Wednesday's Air

Morning All! Morning temps stuck in the upper 60s, 68 at 8 am is fine by me compared to what we have had in the winter this year and last.

Finally talked to my sister Dottie last night. I wait for her to call. She has a big family checking on her and needs her rest after her surgery. New to me, her son told me on the 17th she'll know more about possible lymph node involvement so prayers are still on order.

Am going to try to keep up the energy this week and get some office work done again. Not too much though because I'm going out tonight. So excited. My massage therapist Maggie invited me to a Red Barn theater production with some other women. Theatre is one of the things I love about KW but haven't been getting there much the past few years. Shows start at 8 pm and oh my, I'm tired by then lol. In case you are thinking otherwise, the Red Barn is my favorite theater in town and is famous for it's outrageous sometimes scandalous comedy. I do serious too but....

Wow what about yesterday's Air! Work, stress and retirement sound like topics we all need to explore.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning it is a whopping 1 degrees right now. I am warming the car up as I type. I haven't backed into anything lately so things are going good.....LOL

Judy KW glad to here you worked out your deposits for your taxes. I do most of my best work when I am lying in bed thinking about everything also...LOL Probably not very healthy for us.. I will keep praying for your sister Dottie. I am glad that you are going to a show tonight, you deserve it. Enjoy yourself. Do try to keep up a little exercise to keep your blood flowing and energy level up.

Eric can't tell you how life will be with retirement it all depends what you make of it. You will find some kind of volunteer work or something that you really have a passion for. I wish I could help with that but I am still looking for a good career and I am in hopes I will ever be able to retire...lol. Maybe you could volunteer to come here and help me get my act together...LOL Enjoy your time back at work or at least try to....

Was suppose to go to the gym after work yesterday and never did so I promised myself today. I must keep my promise to myself I feel so much better after I go.

Well off to work hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning, friends. It's one more day closer to Friday and for that I'm very thankful. I am so envious of all this talk about retirement that Eric has been sharing. I can think of at least a million things I would love to do if I was retired. But...I'm beginning to wonder if I will EVER be able to retire. Unless my lucky Lotto numbers come in, I'm pretty sure I will be working forever.

Judy....I want you to know that I've been remembering Dottie in my prayers. Our weather is just a little cooler than yours. For the first time in weeks, I can tell the humidity is on the rise. My hair was so nice and straight when we had the cooler weather and now, the frizzies have invaded. I'm so happy that you're going to the theater tonight! Take a nice, long nap this afternoon so that you'll be all rested up for a great evening!!!

Libby...I can't even begin to remember what 1 degree temperatures feel like. Judy and I are dragging out the Snuggies when it hits 50 so my hat is off for you for being able to cope with that cold! I had to laugh when you said you were warming up your car! I've been doing a lot of that in the mornings...and I'm in Florida. There have been three mornings that hubby had to scrape ice off my windshield.

If anyone gets a chance...please go to the grieving forum and read the bizarre dream I had last night. I need big hugs, as I can't get this dream out of my head this morning. It was too "dark" to post to our fun forum, so I chose the grieving forum.

Whew! Getting in early today. What busy, and fun AIRs have been lately.

It's not bad here, about 25. But that Libby, she's going to be sending me her frigid air in the next day or so. It's okay, it means no snow and that's okay!

Took my german short hair in today for surgery. He has a lump under his throat/tongue and it appeared suddenly, but it's affecting his ability to eat. So we fork over $500 to find out what it is. sigh

And I realize I have not seen my Oncologist in a year, so I call to find out when I'm scheduled, and my Oncologist retired! I'm scheduled with a new one for Feb. 8. I asked why a CT scan was not ordered, and she said "I don't know". I asked her to talk to the nurses because I want one before I see this new doctor. "Why?" she said. Well, I have not written about or said anything to anyone, but I've had a dry hard cough for about 3 months. At first thought it was allergies. But it's still there, and wakes me up at night. And I have something going on in my throat that makes me gag. That I think might be allergies. But I want a CT scan to make sure everything is okay in there. Plus, he is a new Oncologist for me, thinking we should start the slate out clean with a clean report of NED right? I went from CT scans every 3 months, to six months, and now I have not had one in a year? This girl wants some reassurance that all is well.

