I'm gratefull for nighbors and and I am especailly gratefull for my family. Above all I am gratefull that I live in a country where for the most part I am free to worship my God at anytime without being persicuted. Despite many hardships and much pain I have known so much love in my life and I have loved with an intensity that I am gratefull to have been able to do. raneyf
I'm thankful for a great day yesterday. I felt well with no nausea and limited coughing. Had lunch with my aunt, saw my sister and my grandma. Went to dinner with my family, ran normal family errands (picking up birthday presents and getting ds a haircut), then topped it off with a yummy Hawaiin Shave Ice that dripped all over me in the 110 degree AZ heat. Then I watched Last Comic Standing and laughed for a while before bed. It's been a few weeks since I had a normal day and I enjoyed this one. recce101
I'm thankful that dear friends like Raney can enjoy the kinds of days I've been blessed with for a while. And speaking of shave ice, I'm also thankful that we discovered Samurai Brand Maui Style Dessert, which is available in several flavors at our neighborhood Longs drug store. It's the closest thing I've found to standing in the shave ice line at Matsumoto's on the North Shore, asking for a scoop of ice cream in my large paper cone before the finely shaved ice and flavorings are added, and standing in the shade outside biting at the mountain of ice and stabbing with my wooden spoon until I've reached that exquisite mixture at the bottom. Pure pleasure! My wife tells me it's called Maui style because there's a shop in the Maui Mall that's been selling a similar but even better version for years -- "guri-guri," probably a multi-ethnic rendition of "goodie-goodie" from the old plantation days. Here are a couple of articles on guri-guri, one of which has a home recipe approximation that I haven't tried: http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_ki ... uriem.html http://mmm-yoso.typepad.com/mmmyoso/ice ... index.html Aloha, Ned
dtay
I am grateful for my sister who picks me up when I am down and who looks after my Dad day and night and has cared for him since his diagnosis. She is truly an angel sent from God. Dawn x
