went through and conquered to tell about it and share their stories with others. I know for myself the waiting is horrible, I wanted to be treated and get this cancer out of my system and to go on with my life as normal(whatever that is) as possible. I take anti-depressents for depression and anxiety and I have heard a lot of other survivors say they use them too. Someone here uses the phrase better living through chemistry , that works for me. Again Janis I want welcome you here.

  8. Hi Ellen, I was in the same postion Chuck is in a little over a year ago, except I'm a little bigger guy was about 235 when I was dx by time surgery was done I was 250 now a year later I'm at 285(hoping to lose some of that!) I'm also 6'4" so can hold 235-250 well the other is a differnt story. Carboplatin and taxol worked great for me, I was able to have surgery after 2 rounds when at first I was told I was inoperable, thank God for a corageous go get em Thoracic surgeon on my part, then I had radiation afterwards, I'd be lying to you if I said it has been easy, doable yes and would I do it all again big resounding YES! Hoping for the best for you two! Go getum Chuck , Ellen and your team of doctors.

  14. Hi Karma, I used welbutrin(cheaper zyban), and a nicotine inhaler, plus the pulmonologist scaring the bejeezuz out of me 2 weeks befor my dx, been abolut 15 months and I'd be lying if I said I never crave a cigarette, just don't do it and the craving goes away quickly. I wish I could just have a cig every now and then but being the addict I am I know that isn't possible.
  15. Glad you are feeling better too , Becky.
  16. My Brother who was in the Marines in the turbulent late 60's once told me that if you smoked that you got extra breaks that was when the dangers were better known. I started smoking regularly when I was 12 or 13 and store owners and cashiers didn't think twice about selling cigarettes to me, now that I'm 45 with LC I find this very disturbing and hope that that practice no longer exists. By the time I was 18 (legal age to buy tobbacco in Michigan) I wanted to quit, attended classes and clinics to help me stop, wasn't able to quit till 2 weeks before my dx for lung cancer and thats because I was terrified. Needless to say nicotine and the other addicitive chemicals that they put in cigarrettes and other tobbacco products are very powerful. Damn them and the Tobbacco industry for all their deciet and for not valuing human lives over money, last time I checked God wasn't green!

  23. HI Joanie, My surgeon has called my condition that at times. A litttle history last july had a lobectomy upper right lobe, was supposed to start radiation in early sept, but started having a lot of trouble breathing so i had a battery of tests and it was decided that my bronchus going to my right lung was collapsing on itself. so I did have raidiation after I had 2 rigid bronchscopies. Now they think my middle lobe was damaged from the radiation and it is the cause of my breathing problems along with asthma, copd, and scar tissue. It has been a huge battle for me, my breathing is horrible much worse then when this all started, they tell me they think my right lung is useless, but don't want to remove it I wish they had from the begining. I am gratefull to be alive though!
