    Big Dummy

Eppie....so sorry that I am just now reading this post. OUCH!!! What a nasty fall that must have been. I have a friend that broke her kneecap a few years ago and she was in so much pain. I hope you have a handle on the pain and are keeping your leg elevated. If I remember, elevating the leg seemed to help her pain a lot. At least we do get to hear from you more now!!! Take care and bring on the jokes!!!
  3. Answer the questions and find out what you will be in the next life. Fun!!! http://www.reincarnationstation.com/

    Saying goodbye

Kathleen....I am so very sorry to read of your fathers' passing. I know how heartbroken you are! How is your mother dealing with your fathers' death? It must be so hard for her right now, as every minute of her treatment must bring thoughts of your father. Please remember to take care of yourself during this time. Although you are being strong for your mother, you must allow yourself the time to grieve for your father. What a horrible position to be in. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Remember we are here for you.
  5. Love it, Ginny. So glad you're back with us. How was your trip???
  6. Today's GTKY will be a bit different. We're going to go through the entire alphabet naming something we each like with the next letter. Don't just think of a word. Think of something that you really like that begins with that letter. I'll start...... A.....Autumn
  7. Have you had your break today.....McDonalds The Quicker Picker Upper
  8. Cindi....You know it's so hard to clap and hold a drink at the same time so, I think I'll clap now and drink later!!!! This is such good news! I am so very happy for you. Hearing that your bartender (and dear friend) is going to be pouring drinks for a long time is wonderful news!!!
  9. NEED WASHING?? A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing as carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in "Mom let's run through the rain," she said. "What?" Mom asked. "Let’s run through the rain!" She repeated. "No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied. This young child waited about another minute and repeated: "Mom, let's run through the rain," "We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said. "No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm. This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet? "Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!" The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith. "Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said. Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.
  10. This should be fun. You list a phrase that is associated with a particular product. The next person will guess what the product is and then list a phrase for another product. Here goes.... Melts in your mouth and not in your hands.
  11. Does Joyce have internet access? Maybe she would like to join us?
  12. Lori, I am so very happy to be reading about all of these happy things that are happening now that you have your entire family under your new roof. I just knew things would work out for you and your mom. You certainly deserve a lot of happiness and special times with your dear mom!!! Please keep these great posts coming!!!
  13. Cindi....Just go ahead and give us the entire scoop! No better way for most of us to spice up our lives than by reading the official (and uncut) version of your biography!!! I can betcha that would be one book that would be hard to put down. Deb....7 speeding tickets??? Now I know whay you just bought that racy little convertible. Did you all know that??? I think the car purchase must have had something to do with being such a beautiful model in the charity fashion show. Models...convertibles...they just seem to go together.

    Cute Joke

A young man goes into a pharmacy and asks the pharmacist: "Hello, could you give me condom. My girlfriend has invited me for dinner and I think she is expecting something from me!" The pharmacist gives him the condom; and as the young man is going out, he returns and tells him: "Give me another condom because my girlfriend's sister is very cute too. She always crosses her legs in a provocative manner when she sees me and I think she expects something from me too." The pharmacist gives him a second condom; and as the boy is leaving he turns back and says: After all, give me one more condom because my girlfriend's mom is still pretty cute and when she sees me she always makes allusions... and since she invited me for dinner, I think she is expecting something from me!! During dinner, the young man is sitting with his girlfriend on his left, the sister on his right and the mom facing him. When the dad gets there, the boy lowers his head and starts praying: "Dear Lord, bless this dinner...thank you for all you give us...!!!" A minute later the boy is still praying: "Thank you Lord for your kindness..." Ten minutes go on and the boy is still praying, keeping his head down. The others look at each other surprised and his girlfriend even more than the others. She gets close to the boy and tells him in his ear: "I didn't know you were so religious!!!" The boy replies :"I didn't know your dad was the pharmacist!!!"
  15. I just read this little blurb in a magazine and thought I would share it... Recent lab studies show that phytochemicals in crnaberries help heal damaged lung tissue. Eight ounces of cranberry juice - or a handful of dried, sweetened cranberries daily provide the optimal benefit. The article reccommends enjoying a cranberry spritzer - a refreshing mix of 4 ounces cranberry juice, 1-1/2 ounces of white wine plus seltzer over ice.

    Ideas?

Val...I really like the idea of taking ice cream to a local cancer center. The fact that your mom enjoyed that so much must make it very special for you. I also think the balloon idea is always a good one. Have you thought of planting a tree in her memory? A lot of parks really welcome that idea. A tree is something that keeps growing and will eventually offer so much beauty for many to see. Maybe you could buy a couple of books and donate them to a cancer center. You could print up your own little labels to place inside, saying they were given in memory of your mother. People are always looking for something good to read while getting treatments. Do you have a Hospice favility near you? If so, I think taking that beautiful little Carolyn to visit some of the patients would be a beautiful gesture. Many of the patients are alert and would love to see such a beautiful little girl. I know that would make your mom smile!!!
  17. Debi...sounds like you should write your own screenplay about that experience. I have heard some really scary stories about these small town courtrooms and judges that rule in them. I guess you're lucky that you walked away with a $180.00 fine, as this judge sounds like one that could have gladly imposed some jail time in his nice little town. I have two traffic tickets. One was for speeding and the other was for making a right hand turn on a red. Normally, here in Florida , the right hand turn on red is permissible but this was in a school zone, which is a big no-no.
  18. In your lifetime, how many traffic tickets have you been given?
  19. Saying prayers for Joyce.
  20. I hope she finds a really good home for her furbabies. I'm sure her story will touch many hearts and someone will help!

    Thanks!!!

Rochelle...I am so very happy for you and your mom!!! Positive stories like yours are just what we all need right about now! Please keep in touch with us and thanks so much for sharing your good news!!!
  22. So very sorry for your loss. I know your dear mom is at peace.
  23. I think it is fairly common now for Hospice to become involved at the hospital. Sometimes, the Hospice facilities are full, so they offer their services either at home or at the hospital. In my experience, I found Hospice nurses to be angels without wings. They were able to keep Dennis very comfortable and were a wealth of knowledge and support for me. They will be a source of strength for your family during these weeks. I will be remembering Kay and your entire family in my prayers.