I hesitate to say anything, don't want to be a hypocondriac, but reality is that I had lung cancer. I'd like to nip it in the bud if it decides to visit me again!

Judy, enjoy the theatre. I love that too! Caffeine is a friend at 8:00. Maybe not at midnight, but have fun anyway.

Ann, I'll check out your post too. Funny thinking of you warming up your car. Where Libby and I live, we definitely have to do that. But we understand you Southerners!

Work - sigh.

A busy morning already and the clocks appear to be running, well slow today.

Judy - yes we have been running through a lot of topics it seems - an now you are throwing theater (or is it theatre) into the mix. We went and saw Wicked when it was in Richmond. It was amazing - my first real theater experience. I want to go see Beauty and the Beast in April. The last thing I went to before that was a "lunch" where someone from the university played the piano for an hour - love that classical piano, even if I've sense forgotten what was played.

Feeling a little down today for some reason - maybe the cold is sinking in - the alarm clock is lucky is survived this morning. If fellow worker bees are like me this has been a long week already.

We are supposed to have a slight chance of snow on Friday - I believe that I am ready to move somewhere closer to the equator!

Back to work for me - I've got to get moving or I'll be napping where I sit.

Good morning, everyone!

It was 39 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 60.

KW Judy, best wishes for your sister. I hope all lymph nodes will look good.

MI Judy, you have good cause to be paranoid. I think that any of we survivors who have anything going on that doesn't clear up quickly should be getting things checked out. Sorry you lost your onc. I hope the new one works out well, and everything's clear.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that it will be cold here the entire week next week, with temperatures staying near or below freezing the entire week. Weather.com isn't giving that dire a forecast yet, but they'll probably follow suit soon. Scope me out a place next door nearer the equator while you're there, Annette.

Have a great day, all!

Six posts already and it's still morning. Ha, I counted them lol. I'm on break a few steps from my office. Been catching up on all the odds and ends and loose ends so I can dive right into taxes when Stan leaves. Too bad my date with the ladies is tonight because he's leaving in the wee hrs of tomorrow. No problem really. He'll be in bed by 8 pm lol. He's taking me to a nice restaurant up the hightway a bit. Plenty of time to have an early dinner before I get picked up. Annette, I threw that "theatre" in for Eric's benefit altho I do think that's how the Red Barn spells it. Until I moved to KW, my theater experience was limited to a couple of theaters in the round and stage shows at the Latin casino. When I got to KW I really got into it and then I had the good fortune to see a couple of production in New York City! Oh how I wish I had the energy to do that again. I wanted to see Jersey Boys so badly but if I don't start flying again...

Now all this talk about cold is made me put my snuggy back on. Ann, 50 degrees? Silly girl I had mine on this morning when it was 68 and now cause Stan has the doors open lol. Now Bud, that weather you are talking about, hope it is not biking to work weather. Libby, 1 degree is just wrong. But do go to the gym today. I'll check up on you. We can be each other's inspiration. I don't know what your goal is but mine is 3 days a week altho I used to do 4 or 5.

I asked her to talk to the nurses because I want one before I see this new doctor. "Why?"
Judy, I don't know why these people are even around people with health issues. Hang in there. There is no way to say don't worry, just that we're waiting with you. Hope you doggie is o.k. too.

Got to go. Know that my farm has lain fallow for days since I've been on the Air and in my office so much lol.

Bud...it seems that everytime you have cold weather in Texas, we have the same front hit us a couple of days later. So, if you're supposed to have a cold ween coming us I guess Judy and I better have our Snuggies close at hand...LOL!

