Hi,,,,I am okay here in New Smyrna Beach which is a bit below Daytona Beach. I live on a barrier island, so there are only 2 bridges on or off. One bridge is closed due to very high winds. All in all,,,its just some rain and high winds. Not as bad as Charley. I had my hurricane boxes in the living room, and Dad and I camped out there overnight just in case they came knockin at our door telling us to leave. Hope our other Floridians will check in so we know they are okay!!! Peace, Annjael

Thanks again Maryanne for the great info. I wrote it down and will commit those questions to memory for my dad. Since his eye incident,(which happened from start to finish in 5 min, and he was asleep), this info could help me recognize a real problem brewing. Sorry to hear about you and your family, the high blood pressure and cholesterol curse It is doable,we just have to behave!!!!!

Maryanne,,,,that is really good info. I am now 55, but I had a heart attack when I was 31. It was found by accident before a surgery, as the remnants were on my EKG. Bad thing is that the incident still shows up on my EKG and will forever. It will be difficult to tell by an EKG, whether it is new or old, so at least I have the info,and have been on high blood pressure meds since that time. I come from a long line of premature high blood pressure, and strokes. I now caregive for my 85 yr old dad, and I am always on the lookout for a stroke, as his blood pressure is high and has already taken out the sight in his right eye. He also has very clogged carotid arteries so I am glad to have that info you gave so maybe I can get him help in time! Thank you for sharing this!!!!! Way too young. This disease is horrible. Our Beth was a real fighter. She had a sense of humor even when she was having bad times. She will be terribly missed. My sincere smypathies to her lovely family. Peace, Beth... Blessings, Annjael

Thank you....this really hits home!!! 3 months after the illness and death of my husband, I came to Fla to caregive for my elderly father. I am his only child, so it was my responsibility. I accept that, but at times it is hard to have a life of my own here, and caregive. I am trying to do this by going out to lunch with my very good friend 2 doors down, who is also a widow. We have alot of fun, and I do try not to feel guilty. I realize I have to maintain a semblance of the life I had before. I think it is true that you have do for yourself in order to be a good caregiver. It works for my dad and I anyway. I really think he is glad I go off now and then, it gives him time for himself Thanks for posting this bill of rights for caregivers! Peace, Annjael

Well,,,this is fun!!! I was given the name Ann with no middle name.( my mom didnt believe in them) I always wished my name was Jael. Jael was an Israeli girl that lived next door to me as a child. Well when I got married I swore I would name a daughter Jael. My husband said NO NO and NO. I had a son. He breathed a sigh of relief! Well when my husband was ill I decided to finally convert to Catholisism, to join my family. Well when it came time to choose a Saints name as my confirmation name, I found that there was a Jael in the Book of Deborah!!! I went to my adviser and asked if I could use this name as it had alot of meaning to me and the Jael of the Bible was a brave woman. To my suprise she said yes!!!! So my name is now Ann Jael. It only took me 51 yrs to get a middle name!!!!! I do love it. My husband, bless his heart came to my Confirmation, Baptism and First Holy Communion, sat through it for 3 hours, he was ill, but he did it for me!!! I will never forget that gift of love from him, ever. He laughed about the Jael as the name I took,,,, I think he sort of expected me to fit it in there
