ginnyde Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 If you could only have 3 books to read for the rest of your life - what 3 books would that be? Quote

Treebywater Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 The Bible A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L'Engle... And then something by Brennan Manning or Larry Crabb or Henri Nouwen, but I don't know what. Quote
Ry Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 The Prince of Tides, Pat Conroy Sullivan's Island, Dorothy Benton Frank Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, Rebecca Wells or Colony by Anne Rivers Siddons. I love southern writers and books that take place in South Carolina. Quote
ginnyde Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Okay, I lied, I have 5, in no order: To Kill a Mocking Bird, Harper Lee Shogun, James Clavell The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Kidd Plum Island, Nelson DeMille, actually I would take the entire DeMille collection. And of course the complete works of Shakespear (just kidding) Quote
Don Wood Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Contrary to what most people believe of me (my education and all), I am not much on reading books. The Bible is the only one I would take with me. Quote
Larry Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 The Bible for certain and all the writing's of the early Church Father's and then The Grapes of Wrath.... Quote
Jyoung20 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 1. The Bible 2. The Purpose Driven Life 3. My little boy's baby book Quote
Addie Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Ry nailed one of mine... 1. Sullivan's Island 2. Triplets 3. The Horse Whisperer But that's only the short list. Quote
Teacake Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Goodness, this is hard. 1) Without Remorse by Tom Clancy 2) River God by Wilbur Smith 3) The JRR Tolkien Trilogy (OK 3 books there but they work as a group) And if we can take a book protagonist with us, mine would have to be Dirk Pitt of NUMA by Clive Cussler. Those "opaline green eyes" just do it for me! Fran Quote
kamataca Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 To Kill a Mockingbird Rain of Gold (Victor Villasenor) The Bible But oh, to only have three. How sad that would be. , Kelly Quote
Leslie221 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I can't even imagine only having access to 3 books for the rest of my life! I read all the time and don't really enjoy re-reading the same books unless years have passed. The Source by James Michener a really good anthology of sci fi stories The Complete Works of Shakespeare (it's a BIG book, but I could read history, tragedy, comedy, and poetry; I could read it over and over and learn something new each time.)