Thanks for all the comments about my post on the other forum. I am still unsettled by this dream and am hoping those feelings go away as the day goes on.

Judy...I had to chuckle about your mention of all the various topics that have been popping up lately. Yesterday, I was talking about stress and last night STRESS came knocking at one of my Auxiliary meetings. The meeting was very informal, as there were only five members in attendance. I have to tell you that was a very good thing, as I became "potty mouth extraordinaire." I was so fed up with the lack of help and cooperation from this group and FINALLY I had the courage to just tell everyone what I think and feel!!! So...I think my stress level is definitely down a bit!

Busy busy morning - I truly enjoy reading about everyone. Judy (MI) - I remember you mentioning the cough long ago - I 100% agree with wanting a clean slate CT scan with a new doctor - not even to clear the worry about the cough. I have been worried myself because of a hoarse scratchy throat - but a weird combination of cold, allergy and cough medicine and I've fixed that and solved my significant other's earplug issue. (Not mentioning any names or anything and I personally have never heard this but someone said I snored - and I have almost stopped - so I will keep taking an allergy pill one night and a cold / cough pill the next night.

So as far as our EVTBT - does it mean that if he has to drive to work next week that we have to exercise for him? Do we all have to or can we have a designated exerciser. I'm thinking I may have to umm let me think go out of town to a place where exercise is forbidden next week. I'm just saying -

wait a minute who just thought I was lazy.....

That is funny Annette! YOu always just crack me up! Thanks for the thoughts, yeah this cough has been around too long, and it's time to check it out.

Now...as for me taking over for the EVTBT Team, um...........oh yeah! In Michigan, exercising is strictly forbidden during the week of January 10 through 16. It's been a law here for years! We are all to turn on the TV and watch football as they prepare for the Super Bowl. Yeah....that's it! Sorry. It will have to be someone else!

OMG Annette, I'm so glad you got your groove back on LOL LOL. Tell you what, since I'm such a good sport and even tho I have not officially joined the team, I will volunteer to exercise for you all on Thursday and Saturday. The promise will help me keep my NY's resolution.

Ann, your post didn't come up on my "not viewed" list this morning so I'll go look for it.

Good Evening All,

Gosh I've got my work cut out to-night getting up to speed with you all,did you see all them posts, why Its busier here than Sauchiehall St on a Saturday,am I the only one here working, holding the fort alone?.

Well Sally's not back from the twi-light zone yet, sorry about the pun,my little way of coping.Searching the fridge, for dinner, I am hungry not really a cook but needs must, found two sirlion steaks I bought last week, packaging reads grill each side for 6mins etc,use by 2nd January, smell fresh,so I take the chance, grill pan lined with tin foil, since I am on a health streak,I poured some extra virgin olive oil on top of the steak, thought, that would be a nice touch, not your best idea Eric, second time I opened the oven, this great big cloud of smoke comes pouring out of the oven, gasp, open doors, windows, abandon kitchen, smoke clears, you know that steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, thought of doing the second one,but that would have been pure greed(might try later to-night).Of course I may have a different story to tell to-morrow,if my tummy is upset, LOL.

JudyKW,you wont believe this but yesterday I was listening to radio 4 and an author was being interviewed about her new book about famous murders over the years in the UK,well the one they chose to focus on was the Murder in the Red Barn,a young woman moves in with this guy,and she keeps asking him to marry her,he keeps turning her down until one day he said OK,meet me at the Red Barn and we will go into town and make the marriage arrangements, well she is never seen alive again, her body was later found buried inside the Red Barn-Spooky,eh?so enjoy your night out at the Red Barn-Wooooh.

