Ann
As a child, did you have a special "hideout" or place to "hangout" ? Describe the place to us and tell us why it was so special.
dchurchi
I never had a "hideout" but I did "hangout" on the sports fields. I played tackle football for hours when I was growing up. Even now as an adult if I need to "get away" its some sort of sport I am doing.
Don Wood
We lived on a farm and I would hang out in the corn fields. I also had an imaginary friend. Don
bunny
YES! on rainy days, we would put blankets over the dining room table, and go in there and eat english muffin pizzas or those awful/wonderful brownies my Holly Hobby Mini-bake Oven would produce (hey, you can only do so much with brownie mix and a lightbulb...) mamasbabygirl
Yes, we hung out in my friend's side yard. There was a hose and spicket that we always said bubbles were coming from. Still to this day, if I see one of my close friends from that time, we bubble up our cheeks like the bubbles have covered the world by now!! So funny.. Treebywater
I had several--creek banks at my friend's house, down by the pond, out in the timber... But I have also been known to wax poetic about the undersides of tables... Wonder if I can find the short little blurb I wrote somewhere. Do you remember how great it was when you were little to play under tables? *sigh*
mamasbabygirl
Val and Amie, The boys and I made a fort this weekend with 2 tables and 2 blankets. Graden slept under it in a sleeping bag. Sometimes you just gotta live through your kids teeheehee
Ry
I liked to crawl under tables also. My next favorite place was right next to the heat vent...I can still hear my dad yelling at me to quit blocking the heat. Rochelle
stand4hope
When I was upset, I would swing or play the piano real loud. I don't know if you would call those "hiding places", but they were my places to escape. Love, Peggy
stand4hope
P. S. Our son would climb a tree to hide and stay in the tree for hours.
Ann
Our house had a small cellar, not very deep at all, that was accessed from an outside door. The foundation of the house was block and some of the blocks were turned so they were open for ventilation. This seemed to always be the ideal setting for stray cats to have kittens. I adored cats but was never allowed to have inside cats. I would spend hours, sitting by that door, peeping in at those beautiful little kittens. cindi o'h
A dugout on the crest of a hill not too far from where I grew up. The dugout looked out over the lake. We would pick wild raspberries, strawberries and grapes, bring some sugar and cream and have picnics up in our (8 brothers and sisters) hideaway. Difficult to see us from the road. A stray dog came by, a black lab, scared me. I went running down the hill with him on my tail and ran full steam into a barbed wire fence where I ripped the underside of my arm wide open. Have a 10X1" scar as a fun reminder of our secret hideaway. Cindi o'h
lilyjohn
The lady who baby sat me while Mama was working had a big front porch. It was one of my favorite places. Me and the girls next door spent hours there playing games and jumping down the steps to see how far we could jump.