Hi Libby,Thanks,I actually did enjoy my first day back, sharing all the holiday stories with my colleagues, work?,oh forget the work.Needing to sort out some things?,well hang on to your hat,if my early retirement deal is on,its US of A here I come,Of course I will not only sort out your probs, but also your, health insurance system, social security, unemployement benefits not forgetting decent pensions for all, yup, got a lotta work to do in fixing all that needs doing, ahem, does anyone have Mr Obamas home phone number?-I like to brief him before I arrive.

Hi JudyMI,These Vets know how to charge dont they,we had Pet Plan insurance for Sam which helped augment these bills.Regarding your dry cough,I read somewhere, this happens to some people in winter whose central heating is on full tilt, the air gets too dry,its helped by putting a glass of water in each room?maybe worth a try?.Hope your new oncologist turns out brill.

Hi Annette,My daughter thinks Wicked is the best musical she has seen,I havent seen it,my favourite happens to be Les Miserables, seen it twice, once in Edinburgh and once in London, ditto for the Phantom, went to see the musical Spamalot in London also, done by the Monty Python team,I laughed until my sides were sore,if it gets Stateside,go and see it.Jennifer got me tickets to see Mama Mia in Edinburgh in March, heard its really good.

Hi Bud,I dont believe it Texas down to 0 degrees C next week,I have spare winter woolies, shall I Air Mail them to you?

My apologies if I missed anyone,no offence intended.Think my typewriter ribbon must be needing changed after this post.Goodnight everyone, bye.

Well Eric, I have to say that is a very unique way to make a steak! Here, we usually sear them on the grill, then cook them a few minutes on each side, just enough for Medium Rare, and it's steak time. I can only imagine the smoke from the oven! Crack me up!

As for the humidity, I have a humidifier built into my furnace. With the dust allergies, and other allergies, we spent good money on our furnace, with the humidifier. But in my old house with an old furnace, we did use that glass of water trick. It helped!

I saw Phantom in Toronto one year and it was an amazing show! If you all ever get a chance to see it, do it. Great show.

Was funny, when my Mom was around, I arranged for a weekend in Chicago, and we went to the show Cats. She lasted for the 1st part, and got up to leave. I'm like "Mom, why are you leaving?" She said "I hate Cats. I had no idea the play was about cats!!!!!" How funny. It was a great show in spite of her protests.

Hey KW Judy....

I just heard from a friend in Tennessee that they're getting a lot of snow coming down. Then, I read a post from a lady north of me, In Flagler County and she said a cold rain is coming down. This doesn't sound good for either of us. Of course, a lot of the weaker fronts die down before they reach as far south as you are, so there's still hope.

It's almost 6:00 and I just realized that I forgot to wear earrings to work this morning. I must have been in a complete fog when I got up this morning, as I never do that!!!

Wow where to start. This is a busy place. Judy KW yes please keep on me with the exercise. I did go today after work. I was hoping for 3-4 days a week. Hope you are having fun right now. Yes 1 degree is absolutely wrong. I need to move by you or Ann. Or I could also have Annette find me a place closer to the Equator. Annette I did some exercise for you, now I can barely move my arms or legs....LOL

Judy MI, why yes you need a scan. If you were not having a problem your next scheduled one should be at one year mark. I know how you feel I had a scratchy throat and cough for about six weeks and was doing the flipping out dance. It is finally gone about a week or so. I was too afraid to call. It’s hard not to think the worse, but I am sure it will be fine. This time of year where we live it is rough on our lungs I always have problems in the winter. Keep us updated. And yes you know what weather is coming your way...LOL

Eric, Oh you are too funny I look forward to you coming here and fixing everything. Then maybe one day I will be able to retire. Yes this country is screwed up.

why Its busier here than Sauchiehall St on a Saturday,am I the only one here working, holding the fort alone?.

Eric you had me ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing).

Oh yes I love plays. Seen Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, and Chorus line on Broadway in New York (several others I am sure). I am hoping to take my Mom to Jersey Boys in June. Hey Judy in MI let me know if you happen to see another play in Chicago I could meet you there. That would be fun.

Good night all.
